On its way to ruling by a 5-4 majority that the Secretary of Commerce improperly decided to include a citizenship question in the 2020 Census, the Supreme Court unanimously concluded that states had legal standing to sue the federal government over this issue based on the court’s conclusion that it is “predictable” that noncitizens will act “unlawfully” by declining to fill out the Census questionnaire.
The court explained its conclusion on this question in Part II of its opinion, which all nine justices joined.
“To have standing,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in this unanimously-joined part of his opinion in Department of Commerce v. New York, “a plaintiff must

The sooner Trump can appoint another Justice the better. And please fire Roberts from the Chief Justice job. Another Bush mistake that haunts us.

Roberts and his friends are idiots. If a population is inclined to act illegally, then you proceed to make sure they understand there are consequences - you DON'T give them a free pass!
Also, if the census is being used to pad representation of 'certain states', then THEY are encouraged to act illegally. The entire decision has the supreme court encouraging lawlessness and the breakdown of American society and the Constitution. When I heard the original decision, I felt those justices, were political and wrong headed. After reading this article, if it does correctly represent Robert's decision, they are treasonous. The day is coming when America will erupt into violence against these invaders and their enablers, regardless of whether the illegals are good people or not. The court and the Democrats are guaranteeing that otherwise law-abiding citizens are going to take matters into their own hands and any illegal or Democrat will be merely a target for their long-simmering rage!

The vast majority of non-citizens will not even fill out the questionaire, citizenship question or not. That's why we keep hearing that the country has 11 million illegal citizens instead of the more realistic 40 million. These people are pompous, insulated, Supreme Idiots.

Now that they have standing, will the states be able to demand compensation for "diminishment of political representation, loss of federal funds, degradation of census data, and diversion of resources", from prior census which included this entrapping question.
Madness!

If there is not a citizenship question, don't bother asking any other questions. I will not answer them.

How about writing "I am a citizen of the United States of America" across the front of the survey and just send it back.

#5 brings up an interesting point. What is the feasibility of we in blue states boycotting the Census to try to effect less left-wing malrepresentation from these areas?

By the same reasoning, No socialist Democrats can run for President as it is predictable that illegals, will illegally vote for them.

This nitpicking US Supreme Court decision makes the court look like a joke to the vast majority of US citizens who make the country work and who would have no problem stating that they are US citizens on census forms. This decision also will encourage leftist groups to file court actions attacking every deliberative action that the Federal Executive Agencies take before changing a government policy or regulation..
The main reason the leftist and liberal Democrats do not want the citizenship question on the Census is that they do not want the US citizen population group to know how many aliens are actually in the USA, and how many of them are in the country unlawfully. For well over a decade the Democrats and their media minions have been misinforming the American public as to the number of illegal aliens that are actually in the US using the constant and very low ball figure of 11 million illegal aliens. How can that be when there are over 100,000 illegal aliens unlawfully crossing the borderline each month? In actuality there are most likely over 22 million illegal aliens now in the USA.
The Democrats want as many poor, uneducated, and socialist minded illegal aliens to continue to get into the USA as possible. The reason for that is that the Democrats consider just about all of that class of illegal aliens to be future natural Democrat socialist voters after they are granted amnesty and eventually US voting rights. In the short-term the Democrats know that just about every illegal alien who travels to the interior of the USA will sojourn in some immigrant or low income community in the Democrat run big cities around the country. The Democrats want as many as possible of them to be counted in the 2020 Census as their numbers will then be used to pad the total population figures of those areas, thus allowing those Democrat run areas to obtain additional federal funding, and to trigger the reapportionment of additional new Congressional Districts into those immigrant and low income areas, making it much easier for Democrat socialist political candidates to get elected in those areas with much lower vote counts then in Congressional Districts with more balanced population groups who are mostly all lawfully qualified to vote in US elections in much higher percentages. The big question should be, should The location and reapportionment of Congressional Districts be based upon the total population, US citizens, legal immigrants and illegal aliens, of a given area as is done now, or should the location of Congressional Districts be based upon the population count of only US citizens living in the given area who are qualified to vote and elect the political candidate who will fill that congressional seat?
In the long term-term the Democrats want to grant amnesty to just about the entire illegal alien population including those who will surely come across the insecure borderline in the future, along with eventually granting them US citizenship and US voting rights, knowing that very high percentages would then become Democrat socialist voters overwhelming the native “deplorable” vote in enough areas of the country to keep the Democrats in permanent political power. Remember once granted US citizenship, under the current family chain migration provisions now in the immigration laws, those “New Americans”as the Democrats call them, will gain the right to petition for and bring their entire immediate foreign families to the USA thus increasing their population count in numbers that can only be guessed at, most likely by the tens of millions.

It's becoming increasingly predictable that the Supreme Court will, too.
