In a a vocal split with their Republican colleagues, Sens. Mitt Romney of Utah and Joni Ernst of Iowa have openly called for an investigation into the recent allegation of rape against President Donald Trump raised by advice columnist and author E. Jean Carroll.
Romney told CNN an "evaluation" needs to occur, although he is not sure who should perform it. The senator said he did not know if the proper setting for such an evaluation would be in the Congress or "whether it's another setting, I'm not sure."

Sen. Cory Booker argued during the Democrat presidential debate on Wednesday that Americans need to talk more about transgender people.
“We do not talk enough about trans-Americans, especially African American trans-Americans, and even incredibly high rates of murder right now,” he said.
He compared the transgender rights struggles to the civil rights of black Americans, recalling a time when they were lynched in America.
Booker also said that up to 30 percent of LGBT schoolchildren were afraid to go to school.
He then argued that Democrats needed to do more than just support the Equality Act proposed in Congress.
“We need to have a president that will fight to protect LGBTQ

Megan Rapinoe, star forward for the women’s U.S. national soccer team, seems to hate the world. She goes around with a scowl permanently etched into her weathered face. Though an outstanding soccer player, Megs has it in her head that she’s getting cheated, and that the cheater is Donald Trump. So she refused to go to the White House if the team wins the women’s World Cup.
Trump then extended an invitation to the team whether they win or lose and of course Megan took it with ill grace. The girl has no graces, only grimaces.

Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) split from members of their party Tuesday and requested more information on E. Jean Carroll’s claim that Donald Trump raped her 23 years ago.
While many of his Republican colleagues have remained silent on the issue, or come out in support of the president, Romney claimed the accusation placed by Jean Carroll, who previously said “most people think of rape as being sexy,” is a “serious” allegation, according to CNN.
“It’s a very serious allegation,” Romney said. “I hope that it is fully evaluated. The President said it didn’t happen and I certainly hope that’s the case.”

The Supreme Court ordered further proceedings in the dispute over a citizenship question on the 2020 census form Thursday, saying the Trump administration apparently concealed its true reason for adding the query. Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the Court’s opinion, portions of which were unanimous. “It is rare to review a record as extensive as the one before us when evaluating informal agency action — and it should be,” Roberts wrote. “But having done so for the sufficient reasons we have explained, we cannot ignore the disconnect between the decision made and the explanation given. Our review is deferential, but we are “not required to exhibit a naiveté

Jackie O's daughter Caroline Kennedy is giving someone the opportunity to experience a slice of the family's unique, glamorous, and very closely-guarded life after putting her mother's sprawling Martha's Vineyard estate on the market for a staggering $65 million — four decades after the former first lady purchased it. The 340-acre property includes more than a mile of private Atlantic beachfront near Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as well as lush surrounding landscapes, all of which have been perfectly preserved by Kennedy and her family for the last 40 years. Onassis was first attracted to the oceanfront property in 1979,

I'D OCCASIONALLY seen him in the gym — we both work out at the same Brookline Village health club — but we had never previously had occasion to speak. The other day, as I was using a weight machine near the front desk, I noticed him approach and speak to the staff member on duty. He motioned with apparent consternation toward the TV screens mounted on the opposite wall, and I heard him say the word "Fox." One of the eight screens was tuned to the Fox News Channel, and it became clear he wanted it changed.
"I'm sorry," the staffer replied. "Another member

A high-profile conservative leader called Thursday for the impeachment of Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. after he provided the crucial fifth vote in the Supreme Court decision heading off President Trump’s goal of including a question on citizenship on the 2020 census. Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union and husband of top Trump White House aide Mercedes Schlapp, said the ruling showed the chief justice was not the conservative-minded jurist he’d been touted to be, noting his previous decision essentially preserving Obamacare. “I’m for impeaching the chief justice for lying to all of us about his support

Wednesday on CBS’s “The Late Show,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said “some folks” during the MSNBC Democratic candidates’ debate were like high school students who “didn’t seem like they read the book.”
Partial transcript as follows:
OCASIO-CORTEZ: I think sometimes with the debate stage this big, it can kind of seem like a high school classroom, and so there are some folks that, like, didn’t seem like they read the book, and then they got called on. And then —
COLBERT: Anybody in particular?
OCASIO-CORTEZ: “You know, you kind of like— it depends on the question. So— so they’ll answer the question or they’ll get called on, and

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. The unofficial motto of the U.S. Postal Service does not say anything about persevering through a profound agency financial crisis. But according to recent congressional testimony by Postmaster General Megan Brennan, the agency will run out of money within five years. [Snip] Nothing could replace a service that

Bank of America will end its association with companies that provide prisoner and immigrant detention services at both the state and federal levels. The move comes amid growing public concern about the nation’s border policies.
A spokesperson said Wednesday that Bank of America has discussed the issue with its clients that provide those services. While the bank appreciates “steps they have taken to properly execute their contractual and humanitarian responsibilities,” it ultimately decided to “exit the relationships.”
“Lacking further legal and policy clarity, and in recognition of the concerns of our employees and stakeholders in the communities we serve, it is our intention to exit these relationships,” the spokesperson said.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) decided to move further left on gun control than his debate stage colleagues. Most of his colleagues focused on the typical gun control pushes: an assault weapons ban and a call for universal background checks.
"This is something that I'm tired of and I'm tired of hearing people all they have to offer is 'thoughts and prayers.' In my faith, people say, 'faith without works' is dead," Booker said. "So we will find a way. The reason we have a problem is we've let the corporate gun lobby frame this debate. It is time that we have bold actions and a bold agenda.
