Media Did Not Stand in Solidarity

Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” CNN White House chief correspondent Jim Acosta revealed one his “regrets” in life is the media not standing together in solidarity. Acosta lamented he has “missed some opportunities” to challenge President Donald Trump labeling the media “the enemy of the people.” “You know, I wish at times that the press had been a bit more in solidarity with one another in standing up to this White House and saying, ‘Listen, ‘You know, the president can’t call us the enemy of the people. We’re not going to go along with that.’ Acosta told host Brian Stelter. “I think we’ve missed some opportunities here and there to challenge that.”

Jim, old boy, you should get someone to play for you one of Rush's media montage of solidarity so you could hear yourself; unless of course you are the sniveling, pusillanimous, self-serving bigot we all think you are. Jimmy my boy, think through what you have said, the implications for your profession, and what you are admitting. There can only be one authorized point of view and the freedom of the press only applies to that view? No diversity of thought? Have you cracked a book and read about, oh let's see Nazi Germany and the USSR? Have you ever heard of George Orwell? I do believe that you are featured prominently in his works, you shouldn't exactly be flattered by that. You sir have confirmed one of Trump's most challenged assertions, you are in fact an enemy of the republic.

I suspect that their lack of support for his vitriolic tantrums stems more from the fact that he is an embarrassment to them than any supposed righteous cause celebre' Acosta may purport to represent. They know him for what he is, and he just refuses to acknowledge that. You are an infantile crybully who cannot control his temper. As proven on multiple occasions.

The international edition of the New York Times will no longer feature editorial cartoons. The move to self-censorship follows the uproar sparked by publication of a widely denounced antisemitic caricature of Israeli Prime Minister Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The cartoon, published in April, depicted Netanyahu as a dog wearing a Star of David collar and leading a sightless U.S. President Donald Trump — who was wearing a Jewish skullcap. The offensive piece was drawn by Portuguese artist António Moreira Antunesas and published during the Passover holiday. The cartoon prompted an uproar within the Jewish community and sparked protests outside the Times’ office in New York City, with Israel’s ambassador to the U.N.

According to the poll, 71% of the voters say that the economy is "good" or "excellent," the highest proportion of favorable feelings on the economy in nearly 18 years of Quinnipiac's polling. Last month's economic data showed that unemployment in the United States had fallen to 3.6%, a 50-year low. That said, 45% of voters disapproved

The Supreme Court decided an Indiana abortion case last month with an unsigned, three-page compromise opinion that had something for both conservative and liberal justices to like. They quarreled anyway. It's been that way a lot this term. "Justice (Ruth Bader) Ginsburg's dissent ... makes little sense," Associate Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in a footnote to a 20-page concurrence. He said the state's regulation of fetal remains disposal, which the court upheld, does not burden the "mother's right to abort that (already aborted) child." "Justice Thomas's footnote displays more heat than light," Ginsburg responded, adding pointedly that "a woman who exercises her constitutionally protected right to terminate a pregnancy is not a 'mother.'"

California wants to look after its people, so it keeps expanding its social safety net. It also wants to welcome all comers and so embraces illegal immigrants and protects them in sanctuary cities. To see how this is working out, visit Skid Row in L.A. or neighborhoods in San Francisco or elsewhere where homeless camps are spreading. Caring for all Californians is made harder by the state importing as many non-Americans as possible. Naturally, climate change is getting the blame. “We are undoubtedly observing the effects of a warming climate in the Great Lakes,” says Richard Rood, a University of Michigan climate scientist. But just a few years ago, climate scientists were insisting that a warming climate would cause water levels to decline. In 2008, Science Daily reported on a study that attributed the decline in Great Lakes water levels to global warming.
