A sponsor has cut ties with a California minor league baseball team that played a Memorial Day video appearing to equate Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with the likes of Kim Jong Un and Fidel Castro. The Sun-Maid raisin company terminated its sponsorship of the Fresno Grizzlies on Wednesday, after the offensive video was played at halftime on Monday.(Snip) The video, which was shown on the scoreboard between games during Monday's doubleheader, featured several images of United States armed service members and had a voice over from President Ronald Reagan's 1981 inaugural address played throughout. Three minutes into the video

Comments:

When the Sun-Made raisin company says it's "misleading and offensive" to paint leftist radicals as enemies of the USA, they're also demanding to never receive another penny from me. Wish granted; they're added to my list.

Ah yes. .the raisin...that sticky staple of unfortunate kids' brown-bag lunches...sold in nasty recycled cardboard boxes...a poor man's substitute for chocolate chips...indistinguishable from a dehydrated rabbit dropping...edible only when soaked in gin for "medicinal" benefits...those Sun-Maid Raisins?

I've heard raisin sales are falling and they have been struggling to hold market share. This will only alienate many potential customers.

I am surprised this played at a baseball game. Really, the team could have left the last part of the video out. Not that it was incorrect, but now they angered the raisin company. Raisins? Ew.

These shocking pictures from downtown Los Angeles capture the growing problem it faces with trash and rodents in a desperate city also trying to contain a typhoid fever outbreak linked to worsening sanitary conditions. A decision to not cap the total amount of property that homeless people can keep on Skid Row was announced last Wednesday and it sparked fury among some officials who say it will ‘only perpetuate the public health crisis that already exists’ there. That, coupled with the news a Los Angeles police detective has been diagnosed with typhoid fever, has sparked concern among LA’s residents.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is worth $37billion (£28billion) and flies to 370 destinations on six continents with state-of-the-art aircraft. Truly, it’s a titan of aviation. But it started life as a crop-dusting outfit in 1924. And when it expanded to passenger transportation it used planes that could only hit 90mph, with the wind behind them. Delta has been on quite a journey, then—and these fascinating pictures illustrate the carrier’s dramatic transformation over the decades. They show some of its earliest passenger planes, a restored 1931 model with five passenger seats, a 1940 Douglas DC-3,

President Trump and his defenders can successfully attack former Special Counsel Robert Mueller or congressional Democrats on impeachment – but not both. The independent voters who will decide the 2020 election don’t have time for multiple sets of arguments. Moreover, independent voters have limited interest in all things political. So the president and his advocates should keep it simple and focus on Congress, not Mueller, who resigned Wednesday. Mueller didn’t say anything when he spoke to journalists Wednesday that hadn’t already appeared in his report. That was the point of his news conference.

AOC held the close gathering in the Bronx borough with Community Board 11 members but proved too controversial for two military veterans at least. One of the issues that sparked a sickening feeling in some was when a Middle Eastern member of the Community Board 11 asked for her thoughts on the conflict in Yemen. Ocasio-Cortez is said to have slammed the US role of providing weapons to the Saudi Arabian government in the civil war.
