The strange greatness of Donald Trump

Original Article

With the Democrats still trying to throw a Hail-Mueller Pass with time out on the scoreboard and with the economy humming, it’s time to confront the central issue: “Has Donald Trump been an awful, OK, or great president?” The president, unquestionably, is often appalling in his style.(Snip) And yet, over his first two years, he has enjoyed remarkable political, diplomatic, policy and leadership success. I personally don’t care for his style of management and governance, but I think there is a case to be made that he has been a great president.

‘...there is a case to be made that he has been a great president.’

‘In the field of “corruption,” he has been thoroughly investigated and there is nothing to match the smarmy signs of pay-to-play kickbacks alleged in the Clinton State Department.’

... and this was just the first half.
Well done, Grady Mesns.

It’s hard not to like the guy who says about people publicly what we dare only say in our living rooms.

I knew Hillary had lost the election when Trump called her “crooked” and she just stood there gobsmacked with no reply. There isn’t much of the old, “my esteemed opponent” smarminess in being called a crook who belongs in jail.

FTA: “If we’re looking for strong leadership to provide real opportunity for economic advancement for all Americans and a strong defense of America and its interests, then Trump has a claim to greatness over his current opponents and his predecessors.”

We are and he is it. One more major accomplishment for the President. He has done more to restore the rightful place that Christianity has had in this country than any other President in my lifetime. God bless him for it. I believe that is one reasons that the democrats hate him so violently and it, of course, one of the reasons Christians love and support him. Despite what the left says, Donald J. Trump has a keen sense of right and wrong that I believe has been shaped by his belief in God. He is the right man at the right time and I pray fervently that he is re-elected in an astounding landslide.

His opponents keep telling us that he lied about this thing or that thing, but I think he is an inherently honest man. I like Rinkum´s comment that he has a keen sense of right and wrong, and he and The First Lady do acknowledge that God exists which upsets a lot of people who think that they, themselves, are gods.

FTA:"Trump’s awkward attempt to equate the behavior of the white nationalist thugs who precipitated the Charlottesville carnage with the Antifa thugs who came prepared to inflict violence of their own was off the mark"

And yet again, another media elitist who refuses context. Trump DID NOT do what the author said he did. Damn, again, Trump was referring to the NON white racists on one side and the NON Antifa thugs on the other as being "good people" on both sides. And to put that on balance, on the Antifa side-MOST of them were members of Antifa while the white racist side, VERY, VERY FEW were in fact white racists. One of the white racist morons was a murderer and so as usual, the press implies that everyone on that side were supporters of murder which is simply light years away from the truth.

FTA:"and there is no “crisis.”"

Yes there is and it´s at the border thanks to the elected Marxists, the Depends wearing GOP and the Marxist judges. And, it´s REALLY bad. One thousand illegals flooding into 1,000 to 5,000 population US border towns PER DAY bad and being completely ignored of course because the truth helps Orange Man Bad and we can´t have that.

Other than my two beefs above, the author got much of the rest correct.

Just about everyone knew that Donald Trump had a rough and tumble business life years ago in a very tough New York City. That does not mean that he violated the tax laws and you can bet your boots that since Trump was a well known personality that if he had, the IRS would have prosecuted or otherwise sanctioned him years ago. To say that Trump lost more money in his business affairs than any other American is a great big politically based stretch, as the media routinely reports that business people and interests lose billions of dollars.

What does all that past history have to do with the job that Trump is now doing as President?

Besides a lot of that material could actually be fake?

The only thing "strange" about his greatness is the bizarre insanity of his detractors who either can´t bring themselves to acknowledge the patently obvious or who purposely lie about it.

In fact, just objectively observing how he has been dealing with the non-stop obstruction to his every move and hyperbole about his motivations, his demeanor has been remarkably even-keeled and respectful of legal process. He is the antithesis of the false assertions of being a Hitler.

I suspect that that cool, calm moderation is exactly what drives his detrators nuts. They want so badly to infuriate him or be noticed by him, but they don´t even manage a blip on his radar. And they get nuttier by the day.

Donald Trump is a truly great President. Perhaps even the greatest ever, given how relentlessly and savagely he has been unjustly maligned. (Trigger warning to snowflakes and RINOs)...really, he should be added to Mt. Rushmore.

As far as grace and manners, imo manners requires first of all putting others at ease, which Trump does, and also being true to friendships, which he is, and thirdly giving and receiving true hospitality that others enjoy - he gets A Plus. As far as grace goes, a faraway impression is that he can when he wants but at times grace and manners conflict, and when so he goes for Putting Others at Ease, and quite right of him too. I am not going to be pushed into finding fault just because Democrats scream their wrong opinions in our faces 24h a day.

Both during and after the Civil War (aka, War between the States), General Robert E. was respected as an honorable man on both sides of the conflict. He fought for states rights for Virginia, not slavery. After the war, he did much to heal the wounds of the war and restore the union.

As Reply 11 points out, Grady Means misquotes what Trump said. Trump understood that Lee´s history was more complex and there were valid arguments on both of the peaceful sides of the Lee statue issue.

I always believed if we could get a President who was willing to tell these groups to shove it up their $&s, that there would be opportunity to destroy them. And so it is happening.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

Normalization has proceeded so quickly, Dubai already has a kosher restaurant, and its supermarkets are stocking Israeli agricultural products festooned with Stars of David — a science-fictional sight only a year ago.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
