I´m not your average American. I pay close attention to what´s going on in national politics and I keep up on the news as reported from both the left and the right. It´s not that I´m bragging or saying I´m any better than anyone else, it just so happens that as a social and political essayist I´m obliged to know this stuff. Because I dig deeper than most people I can usually sort out the facts from the fake. One thing I´ve learned over time is that the progressive left does not engage in truth nor does it

Certainly we can stipulate ignorance, but do not underestimate the evil. Ignorance can be an honest mistake. The actions of the left are intentional, and they know the effect.

AMEN, Greg Crosby!
I pray every day that eyes are opened and hearts changed to the good.
Honest mistakes are still mistakes. America can´t afford that kind of ignorance in the voting booth.
WTP may have to spread the truth by word of mouth, or whatever means available to go over and around the heads of those with evil intentions. The tongue and pen (and keyboard) are small instruments, but mighty.

Great article and worth reading.
Many Americans have the attention span of a gnat and rather watch to the View or major news channels and regurgitate their hate.
Soon as Obola started the shucking and jiving, I realized he spent years reading self help books and learned to say what people wanted to hear.
It is time to stop the ´eye roll´ and stand up and speak up.

Short and pithy, i nominate this for Must Reads.
As Crosby notes, most people vote out of ignorance and are compelled by emotional responses or feelings. I love his example from Dickens.
I had occasion to observe this phenomenon in a very dear friend, smart and accomplished, but as it turned out, lacking in what The Philosopher said a good society (polis) requires in its Citizens, and that is Practical Wisdom, i.e., common sense.
But one must have the facts or pursue the facts and the truth in order to inform one´s judgments.
So that´s where we´re in danger, because MSM will not report on the facts and evidence, they don´t care about finding the truth or being fair in any sense of the word.
More people are discovering the mendacity and the powerful biases of the Leftists in all media. But those emerging from the mental strait-jackets, aka universities, really have been brainwashed, and escapees from those ideological catacombs are few and far between.

American ignorance is what gave us sixteen destructive years of Clinton and Obama. Sheer inertia is what keeps Pelosi and her ilk in Congress.

Good article, the writer´s point is trenchant. We on the conservative side tend to overlook the very real difference between credibility and being believed. Credibility is a moral or intellectual concept. The MSM lost theirs long ago, but it does not follow that they are no longer widely believed. For far too many voters the pablum and crafted lies they are served up on "the news" provides the basis for their opinions and perceptions.

Greg Cosby has an excellent line about knowing in advance that obama was a leftist. "I knew from the start that the guy was a leftist but that was because I was paying attention." Truth is, anyone who made any effort at all to pay attention during the primaries saw the exact same things because once the general campaign cycle started, obama changed out of his bright orange socialist jumper into an empty, centrist, dark suit. Well, the same goes for the 2020 campaigns right now. As of this morning, there is a record number of declared democrat candidates and all of them are trying to out-leftist the rest. That will change when the primary is over and the true race begins. And guaranteed, those who do not pay attention now are destined to be suckered in by an extreme leftist....again. Vote for who you´re going to vote for but, afterwards, ignorance of the candidates was no excuse.

Thankfully our Founding Fathers feared the ignorance of the masses, and built in some safeguards. And wisely they allowed for changes, but only with super-majority support.
For example, the average person is probably blithely ignorant about why the Electoral College was devised. But their ignorance (and laziness) does not overrule it - so far.

The media intentionally controls the news by what they DON´T report. How can the public know about something they aren´t made aware of?
We deceive ourselves if we don´t acknowledge that BOTH sides have an agenda. BOTH sides are trying to control the news by featuring narratives and facts that fit their agendas and withholding information that does not. If you were to only watch CNN and FNC for a full day, you would think you were living in some alternate reality or on different planets.
Where is the truth? Probably somewhere in-between the opposing views.
I try to listen to both sides, sort through the bee ess, and make my judgments based on the most accurate information I can gather. The media is keenly aware that most people don´t have the time to do that. CNN has successfully saturated the world market in public spaces and so has a large captive audience for their singular liberal agenda. The viewing public is receiving distorted news...INTENTIONALLY cherry-picked, selective news... and often doesn´t realize it.
That´s the real "American ignorance."
