Now that Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) has come out in opposition to President Donald Trump on the issue of obstruction of justice, as outlined in the Mueller report, the mainstream media is rushing to apologize to the former presidential candidate for doubting his warnings about Russia. (Video) On Friday, Romney released a statement, essentially condemning President Trump´s behavior in the days and weeks following the opening of Mueller´s investigation, and accusing the Trump campaign of ignoring evidence that Russia was making a concerted effort to undermine the 2016 presidential elections. New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof spent yet another Easter Sunday trying to see just how little one can believe of Christianity’s anchoring ideas, and still consider oneself a Christian. Kristof refers to these regular interviews with theological figures as “my occasional series of conversations about Christianity.” All have the same theme -- seeing if one can get away with calling oneself a Christian if you don’t actually buy that whole virgin birth and Resurrection mythology. Fortunately for him, this year’s interviewee was on Kristof’s wavelength. This year he talked with Serene Jones, Protestant minister and president of Union Theological

SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla.– A dog found abandoned in Colorado has been returned to its family, nearly two years after it was stolen in Florida as a puppy.Animal charity organization Wings of Rescue says the German Shepherd named Cedar was covered with snow in a rural Colorado ditch, apparently malnourished with an injured leg when a deputy marshal found her. The pet was identified thanks to its microchip. The youngest of four dogs in the Peterson family, Cedar was stolen from their backyard in May 2017 in the town of Southwest Ranches, north of Miami. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s surging national profile has inspired a trio of Republican opponents from her home district — along with a multimillionaire mystery donor who could help close the gap in her foes’ long-shot race against her. Just three months after taking office, the Democratic socialist congresswoman’s challengers include an Egyptian American journalist, who has already tossed her hat in the ring, and an NYPD cop-turned-high-school-civics teacher and conservative talk-radio producer, both of whom are seriously exploring a run against her. And the fledgling challengers could get help from a wealthy New Yorker committed to backing an Ocasio-Cortez opponent, a GOP

When Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat wired $2.75 million to Michael Avenatti in January 2017, the pro basketball player intended most of the money to go to his former girlfriend, Alexis Gardner. Avenatti was Gardner’s attorney. An actress and barista, she’d hired him just a few weeks before to negotiate a settlement of a potential lawsuit against Whiteside. It’s unclear what she would have alleged. Avenatti quickly struck a $3 million deal, and the $2.75 million was Whiteside’s first payment. Avenatti, prosecutors say, was entitled to take just over $1 million in legal fees, leaving the rest for Gardner.

I had a good first night of Passover seder in my new Nashville home thanks to some friends who took us to the impressive local Chabad. Chabad, to their credit, likes to make sure no Jew is left out on the holidays. (There were plenty of gentiles at the festivity as well.) Also to their credit, this consistently outreaching branch of the Hasidic movement is determinedly upbeat, looking to the future and the joy of life for all. L´chaim! Buried in special counsel Robert Mueller´s 400-plus page report is the question of whether then-president-elect Donald Trump attended a 2016 championship chess tournament — an event that came under scrutiny as Mueller probed possible collusion between Trump´s orbit and the Russian government. The apotheosis of the Left’s 21st-Century lunacy is its insistence that disagreeing with leftist dogma–declining to accept the “trans” farce, for example–is “violence” that demands suppression, while actual violence by leftists like Antifa–bashing people in the head with a baseball bat, for instance–is merely free speech exercised by “protesters.” No one in the world, with the possible exception of a handful of mis-educated college professors and students, is dumb enough to be fooled by that inversion. In his long-awaited report, special counsel Robert Mueller found that the evidence failed to establish “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia. In addition, he did not find that President Trump committed obstruction of justice, the only other offense discussed in the report. By contrast, independent counsel Kenneth Starr, in his 1998 report, established that President Clinton perjured himself during a civil deposition, conspired to obstruct justice, violated criminal prohibitions against witness tampering, and perjured himself before a grand jury. When congressional Republicans commenced impeachment proceedings against Clinton, congressional Democrats and their media allies were outraged. Even though the evidence established

First of all, about reparations, the notion of paying money to black or partially black Americans for the enslavement of their ancestors from Africa. It’s a beguiling idea. Slavery was so hideous a crime and caused so much pain and suffering that something should be done about it. But we face a lot of problems in the concept of reparations. For one thing, there were a fair number of black people who emancipated themselves through superhumanly hard work, then used their savings to buy slaves. How do we assess their liability? For another, the conditions of slaves varied wildly.

As Democrats privately admit to themselves that there was no Russian collusion, they’ve also shifted gears to focus on the question of obstruction of justice. Despite the Mueller investigation being loaded with anti-Trumpers, even they weren’t able to say that any obstruction occurred. If there’s anything the release of the Mueller report has exposed, it’s not criminal behavior or even impeachable offenses of President Trump, but rather the hypocrisy of Democrats who are willing to call anything an impeachable offense with Trump but pretended the corruption that occurred under Barack Obama was all above board.

LOS ANGELES — Roman Polanski asked a judge Friday to restore his membership in the organization that bestows the Academy Awards nearly a year after he was expelled from it for sexual misconduct. Lawyers for the 85-year-old fugitive director petitioned Los Angeles Superior Court to compel the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to make him a member in good standing again. In May, the academy made the rare move of expelling Polanski and Bill Cosby, months after ending the membership of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Polanski appealed the decision, and in January the academy rejected his appeal.

True story: My wife and I both are former residents of New York City, and on a recent business trip there she was taking a nostalgic walk through the Upper West Side on a lovely fall day, talking to me on the phone about the possibility of moving back there. And then the crusty guy walking in front of her on the sidewalk stopped, dropped trou and took a dump right there on the sidewalk on Central Park West. “Never mind,” she said. We live in Texas, where we don’t have any state or local income tax or languish

The Great Synagogue of Warsaw ´reappeared´ in the Polish capital on Thursday, 76 years after it was destroyed by the Nazis during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Artist Gabi von Seltmann used projectors to recreate the place of worship against the facade of the modern building which now stands in its place. Recordings of the synagogue´s cantor Gerszon Sirota, who died in the ghetto, were used to recreate the sounds of Jewish Warsaw .The light-and-sound show, taking place for the second year, was designed to remind Poles of a history which has now largely disappeared from the city.

NEW YORK – There´s at least one area of agreement among conservative, centrist and liberal leaders in the United Methodist Church: America´s largest mainline Protestant denomination is on a path toward likely breakup over differences on same-sex marriage and ordination of LGBT pastors. The differences have simmered for years, and came to a head in February at a conference in St. Louis where delegates voted 438-384 for a proposal called the Traditional Plan, which strengthens bans on LGBT-inclusive practices. A majority of U.S.-based delegates opposed that plan and favored LGBT-friendly options, but they were outvoted
