Buildings like Notre Dame do not erupt into flames spontaneously. That’s not how God works, even to punish a civilization as deep in moral ruin as ours. My suspicions, and those of almost everyone I know, are hardly calmed when we see Fox News—yes, even Fox—repeatedly refusing to host an honest discussion of the possibility, even as experts tell French TV that eight hundred year old timber simply doesn’t burn that way without an accelerant. I mean, it’s not as though news networks restrain their hosts from wild speculation during other crises. So, understandably, the first reaction from anyone who has
Facts no longer matter to this media. The answer will be a "contractor oopsy"....regardless of what they find. They will never tell the truth to the public, because the truth will not be convenient.

Stop spreading nonsense - obviously some of the original 13th century wiring in the roof short circuited.....
The WSJ had a good story this AM in which they admitted people routinely climbed the scaffolding. Anyone could have gone up there.

I had a house fire several years ago. An outlet shorted out and within minutes, my master bedroom was engulfed. That I live within a mile of the fire department is tge only reason that the entire structure wasnt lost.
I will grant that timbers just dont errupt into flames, but we dont know what else was in the attic that would have spread the fire faster. I.e boxes, rags, building materials, flammable liquids, etc. Compound this with the difficulty of getting into the attic to fight the fire.
Im not saying that it was or wasn´t accidental or arson. We dont know. We dont have enough facts at this time to draw any conclusions. And to my knowledge, no islamic group has taken responsibility. Those animals will claim responsibility for a turned ham sandwich if it advances their reputation for terror.
Ill wait for the reports before drawing conclusions.

I am still convinced in my heart that this was arson and was done by a member of the "Religion of Peace". I´m not Catholic myself. I´m Lutheran. I am always in awe of a great Catholic Cathedral when attending a wedding or some other function. I wish I had seen Notre Dame and heard the organ. It had to be glorious. It´s been standing since the 13th century, taking 200 years to build and POOF it goes up in flames during Holy Week as we ponder the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins? I think I am still in shock at the pictures I saw! Milo is right. The new church will certainly be built politically correct by a corrupt left wing French government! Maybe we did deserve this if one ponders the scope of abuse by those in power within the Catholic Church. Was it God´s judgement? That is coming and will be much scarier to non-believers than this act of nature or treachery!

The devastating at fire in Notre Dame was started by a carelessly discarded cigarette butt. No, it was likely a short in a contractor’s tool. But we professional journalists refuse to speculate on the cause. We leave that amateurish sort of guesswork to our ignorant customers.
What we certainly won’t mention is the person caught on camera firing a flare gun down into the superstructure from high in the rafters. Not on my watch. That would be irresponsible.

The building of Notre Dame was to honor the Mother of Our Savior. In those days cathedrals were built by master craftsmen. What helped these men is their gift from God was used for the greater Honor and Glory of God. Giving back to God what He has given us. People just don’t do that anymore. Rebuilding ND just to get a “building” rebuilt takes the meaning of the structure away.

Right now, no one knows what caused the fire. They should hire a firm that does failure analysis to investigate. Until then, people should be allowed to discuss their theories, arson or not.

Thank you, Lucianne and Tianne for posting this from Milo Yiannopoulos. He was such a good man, honest in his commentary and a genuine caring soul. This from a man who wants nothing to do with the Gay lifestyle.
The left destroyed him for doing what they regularly practice. His article is eloquent and honestly the best article I have read on the fire. People don´t write like this anymore...I encourage everyone to read it and pass it around.

The bad thing about this is that we are told, before any investigation is concluded, that it was not arson by a certain person(s), of a certain religion. It may be an honest effort to avoid outrage and conflict, but those people of a certain religion have set the stage for that and it is not unreasonable for people to suspect them.

To a certain extent I agree with Milo that the church should remain as is to remind us of our failings. However, another part of me wants it rebuilt as best as can be so that those that oppose Christianity don´t have the last word.

The value of the Cathedral at Notre Dame is spiritual not physical. Such drama over the destruction of a building is unwarranted. It doesn´t matter if it is rebuilt or not, the muslims have achieved their goal.
It has been the practice of radical islamists to destroy the history of the countries that they have conquered. Iraq, Syria, Egypt, all of them have had monuments and historically valuable artifacts destroyed just as thoroughly as the Great Library of Alexandria was burned by Mohammed´s filthy, evil spawn. It is their way.
Even if the French authorities find the traces of gasoline or other accelerants that caused the fire, what makes us think that they will admit one of their greatest mistakes ever and reveal it to the public?

Yeah, the buildings would indeed spontaneously combust if God wanted them to. But I agree that God didn´t burn this cathedral. This was a mortal occurrence, not a divine one. I was so happy though to find out the stained glass Rose windows survived, along with a wall of glass.
Say what you will about the Catholic church at the moment, this is a magnificent building in its design and construction. I don´t see anything like it in the West, only places like Singapore and Hong Kong.
I was deeply troubled by the idea that somebody could torch this building. If they want to torch this one, what else are they going to attempt? Parliament? Westminster Abbey? That is what the authorities should be concerned with at the moment.

The building self-ignited when it realized that people like Pelosi make believe they are Catholics ( photo today of her with ashes on her forehead ) and then promote non-Christian activities ( like abortion ). She and her ilk are religions unto themselves. Can you imagine a priest taking her ´confession´, when she lies on an ongoing basis.

200 years of neglect will do that for you.
Notre Dame should have been given a major restoration a long time ago. But the French Revolution intervened. Louis XVI was going to restore the place? Give me a break!
Seriously. Buildings have to be repaired. Beams rot, dry out, and become brittle. This is a fact. Actually should have been done 400 years ago, but Louis XIII was too busy. It only took 200 years for our own White House to need complete rebuilding.
It is not the fault of the U.S. It is the fault of Paris, and of France. They let us down.

He asks at the end, "Did we deserve this?" Does he mean the destruction of Notre Dame or does he mean Notre Dame itself?
