This year’s America 250 celebrations are the biggest national celebration since the Bicentennial. We’re a much different nation than we were back then. Even a few years after Watergate and President Richard Nixon’s resignation, the urge to politicize everything just didn’t dominate people’s minds. I was only three in the summer of 1976, so my memories of the Bicentennial aren’t all that vivid. I remember seeing the logo everywhere and hearing people talk about it, but the only specific memory I have is seeing the parade of the tall ships on television. The Lincoln Memorial’s hidden 15,000-square-foot chamber opens to the public Thursday after a century-long closure.
The chamber — located beneath the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall — had sat vacant since the 1920s akin to a “two-story shopping mall” with 122 giant concrete pillars, according to Fox News.
The memorial’s undercroft features interactive exhibits, construction tools left in 1920 and preserved vandalism from the original construction, the outlet reported.
Among the artifacts in the undercroft exhibit are original copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment bearing President Abraham Lincoln’s signature, according to Fox News.

The Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool has become the latest target in the left's war on anything Donald Trump touches, and the radical left isn't even trying to hide it anymore.
According to reports circulating on social media, the National Guard and Park Police have ramped up patrols around the reflecting pool amid threats from leftists vowing to sabotage the recently renovated landmark. Independent journalist Nick Sortor sounded the alarm on the brazen plot.
"American workers are pushing around the clock to finish the pool by July 4, but liberals have a vested interest in destroying it for some reason," Sortor wrote.

A Somalian flag that was raised outside of Buffalo’s City Hall to commemorate Somali Independence Day was stolen in an overnight heist, the city’s leftist mayor decried.
“The City of Buffalo’s flagpole in Niagara Square sustained damage after unknown vandals broke the access panel, cut the cable, and removed the Somali flag during the overnight hours of Wednesday, July 1,” Mayor Sean Ryan wrote on Facebook.

I was 12 in 1976. My parents took all five of us kids to Washington DC and Philadelphia for the Bicentennial. I remember walking around, seeing the original Constitution, the Smithsonian and the Hope Diamond, Statuary Hall on the Congress building and then in Philly, the Liberty Bell and Constitution Hall. We also went to Harper's Ferry in VA on that trip. I remember walking through that town and seeing the church high on the hill. Wonderful trip for a kid to go on and still lots of memories. Also, like in this article, everyone was proud to be American and red, white and blue EVERYTHING was EVERYWHERE!!
