It is both amazing and sad how the United States Supreme Court decision on birthright citizenship has taken up all of the oxygen in the news cycle and in the minds of many Americans. This has overshadowed some of the other equally important decisions, like the one in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J., holding that states may reserve girls' and women's sports teams for biological females without violating Title IX or the Constitution.

Insurgent socialist candidate Melat Kiros defeated longtime Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) Tuesday in Colorado’s 1st District House primary, marking the latest blow to the establishment wing of the Democratic Party.
Kiros came out on top of the incumbent, 49.3% to 43.5%, by the time the Associated Press called the race late Tuesday.

A 31-year-old Florida woman died after an alligator bit off one of her arms and mauled the other at a state park near Orlando, authorities and a 911 call revealed Monday. The victim had been hiking with her boyfriend and her best friend Sunday in Little Big Eco State Forest when they waded into the Econlockhatchee River to cool off, said Grant Eller, a lieutenant with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was found “unconscious” and may have suffered a heart attack at his DC residence before being rushed to a local hospital last month, according to a District Fire and EMS dispatch call made public Wednesday.
The June 14 call referenced medical personnel in an ALS, or Advanced Life Support, ambulance being sent to the home shortly before 9 a.m. and mentioned there was “CPR in progress” for a “cardiac arrest.” Punchbowl News first reported on the EMS radio traffic.
Reps for the former Senate GOP leader did not comment on the communications.
California schools will be required to offer students access to at least one all-gender bathroom starting Wednesday under a new statewide mandate — a move that’s stoking anger from conservatives and concerned parents who say Sacramento is putting politics ahead of education.
The requirement, which takes effect July 1, stems from a 2023 law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom as part of a package of legislation aimed at supporting the state’s LGBTQ community. Supporters said the measure would make schools more welcoming for transgender students.

The University of Tennessee has agreed to pay former assistant professor Tamar Shirinian $1.9 million to settle a lawsuit after she was fired over a social media post celebrating the death of Turning Point CEO and conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Under the settlement, approved by the University of Tennessee System Board of Trustees, Shirinian will not return to her teaching position.
