Everyone knows about “the fog of war.” What about the fog of prewar? There are a lot of similarities. In the fog of war, you can’t trust media reports, in part because the media have been fed disinformation by government sources and in part because much of the media is partisan, incompetent, or both.
The same is true in the fog of prewar. There is lots of disinformation, oodles of partisan reporting, impatient jockeying for position, precedence, and “the scoop.” But the distorting miasma of prewar exhibits something else: irritable impatience. “Why aren’t the authorities doing something? Where are they?”

For decades, K–12 schools across the United States have honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a way that reflected both his values and his example. On MLK Day, children have volunteered at food pantries, assembled hygiene kits for shelters, cleaned up local parks and donated books to libraries.
The message was simple and powerful: citizenship requires service, and freedom comes with responsibility.
After 15 years of advocacy, President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law in 1983, establishing the third Monday in January as a federal holiday. It was meant to be a unifying moment in American civic life —

There’s seemingly no escape from New York – the New York tax man, that is.
The Empire State is “extremely aggressive” in chasing down wealthy people who attempt to escape high taxes with moves to Florida and beyond – and that could escalate as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani works to increase taxes on top earners, experts told The Post.
Many New Yorkers who mull a move believe it’s enough to follow the “six-months-and-a-day” rule, which maintains you’re a resident if you spend 184 days or more in New York, not including airport layovers and hospital stays.

President Trump has warned America’s European allies “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace” after he missed out on last year’s Nobel Prize amid a new round of threats to annex Greenland.
Trump’s text message, initially sent to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, was forwarded to NATO ambassadors in DC.
A source familiar with the note’s contents confirmed its authenticity to The Post.
“Dear Jonas,” reads the message, first reported by PBS. “Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant,

When people travel for a training class, they often drive. Transporting guns then is relatively easy, all things considered, though there are some things folks should be aware of. Others fly, and they transport their guns via their flight, but that's kind of a pain in the butt, too.
But what about when your gun needs to go to the other side of the country, but you don't? With anything else, you just ship it. You put it in a box, weigh it, and find the cheapest acceptable shipping option. While my experience tends to put the USPS at the bottom of that list,

As I write this article, the situation in Iran is unclear. Although Iran’s brutal regime is unlikely to fall in the near term, I believe the country will never be the same, and the end of this regime is in sight. There are steps the U.S. should take to accelerate the Iranian regime’s demise and prepare for a new democratic government.
Thousands of peaceful demonstrators, perhaps tens of thousands, have been killed by the Iranian regime over the last two weeks. President Trump said on Wednesday that the Iranian government claimed there will be no further shootings and executions of demonstrators.

Contrary to the media’s blaring headlines about “the health care crisis,” there’s another question the press should answer but won’t. To wit: Why is it only a “crisis” when a Covid-era entitlement expires on Republicans’ watch?
While Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., eggs on the press by pontificating about a “health care crisis” caused by the recent expiration of enhanced Obamacare subsidies, he and his colleagues selectively and cynically ignore the recent past. The same Senate Democrats who now call the lapse of enhanced Obamacare subsidies a “crisis” let a far larger Covid-era program expire on their own party’s watch with barely a peep of objection.

The following is an eyewitness account from a young Iranian woman based in Tehran, who does not want to be identified for safety reasons. She has been cut off from contact with the outside world since the Iranian government instituted a media blackout, but on Monday briefly managed to receive messages from The Post. Over several hours, with a very patchy connection, she shared a harrowing — but hopeful — account of what is happening on the ground right now. Here are her words:

The average national price for a gallon of gas dropped to $2.796, the lowest we’ve seen since 2021, per AAA.For obvious reasons, the White House is eager to spread this good news.
“In 43 states, the average gas price is below $3/gal. In 30 states, it’s below $2.75/gal,” wrote the White House’s official Rapid Response X account. “In 17 states, it’s at or below $2.50/gal.”The cost of gas is the tip of the wedge to achieve that new word everyone’s using these days: affordability. Those gas station signs we all pass displaying that day’s cost per gallon acts as a national barometer about how we feel about the economy.

President Trump declared Monday that the US would be “screwed” if the Supreme Court rules against his reciprocal tariff policies — arguing the feds would have to “pay back” billions in revenue collected over the past year.
“[I]f the Supreme Court rules against the United States of America on this National Security bonanza, WE’RE SCREWED!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“The actual numbers that we would have to pay back if, for any reason, the Supreme Court were to rule against the United States of America on Tariffs, would be many Hundreds of Billions of Dollars,”

British Defence Secretary John Healey has ruffled the feathers of the Kremlin after saying that he would like to capture Russian leader Vladimir Putin and put him on trial for war crimes. In the wake of the stunning display of military prowess by the Trump administration’s pre-dawn operation that saw the toppling and capture of Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro, UK Defence Secretary John Healey openly pined for the ability to exact the same fate on the President of nuclear power Russia, Vladimir Putin.During a visit to Ukraine on Friday, the Labour politician said in comments reported —

The West should ban radical Islamist groups and back President Donald Trump’s suggestion of military action to suppose “the good guys” on the ground in Iran, said Brexit leader Nigel Farage on Monday.Reform UK leader and Brexit pioneer Nigel Farage has stepped up his longstanding support of the Persian people and the return of the country’s former monarchy on Monday, addressing a rally outside the Iranian embassy. Handed the microphone at the protest, Mr Farage declared “freedom for Iran”, hailed the “beautiful Persian people”, and hailed victory, “whatever the terrible price being paid by many innocent people in every Iranian city right now”.
