The antics of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have been much in the news of late, but the corporate media has studiously ignored the legal and historical context of his refusal to comply with federal immigration law. Minnesota is just one of 16 Democrat-controlled states that have enacted measures that violate the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2), which provides that federal law takes precedence over conflicting laws passed by states. These Democrats are reenacting the nullification crisis that historians regard as a precursor to the Civil War.

Remember 2020, the halcyon days of mask mandates? I was working in New Jersey when the entire COVID panic started, and one would have thought the very air had turned radioactive. Many people accepted it as a silly necessity, but there are always those who take things to a ridiculous level. We all remember the sights of people driving alone, in their personal cars, wearing masks, or walking alone, outside, on a sunny day, again wearing a mask. That's OK. I've always thought that stupid people should be conspicuous.

Last Thursday Vice President JD Vance joined a White House press briefing to discuss initiatives the Trump administration is taking to investigate the pervasive welfare fraud that has been discovered in Minnesota. He was inevitably asked questions about the death of Renee Good after she attempted to drive her SUV over an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Vance described the media coverage of the death as “disgraceful,” and followed up with this question: “You guys are meant to report the truth. How have you let yourselves become agents of propaganda?”
It was hardly necessary to consult the Delphic Oracle to know that every Democrat within reach of a microphone would denounce President Trump’s military action against Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. It was, however, surprising to discover how ignorant the Democrats are about the President’s authority to deploy military forces. Saturday morning, for example, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) brayed, “The Trump administration has not sought congressional authorization for the use of military force and has failed to properly notify Congress in advance of the operation in Venezuela.” Jeffries is evidently unaware of the War Powers Resolution of 1973 (WPR).

It took me months to understand the whole concept of "woke right," and, to be honest, I still dislike the description because it takes so long to grasp.
While I basically agree with James Lindsey's arguments, it's a branding fail. Memes should be intuitive, IMHO. So what IS the woke right, and why would I put Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and Andrew Tate in that category, along with others?

I'm not sure if you all remember hearing the phrase, something like '$40M a week is still going to the Taliban.' Sounds incredible, right? Like, how could that possibly be?Well, it turns out to be entirely possible and partially true, and it all blew up this week with a report of a shipment of $45M in cold hard American greenbacks that was rumored to have been flown out to the murderous goatherders running Afghanistan.

Naturally, everyone righteously lost their collective minds reading headlines like these.
The New Yorker at 100, a new documentary airing on Netflix, has a lot going for it. The impressive history of the legendary magazine, going back to the 1920s, is recounted, and great contemporary writers, like music critic Kelefa Sanneh, are interviewed. Where it falls down is in avoiding the New Yorker’s worst mistakes, namely falling for Russiagate and perpetuating the Brett Kavanaugh fiasco.
It’s a shame, because The New Yorker at 100 does cop to serious mistakes - most obviously, the fact, revealed years later, that parts of Truman Capote’s 1965 crime story In Cold Blood were made up.

From the moment Elon Musk began musing about buying Twitter in 2022, the left began warning that his pledge to restore free speech to the social media platform was a threat to democracy. To most Americans this claim had a distinctly Orwellian ring and very few voters shared the fear that the platform could be used by conservative extremists to spread “disinformation” that would present a danger to the republic. What the left really feared, of course, was that Musk would reveal that Twitter was an integral part of the censorship-by-proxy strategy used by the government to silence inconvenient speech.
As soon as Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her vice presidential nominee in 2024, I gagged and shook my head. I grew up in Minnesota and had a lovely childhood there. It's filled with kind, hardworking people. Beautiful lakes dot the land, and winter can be magical (though long). It's still ranked one of the healthiest states to live in.
But I wouldn't live there now, even if Walz himself paid me millions to move back to the North Star State and personally escorted me

“The far-right has coined a new derogatory term for white women, which has gained traction following the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, in Minneapolis earlier this month,” reports The Independent. The objectionable term is the acronym AWFUL, which stands for Affluent White Female Urban Liberal. Another variant is AWFL. The New York Times was the first paper to report on this new “offensive” term.

Anti-ICE protest disrupted a Sunday church service in Minneapolis after a group of activists entered a congregation and forced worship to stop, according to footage shared online.
The incident occurred at Cities Church, a Southern Baptist Convention congregation, where protesters stormed into the sanctuary chanting anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement slogans. The group alleged that one of the church’s lead pastors was affiliated with ICE, a claim the protesters repeated while interrupting the service.
Video from inside the church shows congregants visibly shaken with the service ultimately being shut down. It is unclear how the protesters obtained the information that led them to target the church.

Swalwell explained that he would “direct law enforcement” officials to use “every power to prosecute” ICE officials for “battery, false imprisonment, and murder,” according to the outlet.
