American society is facing three existential crises not unlike those that overcame the late Roman, and a millennium later, terminal Byzantine, empires. Most know the result of such Medieval street living is unhealthy, violent, and lethal for all concerned. Yet no one knows—or even seems to worry about—how to stop it. So public defecation, urination, fornication, and injection continue unabated. Progressive urban pedestrians pass by holding their noses, averting their gazes, and accelerating the pace of their walking.

America has a Death Wish, and it is being fulfilled. You may not like it, you may not agree, you may be one of the delusional pathetic few who really believe that "America's best days are ahead," but there it is.

It's too late. The barbarians are already inside the gates. We don't have a Flavius Belisarius to protect us. We are lost to the dustbin of history. We will become a vassal state of the Chicoms. Learn Mandarin ASAP to survive.

FTA: “ And then the few sowed the wind, and so the many now reap their whirlwind.” Actually I don’t believe the few sowed the wind, I believe it was many on both sides of the political spectrum and from every walk of life. Ultimately, it was driven by a love of money. Peel back the culture onion and at its core is an insatiable lust to acquire material things that boost them into the stratosphere of celebrity. Music, movies, and celebrity worships the ability to have whatever the heart desires, the homes, the cars, the clothes. It is a hedonistic lifestyle centered around acquiring whatever the heart desires achieved by whatever means is necessary. No endeavor is too sordid as long as it delivers the cash. The political culture is very much the same. Politicians will do anything to attain power that is driven by an insatiable lust for control. They have no self-restraint or sense of right and wrong. Morality, integrity, and basic decency have been abandoned in the pursuit of control through political correctness. We have lost our way. Shiny things, instant gratification and political power are gods for many Americans. The country as founded has gone off the rails. We sit in our homes watching our beloved country being destroyed from within and are horrified. Most of us are worried, anxious for our children and grandchildren, and are coming to the realization that we are witnessing the fall of this great nation in real time. I don’t believe we can save ourselves from what is coming without divine intervention. Many of our young people have been brainwashed and far too many adults do not have the desire or courage to do what needs to be done. Our children are targets of depravity and we can’t even manage to voice our outrage without our government coming down hard on us. We are paying a very high price for embracing the secular philosophy of whoever ends up with the most things, wins. Americans have always strived to have bigger and better things which in itself is not wrong. However, when the acquirement of those things is achieved by any means possible, it becomes a real problem. The government knows this soul numbing culture is not sustainable. It is producing violence that will destroy us. Those in power have no plan to curb the horror that fills the nightly news. They have neither the will or the means. This will play out to its logical conclusion. No civilization in the annuls of history has been able to pull back from the destruction that is coming. There is a point of no return and we are nearly there. We are going to need divine intervention to change our trajectory and that comes from humbling ourselves before God, confessing our wrongdoing and sincerely praying for mercy.

#3, I'll do you one better. Bill 'Bubba' Clinton. Not having sexual 'relations'. An evil harridan running the country while Bill was getting 'busy'. I sense the decline accelerated from that point. The 1960's radicals started the slide, but Bill's administration helped increase the rate of descent tremendously. Am praying for this still-great nation. And yes, #1, our greatest days ARE still ahead.

What a feast of truth from this great patriot - but sad and frightening truth. Many of us never dreamed our country could fall so fast into chaos (in many respects) and authoritarianism. And hate, distrust and violence between the races has been promoted and nourished by ‘the Left’ in America - but why? Incredible and unforgivable. Always in my mind and heart are those who have sacrificed beyond measure to keep the rest of us safe and protect our freedoms - now being trampled upon by the Democrat Party and their powerful allies. Thank you, Victor Davis Hanson, for your civility and wisdom - and heart.

FTA: “…our catastrophe arose from our most highly educated, the wealthiest and most privileged in American history with the greatest sense of self-esteem and sanctimoniousness. Sometime around the millennium, they felt their genius could change human nature and bring an end to history—if only they had enough power to force hoi polloi to follow their abstract and bankrupt theories that they had no intention of abiding by themselves.” But - - - “…the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” Jeremiah 10:23 Deuteronomy 6:1-19 1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it: 2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged. 3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. 10 And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, 11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; 12 Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 13 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. 14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; 15 (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. 16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. 17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee. 18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers. 19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken. Hosea 4:1-12 1 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. 3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. 4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. 5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. 9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. 10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord. 11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. 12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

Brilliant analysis, as usual, from VDH. We all know that the solution is simple, insane asylums, prisons and proper punishment or treatment for the small percentage of the population that continue to commit crimes and make life dangerous and unpleasant for the rest of their neighbors. The cost of doing it right would be far cheaper than the billions of dollars that are dumped on temporary treatment and support of the parasite class. Leftists brainwash each other into thinking that they are doing the right thing when, in reality, they are making the problem worse. The Romans gave up Rome for the remote countryside and the impassable swamps of Venice just as decent citizens here are leaving the blue cities. All we can do is prepare for the time when the overflow of human garbage begins to leave their ruined cities and infest the countryside of America known as Flyover Country. It is then that they will receive their well-earned punishment because we value our environment far more than the loony left does and we will do the job that current law enforcement is not allowed to do.

Bull's eye to VDH. Right on target. Bull's eye to #4. It's more than a few sowing the whirlwind. I daresay it is all of us. A government that spends trillions, and what does it produce. Corporations that make trillions. What did they produce? Was it worth what they received? People making six and seven digit salaries. What did they produce to earn that? Especially if they worked for an employer that really did not produce much. All the people on the public dole that have produced nothing at all. See a trend here? Any surprise we are in debt up to our eyeballs and being eaten alive by inflation? Seriously, does our system work? It sure doesn't look like it. VDH mentions premodern and postmodern barbarism. Again, is it any surprise seeing what we came from? We have to be taught to be civilized, and that education is seriously lacking. Both at school and at home. I recall the biblical fall of man after he was cast out of Eden. Is this what that fall looks like? It's worldwide, by the way. If one could ask God what his plans and expectations were for us before the fall, what would he say. Have we strayed off course? Would he say we have grown into something that far exceeded whatever he had planned for us?

Overnight, she became a heroine. She launched her own COVID-19 dashboard, raised half a million dollars, and gathered a Twitter army of 378,000.

Power outages, fires, water shortages, rising taxes, crumbling and congested highways, dismal schools, lawlessness... It is now August in California. So we can expect the following from our postmodern state government. There are the now-normal raging wildfires in the coastal and Sierra foothills. And they will be greeted as if they are not characteristic threats of 500 years of settled history, but leveraged as proof of global warming as well as the state’s abject inability to put them out. When the inept state can’t extinguish them as it has in the past, it suggests that it’s more “natural” to let them burn.

Court staff? People who were in touch with the Justices or law clerks? These leaks were troubling. Confidential deliberations should remain confidential–especially when press reports paint some members of the Court in an unfavorable light. These disclosures corrode collegiality. Indeed, there have been new rounds of rumors about leaks in the Title VII SOGI cases.
