Arriving at TPC Scottsdale a season ago winless on the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler became a household name with a memorable playoff victory in the desert. Fast forward to the 2023 WM Phoenix Open, and the Masters champion once again needed a performance to put his name rightfully in the spotlight. Amongst the chatter of Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm becoming golf's 1-2 punch, it was Scheffler who finished on top and reclaimed a No. 1 ranking in the world. A second university has been found to have received more than $6.7 million in anonymous donations from China, including direct funding from the Chinese government, after Joe Biden set up a program there in his name, according to a Government Accountability Institute analysis. Transgender athletes will not be allowed to compete in college sports in the Lone Star State, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has vowed.
“This next session, we will pass a law prohibiting biological men to compete against women in college sports,” the governor said during a meeting of young conservatives in Dallas.
Under his leadership, the state imposed a similar ban in 2021 on transgender competitors in public schools from kindergarten through high school.
Texas lawmakers are now turning their attention to universities, with two lawmakers filing a bill to ban trans women from competing against biological women in college sports.
