Washington - U.S. Justice Department has asked a federal judge to hold former Donald Trump's office in contempt of court for failing to fully comply with a subpoena to return all classified documents in the former president's possession, the Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell has not yet held a hearing or ruled on the request, the newspaper reported.
One of the key areas of disagreement centers on the Trump legal team's repeated refusal to designate a custodian of records to sign a document attesting that all classified materials have been returned to the federal government, the report added.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) predicted on Thursday that leftist President Joe Biden’s decision to trade imprisoned basketball player Brittney Griner for notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, known as the “merchant of death,” would result in people dying as rogue states interpreted the move as open season to arrest Americans.
Cotton’s remarks came in an appearance on the SiriusXM Patriot program Breitbart News Daily hosted by Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. Biden announced and the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday that Griner and Bout were both free.
“As a result of the efforts made, we managed to agree with the American side to arrange an exchange of Viktor Bout

Celine Dion has revealed she has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder with features of an autoimmune disease.
The French Canadian singer told her 5.2m Instagram followers the condition makes her muscles spasm uncontrollably.
It has also left her with difficulties walking and singing, she said, meaning she will be unable to play planned shows in the UK and Europe next year.
"I've been dealing with problems with my health for a long time," said Dion. "And it's been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I've been going through," the 54-year-old continued in an emotionally-charged video.

The investment company known as BlackRock has an agenda that is far from beneficial as it adheres to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment standards which don’t focus on profitability and good business practices but adherence to left-leaning ideologies. Sticking to ESG practices, BlackRock has endangered the livelihoods of Texans and pension plans by boycotting industries that left-leaning people typically resist like oil and coal, throwing investment capital instead at companies with “green initiatives.” As RedState previously covered back in June, BlackRock controls more assets than any other investment management firm on Wall Street with around $10 trillion under management. Woke corporations have taken up Democratic talking points on culture war issues, but they still expect Republicans to protect them from Democrats seeking to regulate them. Republicans should follow the lead of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR).
With Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen facing questions from senators over the company’s merger with Albertsons, Cotton took the opportunity to grill him over the company’s woke turn. That includes Kroger firing two employees who refused to wear an apron to support the gay and transgender community, as well as the company issuing a guide to employees instructing them not to use the terms “sir” or “ma’am.”

After months of negotiation, the Biden administration on Thursday freed convicted notorious arms trafficker Viktor Bout in exchange for U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia on drug charges.
Bout had been serving a 25-year prison sentence in the U.S. In April 2012, he was found guilty of conspiring to kill Americans and U.S. officials, acquiring and exporting anti-aircraft missiles, and aiding a terrorist organization.
For his illegal weapons exploits, the notorious criminal earned the moniker “Merchant of Death,” inspiring the Hollywood film Lord of War, starring Nic Cage.

It has been a very bad few weeks for former President Donald Trump. His candidates in key swing states lost for the most part, and those who didn’t still ended up with far fewer Republican votes than non-Trump candidates. He announced the start of his 2024 presidential campaign and has done nothing significant since then. Then, this week, his family business was found guilty of criminal tax fraud and the January 6 Committee has made it clear criminal referrals are coming.
The failure of the campaign to meaningfully launch has been noted.
Donald Trump launched his candidacy three weeks ago, but you’d barely know it from watching his campaign.

How It Started: In October, my colleague Mike LaChance noted Wall Street’s enthusiasm for ESG (environmental, social, and governance) investing was already starting to wane.
How It’s Going: One of the “Big Three” index fund managers is now quitting an ESG-oriented group.

Dozens of employees of the Washington Commanders were harmed for more than two decades because of a “toxic work culture” in which sexual harassment and bullying were pervasive, according to a scathing report released Thursday by the House Oversight Committee.
The title of the report is “Conduct Detrimental: How the NFL and the Washington Commanders Covered Up Decades of Sexual Misconduct.” “The results of the Committee’s investigation, as laid out in this report, are clear: sexual harassment, bullying, and other toxic conduct pervaded the workplace at the Washington Commanders and were perpetuated by a culture of fear instilled by the Team’s owner” Daniel Snyder, the report said.

The House of Representatives passed legislation with bipartisan support on Thursday that would codify same-sex marriage protections.
Lawmakers voted to enact the bill 258 to 169, with 39 Republicans breaking with their party to join 219 Democrats on the motion. Last month, the bill cleared the Senate, with moderate Republicans Senators Susan Collins, Rob Portman, and Thom Tillis reaching across the aisle to provide the necessary GOP votes. The measure now goes to President Biden’s desk for final approval.

It’s been somewhat amusing to watch the majority of the mainstream media trying to spin the midterm election results. Some consistent themes we’ve seen on CNN and MSNBC, as well as in the pages of the Washington Post, have been that Americans “rejected” the Republican agenda and – far more importantly – the Bad Orange Man. One might interpret such a view as meaning that voters embraced the Democrats and were satisfied with how they are handling things. But as the latest poll published by the Associated Press clearly shows us, that isn’t the case at all. Joe Biden’s approval rating is still in the toilet,

American basketball star Brittney Griner was released from Russian custody Thursday in a prisoner exchange after being detained for months for allegedly bringing illegal substances into the country.
Griner was freed in a one-for-one prisoner swap for international arms dealer Viktor Bout. Last week, President Biden signed off on the deal, which was finalized in the United Arab Emirates Thursday.
“Moments ago I spoke to Brittney Griner. She is safe. She is on a plane. She is on her way home,” Biden tweeted.
