New York's new "hate speech" law must
be rejected

Original Article

A new law went into effect in New York State on Saturday and it has free speech advocates up in arms for good reason. The law seeks to squelch any vaguely-defined instances of “hate speech” online. But this one goes much further than previous proposals to silence people on the major social media platforms. It applies to blogs and any other websites that allow readers to leave comments… such as the one you are reading right now. The law requires the operators of such sites to post a content moderation policy, and remove comments that may offend or “incite violence against” a list of favored demographic groups.

NY VOTERS elected the clown-governor who is a joke. Voters rule even if they prove themselves to be utter fools. NY is a prime example, and is an outbound state for a good reason.

The Article includes, "As noted above, the new law would require the site’s owners to provide a method of submitting complaints about any offensive comments they see and mandate that the owners respond to those complaints directly." Much non-defamatory opinion is offensive. Applying this statute, YouTubers are going to be very busy responding to complaints posted in their Comments sections, especially is this law applies to replies to other comments and replies. There is much to complain about on YouTube, even when limited to the specified protected groups. I have not read the statute. Does it allow the owner to delete comments that are complained of in lieu of responding? If it does, most owners may simply delete such "offending" comments, but this option would generate complaints for the sole purpose of having the owner delete comments that offend the complainer. ig

The mania of Bein g offended and needing to be coddled is vomitous. Somebody says something hateful? Block it. Bid loud mouths end up with their foot placed firmly between their teeth. Give a fool enough rope and they’ll hang themselves. I find it hateful to hear all the pornographic, trans loving rhetoric and believe it should be banned. Crickets.

Too many people misunderstand the 1st Amendment. It has nothing to do with private companies limiting speech (such as banning their employees from saying certain things while representing that company). What it clearly states is that no branch of the government can limit free speech. How exactly is this "law" not the perfect example of the government of NY banning free speech?!?!?!? Any judge who actually understands the Constitution (which sadly leaves out all Demon-Rat judges) should strike this down immediately!!!!!!

Washington - U.S. Justice Department has asked a federal judge to hold former Donald Trump's office in contempt of court for failing to fully comply with a subpoena to return all classified documents in the former president's possession, the Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell has not yet held a hearing or ruled on the request, the newspaper reported. One of the key areas of disagreement centers on the Trump legal team's repeated refusal to designate a custodian of records to sign a document attesting that all classified materials have been returned to the federal government, the report added.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) predicted on Thursday that leftist President Joe Biden’s decision to trade imprisoned basketball player Brittney Griner for notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, known as the “merchant of death,” would result in people dying as rogue states interpreted the move as open season to arrest Americans. Cotton’s remarks came in an appearance on the SiriusXM Patriot program Breitbart News Daily hosted by Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. Biden announced and the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday that Griner and Bout were both free. “As a result of the efforts made, we managed to agree with the American side to arrange an exchange of Viktor Bout

The investment company known as BlackRock has an agenda that is far from beneficial as it adheres to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment standards which don’t focus on profitability and good business practices but adherence to left-leaning ideologies. Sticking to ESG practices, BlackRock has endangered the livelihoods of Texans and pension plans by boycotting industries that left-leaning people typically resist like oil and coal, throwing investment capital instead at companies with “green initiatives.” As RedState previously covered back in June, BlackRock controls more assets than any other investment management firm on Wall Street with around $10 trillion under management. Woke corporations have taken up Democratic talking points on culture war issues, but they still expect Republicans to protect them from Democrats seeking to regulate them. Republicans should follow the lead of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR). With Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen facing questions from senators over the company’s merger with Albertsons, Cotton took the opportunity to grill him over the company’s woke turn. That includes Kroger firing two employees who refused to wear an apron to support the gay and transgender community, as well as the company issuing a guide to employees instructing them not to use the terms “sir” or “ma’am.”

After months of negotiation, the Biden administration on Thursday freed convicted notorious arms trafficker Viktor Bout in exchange for U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia on drug charges. Bout had been serving a 25-year prison sentence in the U.S. In April 2012, he was found guilty of conspiring to kill Americans and U.S. officials, acquiring and exporting anti-aircraft missiles, and aiding a terrorist organization. For his illegal weapons exploits, the notorious criminal earned the moniker “Merchant of Death,” inspiring the Hollywood film Lord of War, starring Nic Cage.

It has been a very bad few weeks for former President Donald Trump. His candidates in key swing states lost for the most part, and those who didn’t still ended up with far fewer Republican votes than non-Trump candidates. He announced the start of his 2024 presidential campaign and has done nothing significant since then. Then, this week, his family business was found guilty of criminal tax fraud and the January 6 Committee has made it clear criminal referrals are coming. The failure of the campaign to meaningfully launch has been noted. Donald Trump launched his candidacy three weeks ago, but you’d barely know it from watching his campaign.

It’s been somewhat amusing to watch the majority of the mainstream media trying to spin the midterm election results. Some consistent themes we’ve seen on CNN and MSNBC, as well as in the pages of the Washington Post, have been that Americans “rejected” the Republican agenda and – far more importantly – the Bad Orange Man. One might interpret such a view as meaning that voters embraced the Democrats and were satisfied with how they are handling things. But as the latest poll published by the Associated Press clearly shows us, that isn’t the case at all. Joe Biden’s approval rating is still in the toilet,

Just how historically anomalous was Herschel Walker's 2-point loss to incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) in the runoff on Tuesday? Consider these facts in light of the reality that President Joe Biden expanded Democratic control of the upper congressional chamber to a 51-49 majority. Since World War II, the president's party has gained Senate seats in only four of those 19 midterm elections. For the first time since the 17th Amendment, which transferred the voting power of senators directly to the people, all incumbent senators in the president's party running for reelection won.

The Climate Cult worships two green idols: electric vehicles and wind-solar energy. This is part of a futile U.N. scheme promoting "Net Zero Emissions," which aims to cool the climate of the world by waging war on CO2 plant food. Green worship is the state religion of all Western nations. It is promoted by billionaires with other agendas and endlessly repeated by the U.N., the bureaucracy, all government media, state education, and most big business leaders. The promotion of electric cars and trucks will cause a great increase in the demand for electricity to replace diesel, petrol, and gas.

The House Committee on Ethics said Wednesday it is investigating Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.). The panel released a statement saying the Office of Congressional Ethics forwarded its inquiry into the progressive congresswoman to the panel in June, which typically suggests the office believes an ethics law was violated. It was not immediately clear what the investigation was about. “The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee,” the panel said.
