An East Village park near prestigious Cooper Union and across from luxury condos has become a trash-strewn, vermin-filled, homeless hangout, residents said.
“It’s disgusting!” Candy Schulman, 69, a 28-year neighborhood resident, told The Post of Cooper Triangle on Third Avenue.
“I feel outraged about the garbage and the rats. Every bench is taken up by the homeless and nobody is doing anything about it.”
Stuyvesant Town dweller John Murtha, 70, who walks his dog near the park, was equally angry.

But...but...the last Mayor and the present Mayor only have good things to say about the state of NYC! These few malcontents must be ignored! I mean, as long as you live in Gracie Mansion, protected by tall walls and armed security, chauffeured everywhere you go, and protected by a morally absent presscorps who act as you propaganda arm, every day is a bright sunny day! To hell with these plebian ingrates-they're lucky to have a park that the homeless and rats can infest in the first place! /sarcasm off

These people are mentally, physically and spiritually broken.....I don’t have a clue how you go about fixing someone who has given up and dropped out.

#2, First of all you don’t make it easy for them. You do not condone their behavior at the expense of the rest of the population.
Addlepated by drugs and mental illness is a serious condition that must be addressed. The vast majority of these people are not going to voluntarily change. Change must be forced upon them and if they will not change, they must be separated from the rest of society. They are committing slow suicide right on the streets of the biggest cities in the country. We have ignored this problem and now it is a full blown crisis. This is what happens when you abandon law and order as democrats have done. Even the small crime of vagrancy can, if ignored, spiral into a massive problem. Ignore small crime and it will exponentially multiply. It’s time to do the hard work of bringing back law and order.
We all deserve to live our lives free of filth, vagrancy, drug use, and squalor. You will never achieve that with democrats in charge. They have made a mockery of our laws to the great detriment of the lawful among us. Nothing will change and will likely worsen with democrats in charge. Never ever vote for a democrat for anything, even dog catcher. If you do you will be voting for your own destruction.

New Yorkers deserve the government they have. When Republicans ran the city is was clean and relatively safe. Now after De Blasio and Adams running it, it is a crime ridden cesspool. They need to recall the Mayor and elect someone who will fix things.

Vote for the Evil Left and this is what you get. They owe you nothing; your voting patterns are taken for granted. Why is it the Useful Idiots are perfectly comfortable with killing innocent pre-borns...but are horrified at the prospect of institutionalizing these broken losers? I guess they identify with the latter group.

The Democrat plan for all big American cities is for them to resemble Sao Paulo or even Calcutta, As Rush would say, '...trust me on this, folks,' Yet, residents keep voting Democrat wanting more of the same, i.e. homelessness, filth, criminality and violence ignored by the taxpayees in city hall.

I'm having a really hard time mustering any sympathy for the limousine liberals of NY Ciyt. They look down their noses at Rudy G and vote for di Blasio and Eric Adam's. What did they expect?

While commentators here blame NYers for voting democrat, keep in mind the idiot NYS republicans ran the true MORON Curtis Sliwa the unelectable. (I knew Curtis 40 years ago and he was a moron then with his Leo Gorcey act.

So why are you people still living in New York? Your home is worthless, your safety is in jeopardy, you are surrounded by jungle creatures. Move! If New York does not have your tax money to waste on animalistic parasites they will eventually die out or kill each other but that could take a while.

Now, now guys, simmer down. the new mayor is with his tailor and is picking new pimp suits to be made. Important things first, unimportant stuff, well, it can wait. The list is so long the mayor has to hire another jackass like himself just to read it. Actually, does he know how to read? Other than off a prompter that is!?
