Texas Democrat launches a racist attack

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Tex.) recently came under fire after a hired political operative, Texas political blogger Jerry McHale, launched a series of bigoted attacks on his opponent Mayra Flores (R-Tex.). In numerous posts, McHale referred to Flores as “Miss Frijoles” and “Miss Enchiladas.” McHale also questioned Flores’s account that she worked in cotton fields with her Mexican immigrant parents as a child, attacking her as a “cotton pickin’ liar.” NBC News reported that Gonzalez’s campaign gave the McHale Report $1,200 in June for “advertising services,” according to the Federal Election Commission, as well as $1,000 in October last year.

The caring left sure can let loose with the racial tones that make the KKK look like mild playground schoolboys. What's all the hatred for? Maybe McHale can't debate this is a tactic of the left name calling.

My husband has a story about his maternal grandfather. Grandpa had a job as a school janitor and was told he’d be fired for voting R. Grandpa (I’m too lazy to look up the Spanish word) loved Reagan and the amnesty bill and voted R and was promptly fired. I did ask how they knew how his votes were cast and my only conclusion is he told them to pound sand and he voted R. This is Rio Grande Valley. Rats have been liars and cheats for a very very long time.

Scratch a democrat and you will find a racist. What has gotten into the democrat party? I can remember when democrats were sane and actually able to debate an issue. Now they are completely unhinged. I don’t even recognize half of the country anymore. Anyone who identifies as a democrat I steer clear of because they are incapable of rational thought and they are always in attack mode. They are really just nasty vulgar people who hate me and the country I love. We have nothing in common.

Which got me to thinking, what is an "Hispanic", anyway? Most of the stuff Google returned reads like defining features for your sign in the Zodiac. (From Google's first return: "Hispanic Americans are open-minded and adventurous. Their lived experience adapting to cultures and their optimistic attitude culminate in a desire to insert themselves into the mainstream. They want to both understand and contribute to the current moment.") However, this seems more concrete: "Characterization of the Hispanic or Latino Population in Health Research: A Systematic Review" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4518558/ Warning this is a scholarly paper, primarily involved in how the definition of "Hispanic" affects health care. However, here are a couple of quotes: "Many Hispanics or Latinos in the United States tend to self identify more often with their country of origin or with their ancestors' country of origin, and provide that information as their ethnicity. " "The Hispanic population in the US is far from monolithic. Collectively, those who identify themselves as Hispanic or Latino have immigrated or have ancestry from more than 20 countries and territories, speak more than six different languages, and fall all along the socioeconomic spectrum." Of course, if you tried to define "White", that would be even more confusing than this.

I'm currently a constituent of Rep Gonzalez in TX-15. He nearly lost to Monica Delacruz in 2022 (who will win TX-15 as a Republican). Gonzalez realized he'd probably lose to her in '22, so when the incumbent retired, he moved to the neighboring TX-34 where he had a better chance to win. Problem is, the retired guy couldn't wait a few months to cash out as a lobbyist so it opened the door to Rep. Flores to win the seat in a special election. Now Gonzalez realizes it's not a slam dunk, so it's time to bring out his henchmen.

Welcome to politics, Texas style. Anything goes, and no holds are barred. Given how clumsy and racist this blog was, it will benefit Ms Flores in her largely American-Mexican district. Gonzalez might demand a refund from McHale.
