A former U.S. Marine was killed while fighting alongside Ukrainian forces after the private security firm he worked for sent him to war. The family of Willy Joseph Cancel, 22, of Orange County New York, confirmed that the husband and father of a seven-month-old son had died in the Ukraine fighting Russian forces on Monday, CNN reported. He is survived by his wife Brittany, who he married in July 2019, as well as the couple's seven month-old son Anthony. Cancel's mother, Rebecca Cabrera, said her son was working for a private military contracting company when he agreed to take up a job to fight in the Ukraine

"a private military contracting company" - Blackwater/Xe/Academi? Now, if he had been fighting on the Russian side, he'd have been described as what he really was - a mercenary.

Should I be feeling sorry for him or for his wife and a seven-month-old son? He left his wife and a toddler behind to fight for ....what? For a government with a history of corruption and ultimately took a bullet for a comedian president, who was very unpopular before the Russian invasion. Choice has consequences. He chose work(money) over family. Hope his family will be well compensated for his death by the company and the Ukrainian government.

Don't expect a full military honors funeral for fighting and dying as a mercenary. He gave up "Old Glory" for that yellow/blue flag. Had only his loyalty been to his wife and child. Coming home every night from a job as a 'Mall Cop' is better than dying as a merc in some hellish landscape.

I can't get moved by something as stupid as dying in a useless senseless war. I feel for the surviving family. The former Marine made a bad choice of a job and its requirements to defend a corrupt nation from some brutal Soviet bullies. Noble and stupid is no way to end your life.

He did it because he was paid an enormous amount of money to do the job. I worked with a woman whose husband was a Marine, and upon retirement, he was offered a huge amount of money to work for a government security firm, and I think he took the job. The amount of money offered by these government security firms is very enticing.

On Saturday morning, The New York Times engaged in quite the hackery against Fox News' Tucker Carlson with "American Nationalist." It's not just a hit piece, but an entire series, written by Nicholas Confessore, who is also a commentator for MSNBC. That Confessore is so involved with a direct competitor of Fox News is not mentioned until more than halfway through the first part of the series, which by itself is over 8,000 words. A source close to the matter confirmed for Townhall that Confessore had been working on the piece for a year. Here's how it was referenced, close to 50 paragraphs into the story:

WASHINGTON — Citing growing worries about high gasoline prices, Democratic leaders announced an effort Thursday to give the Federal Trade Commission increased authority to crack down on companies that engage in price gouging. In doing so, they downplayed the possibility of other options such as a federal gas tax holiday or offering oil companies more government incentives to increase production. Instead, they said the FTC needs more tools, including stiffer fines and penalties and a team of dedicated experts to monitor markets and go after price gouging. With voters concerned about the growing toll of inflation, Democrats again signaled their intention

When Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently unveiled his “six pillar plan” for dealing with the crisis on our southern border, he certainly didn’t mention this truly awful idea. During his recent testimony before Congress, Mayorkas slipped in one option that Joe Biden is reportedly considering. In order to provide better care for the tens of thousands of illegal aliens streaming across the border, the White House is looking at the possibility of diverting funding from the Veterans Administration for that situation. Additionally, some of the doctors and nurses tasked with caring for our veterans could be reassigned to providing care for the illegals.
