CHICAGO, IL– Mayor Lori Lightfoot is considering a momentous change to a Chicago police procedure, stating she wants a revised policy in place before summer. [Tweet] According to reports, the change in policy will require an officer to get a supervisor’s permission before beginning a foot chase. The issue gained new urgency after an officer reportedly chased and fatally shot 13-year-old Adam Toledo. Lightfoot said:
“No one should die as a result of a foot chase.”
Since the fatal shooting, rewriting police policy on all foot chases has no become a hot topic

Unless you are weeks away from retirement, why would any cop in his/her right mind stay employed in one of these hell-hole Demon-Rat controlled cities?!?!?!?!?
Seriously, I need to understand the lie-beral "logic" that makes things like this sound like "good ideas"!!!

Right, give the suspect a 5 minute head start.
Then she can claim Arrests are down almost 100%.

Which guarantees that MOST criminals will be gone. Clearly, since most violent crimes are committed by blacks, this is the "don't catch those black criminals" move.
More crimes, more deaths, and mostly of blacks will be the guaranteed result.

Great idea. Commit a crime, including murder, then run. No chase, no arrest. Why would any Chicago cops sign up for that? Why would there be any left?

Go hang out at the donut shop. When your employer doesn't want you to work, dont. Let the vermin kill each other. Nobody will protest that.

If I were a cop in Chicago, I'd welcome this. It might save my life or keep me from being hauled into court, then jail, like Chauvin. And if the perps escape, that becomes Lightfoot's problem, not mine. Let the voters decide whether to keep her.

I can hear it now. Suspect with a gun is running away and cop waits for permission. In the mean time, the suspect shoots a few people while the cop is waiting for permission. By the time he gets a response, he follows the trail of bodies to where the suspect carjacked and shot someone else and got away. The community will then riot because the police did not do anything to stop the suspect. The Police officer who requested to chase the suspect will then be fired for dereliction of duty, there will be riots because the police are ignoring the needs of the community and people died and minorities (blacks) are being killed by police apathy. The office will be charges with some sort of accessory to manslaughter for not stopping the suspect. Mayor Lightfoot will give a speech condemning police inaction and the cycle of blaming the police for the criminals actions will continue and the feral BLM / ANTIFA members will continue to protest, riot, and burn their own communities.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon has announced that among the crimes he will not prosecute is resisting arrest, unless the officer is physically injured, trespassing, disturbing the peace, driving with no license or a suspended license, making criminal threats, drug possession, drinking in public, loitering to commit prostitution among others. He also will not seek legislatively mandated sentencing enhancements for "third-strike" felony convictions, gang violence, and use of a gun in committing a robbery, residential burglary, rape, etc.

Calling a supervisor would give thugs, at the least, a 30 second head start in the footrace. The mile run is usually won by tenths of a second. Besides, this is Chicago when every cop starts his beat with a belly full of donuts so what they really need is a head start.

Mayor Lightheaded is as stupid as she? is ugly. Some perps can run pretty fast especially if they’re hopped on drugs like crack and meth. By the time cops ask for permission the suspect could be several blocks away.
