The Biden administration will consider forcing cigarette makers to reduce the nicotine in their cigarettes to levels that aren't addicting—at the same time more than half of U.S. states have legalized marijuana in some form. The administration already was considering banning menthol flavoring in cigarettes, but while they've been chewing over that rule, they've discussed going even further with the possible nicotine limits, according to the Wall Street Journal.(Snip) 'Marijuana smokers tend to inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than cigarette smokers, which leads to a greater exposure per breath to tar,' the Lung Association says.

I wonder if the settlement deal between the cigarette manufacturers and the various levels of government which sued years ago might prevent their being forced to make cigarettes 'non-addictive' because there isn't a reason to smoke otherwise.

Biden snope of left wing lawyer extremists have all kinds of plans for our lives, being unable to run their own, so have to have a government sinecure.

Some Ldotter bro called me “libtard”over this. But I maintain if the CDC wanted to solve a major health crises, they would do their best to outlaw tobacco. 400,000 plus die each year of smoking related illness. Not to mention the pain and suffering it results in. A little pot after a hard days work, not so sure how much damage that would inflict. Probably less than too much Jim Bean. P. S. I don’t smoke pot. Well, at least in the last 45 years.

It takes little brains to realize that legal marijuana will not only lead to lower IQs, traffic deaths, and greater addiction rates, but also lung, brain, and circulatory disease rates the same or worse than tobacco.

Has anyone noticed that the 400,000 deaths per year from smoking cigarettes noted by #3 hasn't changed in several decades despite smoking rates taking a pretty hefty dip? As there are 11 million illegal aliens in the country for the past few decades so the deaths from smoking have remained the same despite changing circumstances. Both numbers come from the left and are used by the left. Reducing nicotine in cigarettes will cause people to smoke more cigarettes, period. I've been smoking for 53 years, am in good health and have no intention of quitting, CDC or otherwise.

Many years ago, my dad quipped that it was okay to smoke a little weed, but he feared it could lead to cigarette addiction.

I'm not a fan of smoking but when over 50% of adults smoked the average adult weighed about 50 pounds less than today. Lots of people traded in their cigarettes for cookies, candy, pies, cake, ice cream. candy bars, potato chips, and taco chips.

#3 My in-laws raised tobacco. None of them got cancer from the nicotine tar. Perhaps it's the filters.

The exception proves the rule. For every "smoking hasn't hurt me a bit" testimony, there are 100 people with ruined lungs and health. C'mon man.

Studies find that lowering nicotine makes people smoke more cigarettes and inhale more deeply so as to get the desired nicotine dosage, and in the process they inhale an outlandish array of harmful additives ("flavoring agents" like ammonia, for one, which just happens to boost nicotine activity in the brain).
