This is huge and, with the horrible bureaucracy and disregard for landmarks in California, a near miracle. Most every memorable movie boasts a thrilling plot twist or an outsized occurrence that prompts an audible ripple of gasps from audience members. Such a made-for-the-movies moment arrived for the Cinerama Dome, that unmistakable, much-obsessed-over, long-shuttered Hollywood cinema, on July 22.

My wife, daughter, and I traveled east last week to go to a wedding. Before we headed back home, we went to visit my aunt. (snip) The conversation at one point turned very serious. New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill is blaming a software glitch in the state's motor vehicle system for accidentally registering 6,660 noncitizens to vote.
She further acknowledged Tuesday about 400 of those foreigners voted in recent election despite a legal ban on foreigners voting in federal elections.

A federal appeals court is affirming a five-year prison sentence for Charles Littlejohn, a consultant to the IRS who leaked President Trump’s tax return information to the New York Times and tax information about thousands of the richest Americans including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Warren Buffett to ProPublica.

I first went to the Cinerama Dome when I was ten years old. It was for the opening of "How the West was Won". It was a special day for only Girl Scouts and arranged by Debbie Reynolds. After the movie, Miss Reynolds came out on stage wearing her G.S. leader's uniform. She talked about making the movie and took questions from the audience. She had been a Scout since her childhood, with her mother as the troop leader. Miss Reynolds was a big supporter of our local Council in the San Fernando Valley which encompassed her old home in Burbank. Both Miss Reynolds and her mother worked with my mother soliciting funds from local businesses and corporations. She was very effective! My mother had a close friendship with both her and her mother. Two classy ladies!
