The left is making a hero and a martyr of Alex Pretti, which makes perfect sense if you ignore nearly all the facts. Here is what we know so far:
* Pretti was no innocent bystander or peaceful protester. He was a member of the signal “ICE watch group” that was formed to interfere with federal law enforcement. Matt Margolis has much more about the well-organized, and no doubt well-financed, criminal group of which Pretti was a member.
* Pretti came to an area where federal officers were carrying out an enforcement action with the intent of trying to disrupt them. He brought with him a luxury version

It’s counterintuitive, and the opposite would be far worse. But we’re still duty-bound to prepare for the electoral fallout.
Because, in all probability, it’s coming with a vengeance in 2026.
I don’t want to sound unappreciative, because I’m delighted with the results. Ask yourself: Would you rather solve illegal immigration, halt border crossings, stop violent crime, and deal with the political consequences — or live in a country with nonexistent borders and a runaway crime rate?
When we consider the alternative, what choice did we have?

The US Air Force said Sunday it was about to begin a multi-day readiness exercise across the Middle East “to demonstrate the ability to deploy, disperse, and sustain combat airpower” in the region, amid heightened tensions with Iran.
“This exercise reinforces peace through strength by fielding a credible, combat-ready, and responsible presence designed to deter aggression, reduce the risk of miscalculation and assure partners,” a statement released by US Air Forces Central (AFCENT) said.

Under the leadership of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan "Razin'" Caine, the United States is once again blazing new paths in its efforts to unite Western Hemisphere countries in combatting the drug trafficking in the region.
As the U.S. military continues its campaign targeting alleged drug cartel boats, Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is convening a rare meeting of all of the top military leaders from the 34 countries in the Western Hemisphere.
This will be the first time that such a meeting has been convened and appears

Well, not all of Minneapolis. But a portion of South Minneapolis. The miscreants are a combination of Antifa thugs and woolly-headed Minnesota liberals, all playing at being Communist revolutionaries. To the barricades! And they have, indeed, erected barricades of a sort.
Videojournalist Rebecca Brannon is on the scene: More here.
Police apparently have withdrawn from the area, turning that portion of the city over to the insurrectionists. As far as I have seen, neither Tim Walz, nor Jacob Frey, nor any other member of the Democratic Party has criticized, let alone condemned, this lawlessness.

It seems long past time for President Donald Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act. In the chaos and violence following the death of an armed Minneapolis would-be terrorist shot while fighting Border Patrol, another protester has bitten off the finger of a federal officer.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin posted photos on X showing the loathsome protestors who so viciously assaulted federal officers, and also photos of the one officer’s wounded hand and the severed finger. What absolute scum these protestors and the politicians who encourage them are.

A statement from the Department of Homeland Security says the armed man who was shot and killed in Minneapolis “wanted to…massacre law enforcement.”
The DHS said the armed man “approached US Border Patrol Officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.”
The statement continued:
The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but [he] was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect also had 2 magazines and no ID

China's defence ministry says it has opened an investigation into the country's highest-ranking general over "grave violations of discipline and the law".
The ministry gave no further details about accusations against General Zhang Youxia, who has widely been seen as President Xi Jinping's closest military ally. However in China the accusation of wrongdoing is usually a euphemism for corruption.
In its announcement, the ministry said another senior military officer, General Liu Zhenli, was also under investigation.
Their removal follows the expulsion of nine top generals in October

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Saturday called on President Donald Trump to end sweeping Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the state after what officials and witnesses described as a second fatal shooting this month by federal agents in Minneapolis.
"I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning," Walz wrote in a post on X. "Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now."

A federal agent shot and killed a man who was brandishing a gun while officers in Minneapolis were attempting to arrest an illegal criminal Saturday morning, the Department of Homeland Security said.
The incident, which was captured on video, drew an immediate crowd of rowdy protesters, prompting law enforcement to fire multiple rounds of tear gas in an effort to disperse them.
Rioters were seen hurling trash cans at an armored vehicle and chanting at armed federal officers in the aftermath of the incident.

With one full week to go before current funding expires on several federal agencies, the House has passed the last of its FY2026 budget appropriations. Now the two consolidated bills come to the Senate, and Chuck Schumer has some choices to make. Will he lead Senate Democrats into another shutdown ... or stand down and let the moment pass quietly?
House Democrats made the latter more likely yesterday. Enough of them crossed the aisle to pass the bill containing the appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security, while the other consolidated bill sailed to passage:
The House passed funding

TikTok said Thursday that it formed a joint venture that will keep the video-sharing app operating in the United States.
The short-form video company said that Adam Presser will be the CEO of TikTok USDS Joint Venture, while TikTok CEO Shou Chew will be a director. Presser was previously TikTok’s head of operations and trust and safety.
The U.S.-based joint venture will operate as an “independent entity,” TikTok said in its announcement. TikTok USDS Joint Venture “will operate under defined safeguards that protect national security through comprehensive data protections, algorithm security, content moderation, and software assurances for U.S. users,” the company said.
The joint venture will be governed
