California’s ‘Get Out Now’ Tax

It might seem that public policy insanity has reached an end in California. After all, what more could the state’s malevolent progressive politics concoct to make it more hostile to business, innovation, enterprise, and hard work than it already is? How about a tax on those who drive the economy? Yes, that should do it. The Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West and St. John’s Community Health in Los Angeles have teamed up to concoct the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, a citizen-initiated statute that might appear on the ballot next November. Should it pass, it would levy a “one-time 5% tax on California billionaires in this emergency

I guess the SEIU finally realized no one was coming to their namesake bowl game. This union represents municipal workers and if no one is left to pay taxes do they think the high salaried union leadership will be willing to foot the bill? These people are planning the unemployment of their own membership - and the need for welfare.

Temporary taxes in California are like the 'Transitory Inflation' we all suffered under the Sleepy Joe administration. The transitory inflation is being reversed by a new administration using common sense. Common sense is in short supply in the fever dreams of rabid leftists. Particularly in California.

California is among the worst, but they are by no means the Lone Ranger. The absolute arrogance of these crooked politicians thinking they are entitled to free men's money simply because they want it is beyond unreasonable. Elections dont work. The courts dont work. Other options are running low.

Any California "emergency" is self-created. How about flooding your state with illegals who you prop up with goods and services, the only compensation being their votes that keep you in power to perpetuate your merry-go-round in hell. WWRRD - what would Rob Reiner do?

If the U.S. income tax still covered only the extraordinarily wealthy Americans it was originally intended to cover only Americans making more than $33 million (the current value of $1million in 1913 dollars) a year would be paying it today. Similarly, the principle of taxing assets in addition to income, once enacted, will not be restricted to the "super rich" for long. Good luck saving for retirement if you have to fork over a portion of your appreciated assets each year.

These billionaires should start funding campaigns of Republicans and Independents to remove the Democrats 20-year super-majority rule in DEEP BLUE California. It would have much more impact than leaving. They are correct, it's never a one-time tax either, they get used to the new $$$ and want more because they've already spent the proposed revenues that aren't even in yet and not on healthcare either. It usually goes to pay higher salaries, benefits and pensions (e.g. the SEIU is a union after all). California voters are usually pretty stupid about this stuff and generally vote them in as though it has no impact despite always having a huge impact. Believe CA voters approved a 6 cent increase in their gas taxes to help pave and fix the decaying roads. The roads are still decaying and much of the funds went to bicycle lanes and other such "transportation" projects.

You've seen how Californians vote. For higher taxes on themselves. To keep Slick in office even after a recall election. For higher gasoline prices (bye bye, refineries). To fund the illegal immigration of rapists, mental cases, murderers and con artists. For ten dollar a gallon gas. For $16,000 annual property taxes. So guess what? They're coming to a neighborhood near you.

#9 is correct, wealth used to be measured chiefly in land and its resources, now it's just a number in a bank, which can be easily moved to another bank. These billionaires have until November to pack up and get out of Dodge. You know the bill will pass because there are way more Gimmedats than billionaires. California reeks of desperation right now.

Nick Shirley’s 42-minute YouTube video on daycare fraud in Minnesota is shocking not just because of the scale of abuse he uncovered in a day. It’s shocking because it took a young kid to expose this years-long scheme. Where was the mainstream media all this time? In the must-see video, Shirley teams up with a citizen investigator and goes door-to-door visiting various “daycare” facilities in Minneapolis that got millions in taxpayer money through a Child Care Assistance Program. The first two “daycare centers” are both located at the same address in an industrial park,

Timing is everything in humor, and in politics. So, it was particularly amusing to read a piece in MS NOW on Monday quoting Democrats who were all singing from the same hymnal – namely that President Donald Trump “owns the economy.” ‘When you take office, you take ownership,’ Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., told MS NOW. ‘That’s what leadership is about.’ ‘It became Trump’s economy a long time ago,’ Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., said. Obviously, these Democrats meant it in a bad way. But then, on Tuesday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its estimate for GDP growth

One of the unanswered questions raised by Minnesota’s massive welfare scandal is how it could have gone on so long, given its scale and the fact that alarm bells had been clanging for years. The New York Times provided the answer, if inadvertently, when it quoted a former fraud investigator in the state attorney general’s office, who said that “There is a perception that forcefully tackling this issue might cause political backlash among the Somali community, which is a core voting bloc” for Democrats. That is it in a nutshell when it comes to government waste, fraud, and abuse.

Americans mostly trust the nation’s highest court to do what’s best, presumably by scrupulously following the laws enshrined in the 238-year-old U.S. Constitution. When U.S. Supreme Court Justices are sworn in to office, they vow to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” With this in mind, the I&I/TIPP Poll this month asked voters simply:

For generations across the South, black-eyed peas have traditionally been served on New Year's Day.
