With the House race remaining uncalled, discussions have emerged on both sides of the aisle regarding who should be the next speaker.
On the right, the discussions have naturally centered largely around current House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a Republican.
But on the left, the discussions have centered around someone else altogether — outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney, also a Republican, albeit one who just got voted out of office this election cycle (not that House rules require the speaker to be in Congress).
The idea appears to be the brainchild of Jennifer Rubin, a Washington Post columnist who for most of her career was a staunch Republican, but who completely flipped positions

The Hill is out with a column from an apparent left-winger who’s proposed that President Joe Biden make California Gov. Gavin Newsom the president.
According to Douglas MacKinnon, a political and communications consultant who worked in the Reagan, H.W. Bush, and Bush administrations, all it’d take is for Biden to pull off some bizarre, potentially unconstitutional shenanigans.
“In one scenario, Biden could ask [Vice President Kamala] Harris to resign and replace her with Newsom, who then becomes the heir apparent for 2024.

On Tuesday morning, The Gateway Pundit reported that when polls opened in Maricopa County at 6 am on Election Day, voters were told that the tabulators were not working. This was happening across Maricopa County and resulted in long lines and voters being told to go to another location to vote.
Katie Hobbs is the current Secretary of State in charge of elections.
Instead of tabulating their ballot directly, voters were also told to put their ballot into a box under the tabulator so that their ballot may be tabulated at a later time

Is the gubernatorial race in Arizona over? Not quite, but the fat lady is warming up. After four straight days of promises from certain analysts that heavy Republican ballot drops were going to arrive and save the day, Sunday’s results were again underwhelming.
While Republican Kari Lake did win the overall vote in the Maricopa County (the largest and most important) batch, it wasn’t by the margin she needed to eliminate the gap. (Tweet) When you look at the outstanding ballots, it’s very unlikely that enough votes for Lake exist to put her over the top. Deep blue Pima County still has 38,000 left while Maricopa County has 94,000.

Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer won a critical U.S. House seat in Oregon necessary to win the majority over Democrats.
Called by the Associated Press on Sunday, Chavez-DeRemer won her race in Oregon’s 5th U.S. Congressional District, beating out Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner. Per the Associated Press (AP):
Chavez-DeRemer’s victory makes her the first Latina congresswoman from Oregon, a distinction also sought by 6th District Democratic candidate Andrew Salinas. That race remained too early to call.
The district was previously held for seven terms by moderate Democrat Rep. Kurt Schrader and was targeted by the GOP, which saw the 5th as vulnerable after the long-time incumbent’s primary defeat

Rep. Jamie Raskin discusses the "political contamination of the GOP by Donald Trump" and warns that a Republican majority could make the former president the Speaker of the House.
"They talk about it repeatedly. And if Trump decided he wanted to do it, it would pose a profound problem for their party," Raskin told CBS's "Face The Nation."
MARGARET BRENNAN: Election deniers didn't prevail in the key battleground, but CBS tallied it and at least 155 House Republicans in the new Congress have raised unfounded doubts about the validity or integrity of the 2020 election.

The advent of alternative media has created a whole new world when it comes to disseminating information. But not everyone is happy about this – particularly members of the activist media.
Elon Musk ruffled more than a few feathers when he took over social media company Twitter. But when he tweeted about his vision of making the platform friendlier towards average citizens participating in journalism, at least some members of the once-vaunted fourth estate took umbrage.
On Friday, Musk tweeted:
As Twitter pursues the goal of elevating citizen journalism, media elite will try everything to stop that from happening.

With the ruling D.C. establishment having successfully beaten back the midterm election challenges to their unchecked power by congressional candidates who were supported by former President Donald J. Trump, the job now turns to snuffing out the MAGA movement and, in the eyes of many, two former leaders with much in common will be spearheading the effort.
Two of Trump’s fellow White House alumni Barack Obama and George W. Bush will be holding back-to-back “democracy” conferences following the expected announcement that he will be officially declaring a 2024 presidential run, something that the corrupt uniparty appears to be determined to prevent at all costs.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that she fully supports President Joe Biden should he run for reelection in 2024.
Anchor George Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you think President Biden should run again?”
Pelosi said, “Yes, I do. President Biden has been a great president for our country. He has accomplished so much. Over 10 million jobs under his leadership, working with the private sector, of course. He has just done so many things that are so great we would need a lot more show to talk about it. He’s put money in people’s pockets, vaccines in their arms, children back to school, people back to work,

A secret, unmanned US Space Force X-37B ship landed early on Saturday after spending a record 908 days in orbit, causing Florida residents to fear it was a UFO after hearing sonic booms.
The solar-powered vehicle, which looks like a miniature space shuttle, landed at NASA's Kennedy Space Center around 5.15am on Saturday after launching in May 2020 on its sixth mission. Its previous mission lasted 780 days.
Its unexpected return left some Central Floridians fearing for their life as a loud sonic boom sounded in the early morning hours and houses shook when the spacecraft returned to earth.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Republican reaction to the hammer attack on her husband Paul turned off voters.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “You alluded to this when I asked about your husband. I want to ask specifically, and point-blank about the fact that there has been such extremism, such political violence, and what happened to your husband was horrific. Do you think that that had an impact on voters as they cast their ballot?”
Pelosi said, “What I’m hearing is it wasn’t just the attack, it was the Republican reaction to it, which was disgraceful,
