Joe Biden paid tribute to Bob Dole as a 'giant' of U.S. history as the late Republican senator's remains lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda on Thursday.'He belongs here in this place,' the president said in remarks honoring Dole's life and service.'He too was a giant of our history. And that's not hyperbole – that's real,' Biden said in likening Dole to the likes of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Gerald Ford and Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King Jr.House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said during her remarks remembering Dole that there was no one more deserving to have a flag draped over their casket.

Nothing against Bob Dole in particular but it seems like an odd time for Washington to put on its finery and go to great expense to celebrate one of their own and in a most public way. Politicians, with rare exceptions, receive their rewards in life and Bob Dole was one. We are living with the horrible consequences of his failure to stop the despotic communist freight train that threatened to and is now well-poised to destroy American heritage and the entire promise of America. There are war heroes who lost multiple limbs and served their communities faithfully who won’t lie in state anywhere let alone the Capitol rotunda. He is no more special or deserving than any of them.

A bit too much like John McCain for my taste, but at least he was a genuine war hero.

Longevity is celebrated in all cultures so it is appropriate for Bob Dole to be honored. He was a good man, a war hero who was severely wounded defending his country. Symbolically he represents those men we call the greatest generation. Soon there won’t be any of them with us.
Politically he was no better and no worse than those working in the capitol when politics wasn’t so personal or fraught with malice and hatred. His deficiencies were not nearly as egregious as those of John McCain who was shown national honors not so long ago.
I caught the end of the Rotunda service on TV right when the soldier was performing the closing song. At first I wondered whether I was viewing the funeral of a foreign leader since the soloist was a man and a bass to boot. I thought there was a rule that only female singers were permitted during national rites. It’s been forever since I have heard a man sing the national anthem at a sporting event, inauguration, etc.

He was brave and fought in WW2. After that....he was just another damned politician. I know a couple of people from Russell, KS where he grew up and years ago, in the 90s, when he was still in the Senate, I asked one friend from Russell if he had ever met Dole. He literally laughed and said that, yes he had, many years before, and didn't like him, thought he was just another slimy politician. And Dole hadn't been anywhere around Russell in many decades.
I KNOW that he stabbed gun owners in the back on gun legislation when he could have worked to help minimize the harm to our rights. But instead he intentionally, without being forced, slipped in stronger restrictions on gun rights, all on his own. I will honor his military service, but the man was a Deep State double dealer, not to be trusted and I did not like him. And he was my Senator.

Proving once again that Democrats only like dead Republicans. I'm sure they'll make an exception for PDJT, though.

The definition of "unity" in DC:
When conservatives shut up and RINOs help the Marxist trash push their agenda forward.

During the Dole era in politics, it is clear that even back then the liberal Democrats were taking advantage of the wimpy Republicans. In that
respect, it was ways the wimpy Republicans who went along with liberal Democrat sponsored legislation, but it was rare for liberal Democrats to stand and support Republican sponsored legislation. That fact remains in force today.

DC scum sure like to lay it on when it comes to making them seem like more than they are, which is a bunch of grifters. The few who actually do and try to put the country ahead of themselves are purged asap by the scum who run the place. If you consider who might really be deemed a 'giant', it is a short list. Get along Dole fought hard as a grunt in WWII, but that was a long time ago. Since then he seemed to be part of the problem of a congress that exempts themselves from their stupid laws while rewarding themselves with perks and what should be illegal pay to play campaign contributions and insider trading. Dole was just another Senator and until the Senate and the rest of DC follows the original design that created them, none of them deserve to be called great or some sort of giant example to follow. It is disgusting.

Just heard from Tucker Carlson what a SNAKE Mitch McConnell is concerning Bob Dole's funeral. Because a man, the Event Planner in D.C. for many D.C. occasions and a close friend of Bob Dole, was planning the funeral. It was Dole's family desire to have this man handle the event. However, that EVIL WEASEL COCAINE MITCH because this event planner had helped President Trump plan the January 6 Rally, McConnell went to the Dole family and pressured them not to have this planner do the funeral or even be present. Then Mitch the Scum wrote a nasty note that sabotaged him from getting another D.C. event. What a dirty so and so. And Mitch is a Republican and is supposed to support President Trump. Looks like he's on the devil's side.
I know God says Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, but someone needs to tell old Cocaine Mitch his political days are coming to an end. What he did is pure evil. And God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man sows, that he shall reap. Mitch you and your Chinese friends (and relatives who are in bed with Chinese/wife) are going to reap plenty. May God have mercy on your soul.
