Texas Highway Patrol troopers interdicted a large group of migrants shortly after they waded across the shallow Rio Grande north of Eagle Pass on Monday. The large group was one of two that the agency interdicted that day. According to a spokesperson for the Texas Highway Patrol, 27 migrants within the group were “Special Interest Aliens,” citizens of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, and India.
A second group of 41 migrants was arrested earlier in the day, bringing the total number of migrants apprehended by the Texas Army National Guard soldiers and the Texas troopers in the Eagle Pass area on Monday to 271.

Politico’s Meredith Lee Hill and Mia McCarthy wrote an incredibly damaging article on Thursday about Gov. Tim Walz’s (D) performance in Tuesday night’s debate.
The story suggests Democrats are panicking following Walz’a debate performance against Senator J.D Vance (R-OH), who received widespread praise amongst media elites for his debate performance.
Obtaining on and off the record statements from Democrats, Hill and McCarthy did everything but torpedo Walz’s political future:
Tim Walz was supposed to cut through the political nonsense to speak plainly to Americans about out-of-touch Republicans. But instead, some Democrats were alarmed by his performance at Tuesday’s debate and said he failed to capitalize on his opponents’ weaknesses.

The Biden administration’s sweeping student loan forgiveness plan was temporarily blocked again Thursday by a Missouri judge, just one day after a federal judge in Georgia said he would let a restraining order against the relief expire.
St-Louis-based U.S. District Judge Matthew Schelp, an appointee of Republican former President Donald Trump, issued the latest preliminary injunction against Biden’s relief plan.
As a result of the order, the U.S. Department of Education is again barred from forgiving people’s student loans until Schelp has a chance to rule on the case.
The latest order capped 24 hours during which federal student loan holders were subjected to judicial whiplash

The Trafalgar Group released a poll on Wednesday showing Trump has increased his lead in the vital swing states of Michigan and Wisconsin.
The recent poll shows Trump beating Harris by 2.2 points in Michigan, with Trump scoring 47.5% of the votes to Harris's 45.3%. On August 31, the Trafalgar Group had Trump beating Harris 47% to 46.6%, a lead of only 0.4%.
Trump is winning in Wisconsin as well, topping the Kackler by 47.1% to 46%. The poll had Trump at 47.3% to Harris's 46.2%.

A defensive President Biden on Thursday disputed criticism that his administration was caught off-guard by Hurricane Helene, insisting that he had a plan in place even before the deadly storm made landfall.
“Days before the storm hit, I pre-positioned extensive resources on the ground throughout the Southeast, extensively — first responders, search and rescue teams, food, water, ambulances — before Helene made landfall,” Mr. Biden said after touring the damage in Ray City, Georgia.
He said he approved disaster relief funding before the storm hit, unlocking federal aid for the states impacted by the storm, which includes Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The price of oil has jumped 5% after US President Joe Biden said the US was discussing possible strikes by Israel on Iran’s oil industry.
Asked on a visit if he would support Israel striking Iran’s oil facilities, Biden said: “We’re discussing that."
Iran is the seventh largest oil producer in the world, exporting around half its production abroad, mainly to China.
Since Iran’s missile attack on Israel on Monday, the price of benchmark Brent crude oil has risen 10% to $77 a barrel, although this remains below levels seen earlier this year. Any extended rise in energy prices raises the possibility of higher petrol prices and increased

Governor Ron DeSantis (R., Fla.) is making sure the disruptive east coast dockworker strike does not get in the way of his state’s ongoing hurricane recovery efforts.
DeSantis announced Thursday an executive order sending Florida’s National Guard to ports affected by the dockworker strike and directing Florida’s department of transportation to waive select tolls and weight regulations for trucks. He is also instructing the Florida highway patrol to oversee the flow of traffic from ports into the state.
“At my direction, the Florida national guard and Florida state guard will be deployed to critical ports affected to maintain order and if possible resume operations

ERIE, Pa. — Democrats have been losing voters in Pennsylvania over the past four years, leaving Republicans salivating over the prospect of former President Donald Trump recapturing the biggest swing state in the Nov. 5 election.
Nearly 300,000 registered Democrats have dropped off the rolls since 2020, even as Republicans have netted about 50,000 new registered voters — all in a state President Biden won by roughly 80,000 votes.
The changes come in places like Luzerne County, near Mr. Biden’s hometown of Scranton. In 2020, Democrats held a 20,000 registered vote advantage, but as of last week, they trail the GOP by a few hundred votes. Mr. Trump won

A deadly hurricane, a massive labor strike and wars raging around the globe are among the crises engulfing the Biden-Harris administration one month before the election.
Former President Donald Trump is flipping the script on Democrats, who for months have warned voters that he would bring chaos if he returns to the White House.
“It’s a choice between freedom and chaos,” Ms. Harris told her audience at a rally in Milwaukee this summer. Her argument isn’t resonating with voters as war erupts in the Middle East, illegal immigrants swarm across the southern border, and rural residents in Georgia and North Carolina beg for help

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned Wednesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which has spent more than one billion dollars on services for illegal immigrants over the past year, now has insufficient funds to last through the hurricane season.
“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” Mayorkas told reporters. “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”
Hurricane Helene has ravaged the west coast of Florida and several states in the Southeast, flooding towns, destroying properties, and killing over 160 people.

A South Carolina volunteer firefighter was threatened with arrest after he used his own helicopter to assist with rescue efforts in western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact on the area. This comes as the Biden-Harris administration's Department of Transportation has set up a no-fly zone for drones in the area, and issued a temporary no-fly zone for private flights.
Jordan Seidhom told Queen City News that when he woke up on Saturday, he saw a post on Facebook regarding a family stranded in Banner Elk, North Carolina. After researching the mountains where the family was located on his mapping software

It has been a week since Hurricane Helene hit western North Carolina, and Joe Biden has finally announced, on behalf of whoever is running the country, that he has authorized 1,000 federal troops from Fort Bragg (I will never call it anything else) North Carolina, to assist in disaster relief operations a mere 250 miles away.
Today, the President is announcing he has directed the Department of Defense to deploy up to 1,000 active-duty soldiers to support response efforts. These soldiers are part of an Infantry Battalion Task Force, based out of Fort Liberty, North Carolina, which includes a Forward Support Company
