Journalists Should Stop Cleaning Up After Biden

Original Article

All political candidates make mistakes. They have to retract hasty, ill-considered statements. They find that the position they took to win their primaries is inconvenient afterward, and try to explain it away. For a lucky few candidates, the embarrassment is mitigated by the assistance of journalists who accept the explanations or, even better, don’t ask for them in the first place. Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee for president, is in that enviable position. Whenever he makes a political mess, he is blessed with people, many of them not in his employ, who will clean it up for him.

President Trump has it within his power to make the press cover Biden. We know he has energy and can be everywhere at once, but when he follows up a great day about Mideast peace, he always follows it up with a distraction like a panel of "independent" voters with Stephanopoulos. That just gives the press the excuse to change the subject. The same way a NASCAR tweet knocked Mt. Rushmore off the front page. If he'd go quiet for a week, they'd have to cover Biden. If the election's about Biden, Biden loses. Right now, it's still about Trump every day.

Franklin delano roosevelt, as a young man, contracted Paralytic Polio. For the remainder of his life, he could not walk. But in a quiet conspiracy, reporters and news photographers did not show him in a wheelchair. In public appearances, FDR's two strong sons appeared with him, each gripping one of FDR's arms, essentially lifting him off the ground, his legs flailing along, pretending to walk. Reporters covering Biden are doing the equivalent. Yesterday's press conference was slick but shameful. If you watch the event you will see how his notebook is used to answer pre-submitted questions. and I suspect he also has a wireless mini microphone stuck in his ear to keep on course. Weekend at Bernie's also comes to mind.

His hardening of the arteries evident in nearly utterance that passes his lips, career grifter Biden would be a pitiable character if he hadn't been so corrupt, so greedy, and so dishonest for so long. Whatever pity we might have had for him founders on the rocky shores of reason. He's not entitled to any pity unless he retires from the race on the grounds of mental incompetence. But he'd have to be honest to do that. He's in it to win it, even if he piddles a puddle on the podium. The Democrats showed their respect for American voters by kicking upstairs--nominating for president!--someone who can't communicate even the simplest thoughts, who leaks meaningless words and authentic Gabby Johnson frontier gibberish as other leaks down below warm his Depends and threaten his shoes. It has really come to this. The disloyal opposition expect us to elect a marionette with advanced dementia. These people need a good thorough beating.

Nothing new. They cleaned up after JFK,Clinton, Obama and FDR. FDR's wheelchair bound paralysis was dutifully covered up. The" journalists" happily clean up now, but should Harris/Obama/Sanders/Soros win (heaven help us), the giddy journalists will be threatened if they don't clean up and cover up. That's the way communism rolls.

A typical Yahoo piece. Per Biden's stance on guns, as far as I know, it is illegal to own an ASSAULT weapon, i.e. one that can autofire. The reason the seize gun fanatics keep going after the AR-15 is that it LOOKS like the military version that is autofire and they think they can sell fear of the nasty looking gun. Civilian versions are single fire only. The problem for Biden and other dems is that they say one thing to one audience and the opposite to a different audience. Why? Because there is no way to craft a policy that does up and down at the same time, so they have to lie. The Leftist stance is their true intent and the legal stance is the lie. They used to get away with this more when the dems and Republicans were not so far apart. They could wiggle a bit each way and appease both sides. Now, the differences are so gapping that trying to pander to both sounds idiotic and is obviously duplicitous. Besides it doesn't matter what Biden "thinks" (if he actually can). It only matters what the Left wants because THEY will be the ones in charge of a dem administration.

Some of the analogies to FDR are a bit off target. Having polio is not a disqualification for higher office; having senile dementia is. The decision not to display President Roosevelt's disability from polio was, perhaps, as much for the sake of the country as for him as a politician. However by 1944, the country had a right to know more about the state of the president's health than they were told. President Roosevelt was a dying man, and his doctors knew it. The American people were unknowingly electing FDR's successor in much the same way that they might now be, in effect, electing Kamala Harris. It's a cheap, shoddy trick unworthy of a great democracy. And the decision to conceal Biden's clearly-accelerating inability to function is flat out evil. It is detrimental to our country and the democratic process. The media should be ashamed of themselves, but we already know they are incapable of that.

2nd post apologies, but, #16, you took an inductive leap, I think. I did not say paralysis was a disqualifying factor for the presidency. I mentionjed it as an example of how journalists are willing to ignore stuff about their candidate. when Eisenhower suffered a stroke while president, many reporters kept track of Ike's speaking errors, some of them openly mocking him for his disability. Yet they were willing to remain silent about JFK's poor health, womanizing, and drug use.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

Especially considering the “demographic winter,” which is so evident in Spain and Italy. “In Italy there are empty villages with just twenty old ladies and nothing else,” he said. “Why can’t we make a policy in the West where immigrants are included with the principle that the migrant should be welcomed, accompanied, promoted, and integrated?” he asked.
