New York Yankees postpone game Monday
due to solar eclipse

Original Article

As many of you may already know, Monday will provide millions of Americans with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse as the path of totality streaks across several U.S. states. One of those states is New York, and it's already prompted one of the state's professional baseball teams to make some changes to their schedule. The New York Yankees were originally scheduled to face the Miami Marlins Monday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. local time. But the team announced it has pushed back that start time by four hours because the eclipse is slated to begin just minutes before first pitch.

People in caves handled eclipses better than supposedly educated people today. We've had eclipses in my lifetime. Three I think. One was total. It was treated with excitement, not fear.

There was a total eclipse in the 60s in upstate NY. It was during the summer. I lived. I don't remember the hype.

Yankees management, just turn the lights on for thirty minutes during totality? Then play your game as scheduled. As for us, #3, my wife and I have seen two of them now with my solar binocs and sunglasses. Bought these ahead of the 2014 eclipse then we drove up to Casper, Wyoming to see totality. Even played hooky from work that time for a couple of days while keeping an eye on my email. Quietly went home to hitch up the trailer and headed for some rangeland south of the Casper area to see it. Then last year to see another solar eclipse and totality again in the Cortez, Colorado area where my sister and spouse live. Yeah, it's kind of cool to experience it, but as seasoned solar eclipse veterans now, we don't have the itch anymore to jump into the truck, hitch up the trailer, and try to witness a third. At 71 years old, two is plenty for us.

We were planning to drive about five hours SE to see totality.....but it will be mostly cloudy, so we'll stay home and see about a 95% eclipse in clear skies. Oh, well.

How does totality happen at 2:15 in New York and at 3:15 in Michigan? We're both EDT.

When Islamic terrorists attack America, Sen. Bernie Sanders warns against fighting them. When Hamas attacks Israel, Bernie condemns the Jewish State for fighting back and demands a ceasefire. When criminals run loose around America’s cities, Bernie insists that we treat the social injustices that cause their crimes and let them go. But when Bernie’s own office gets torched, it’s a whole different ball game.

Choosing what it must think is the lesser of two evils, the Biden campaign has Vice President Kamala Harris hitting the campaign trail, rather than continuing to conspicuously keep her under wraps. Problem is, upping Harris’ visibility can only remind voters that she’s likely to rise to the top when President Biden is no longer even able to fake being up to the job — and, worse, remind them of her utter awfulness. For the record, her net favorability shows as -17.2 in the latest RealClearPolitics polling average (37.2% favorable, 54.4% unfavorable), vs. Biden’s -14.5 (+40.7%, -55.2).

Three out of four British Muslims do not believe Hamas carried out murder and rape in the October 7 attacks in Israel, a shock new poll suggests. The largest survey of its kind since the current Israel-Hamas conflict began also shows 46 per cent of those questioned saying they sympathised with the militant group. The findings come on the six-month anniversary of the October 7 massacre which saw Hamas terrorists kill about 1,200 citizens and take 253 hostage. Interfaith leaders say the results show how 'a lot of work needs to be done to inform, challenge, and address old anti-Semitic tropes that are still circulating'.

Fast food chain McDonald's will buy back all of its Israeli restaurants following a boycott of the brand after it was criticised for giving away thousands of free meals to Israeli soldiers. The move to donate meals to troops was later renounced by McDonald's franchises in some Muslim countries, highlighting the polarized regional politics that global corporations navigate during war. Some Western brands are feeling the impact of boycotts in Egypt and Jordan that have now caught on in some countries outside the Arab region including Muslim-majority Malaysia. The popular chain said it had reached an agreement with franchisee Alonyal for 225 outlets across the country employing 5,000 people.

According to former federal prosecutor Eric Lisann, Knight Specialty Insurance won't be allowed to post a $175 million bond for Donald Trump as he appeals a fraud judgment. This statement came in response to lawyer Dave Kingman's assertion that the insurance company wouldn't be able to secure the bond for Trump. Newsweek explains: Kingman wrote that, as a result, New York Attorney General Letitia James will be able to begin enforcement proceedings on Donald Trump's properties. A New York court has rejected Knight Specialty's paperwork and said it wanted to see more information on its financial backing. The company filed new paperwork on April 4.

Yet, we’ve now got a rare look at just how evil he truly was. Barr wasn’t merely “concerned” about the 2020 election; he was outright “irate.” Not over the injustice of it all, mind you, but because he was incensed by any investigations into the sham. If this doesn’t scream his direct involvement in the coup against Trump, what does? Here’s what Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington had to share about “irate” Bill Barr and his urgent push to halt any probes

Hundreds of thousands of people who have traveled to see Monday’s total solar eclipse across the southern and northeastern United States are likely to be disappointed, as cloud cover and bad weather cover much of the path. A total solar eclipse is a rare event in which the moon passes directly in front of the sun, casting a dark shadow that lasts a few minutes at any given point, depending on variables such as the distance of the moon from the earth. The experience is spectacular. During totality, the outer portion of the sun — the corona — is visible, as are stars near the sun, and planets such as Mercury,

In a terrifying video posted on X by ABC’s chief transportation reporter Sam Sweeney, the metal engine cover can be seen whipping in the breeze like paper as it tore loose. Over the past few years the term "Deaths of Despair" has become all too common. It's not a new term; after the fall of the Soviet Union, the already poor state of Russians' health deteriorated and lifespans declined. The same effect has been seen in places where social cohesion and support structures deteriorated for some reason or another. And, not that many people know it, it was known in public health circles (before they conveniently forgot) that excessive "Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions" (NPIs) to address a public health crisis caused serious health problems that often were worse than the disease.
