An Arizona State University senior who was arrested and suspended after trespassing during an anti-Israel protest broke down in tears over missing graduation as a consequence of her actions.
“I’m being restricted from a lot of things right now that I didn’t expect to be for standing up for something I believe in,” Breanna Brocker told ABC15 as she choked up.
“You know I have family coming in who I have to let them know not come to my graduation ceremonies.”
She tearfully added: “I’m just disappointed. I’m a 2020 high school grad, so I wasn’t able to walk then.

This was today's moment of schadenfreude. As someone else commented. She was not arrested for protesting. She was charged with trespassing and I would add that she joined in when her comrades went wild. It has often been pointed out that the purpose of punishment is to encourage better decision making, like the cat that was momentarily singed on a hot stove.

So "missing graduation" is a price *too high* for this snowflake, but Israelis are expected to endure daily missile barrages targeting civilians and the threat of another Oct 7th attack????

I work in the pro-life movement here in Texas. I have known many people in the movement who got arrested protesting the slaughter of abortion. They knew there would be consequences and decided the cost was worth it. Never tears. Never "that's not fair".
This ignorant sow should have been expelled and not allowed to graduate from ASU once she was arrested. ASU should also not provide transcripts of her work at that university to any other college. Let her start over from day 1 at another college.

What a shame; not about the grad, but about how busy the NYP website has become. Not worth the trouble to read the articles.

These snowflakes have no sense of reality. They had better grow up fast. It's a dangerous world they are walking into. I have a feeling a lot of these dolts will be blindsided.

My husband joined a Navy Reserve Unit during college during Vietnam because he was going to be drafted out of school. They promised he wouldn't be drafted until he was finished. The day after his last final he was on a plane for basic training thus couldn't walk for graduation. I never heard him complain once. Life isn't always fair but that's the way life is.

It's all fun and games until you're held accountable for your actions. I bet she even thought it was fun getting arrested. Not attending graduation would be a small price to pay if she truly believed in the cause.

The article says she can still get her degree, albeit under different circumstances. I can only imagine what the degree is for. It’s worthless to any employer, that’s for sure. She’ll likely get a government job.

Just wait until she goes on a job interview if she thinks missing graduation was awful. That stupid protesting might follow her everywhere she goes. She might have a difficult time getting a decent job provided the degree she received is worth anything to an employer.

Is ASU even holding ceremonies? Many graduation ceremonies are being cancelled for everyone, not just the few that took part in the actions. How fair is that?

Why aren't these colleges and universities creating legal documents for the parent and student to sign in consideration to bad behavior like protests? This is an issue that the university or college can do nothing about and is unrelated to their education. As soon as one tent went up, campus police should have been removing it. The student does not own that property. From the article she states: “I was doing what I believed was right and I still believe it to be right. I would stand up for the cause again, even if it means something negative for me,” she said." It is not her property to stand on and protest. . .

So, she thinks it is OK to carry on like a little terrorist on university property to and not have to face the consequences for her supporting hate? She and her cohorts should not even get their diplomas.

Actions have consequences. When I was a senior in college and weeks away from graduating, something I had put sweat, blood and tears into accomplishing, I didn't do ANYTHING that would stop that from happening. She should have had her eyes on the prize and saved the protesting for after commencement.
