Ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) nations have agreed to eliminate all coal-fired power plants by 2035.
The countries that are members of the Group of Seven (G7) are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union.
This declaration was made by Andrew Bowie, a UK minister at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, during an interview in Turing, Italy.
“We do have an agreement to phase out coal in the first half of the 2030s,” Bowie said.
“This is, by the way, a historic agreement, something that we weren’t able to achieve at COP28 in Dubai last year.”

Since most coal-fired plants are located in China and India, and since those two countries will never close a single such plant to reduce CO2 emissions, the action by the G7 countries will only impoverish them, without affecting the climate one bit.

Even more importantly, since there is no credible scientific consensus on the effects of C02 on global climate, the entire effort is lunacy.

In other news, China announces plans to double the number of their coal fired plants by 2035.
In other, other news, climate activists vow to continue to badger the citizens of countries in the Western World and make their lives miserable while ignoring what China is doing.

Well, If they plan on shutting down coal powered plant by 2035 they had better start building Nuclear Plants now, otherwise it aint gonna work Jack.

Science needs no consensus. Consensus is the refuge of politicians, and other scoundrels and ne'er do wells. The science on the subject of temperatures around the globe indicate there is nothing unusual going on, unless you factor in the manipulation of climate records/data by corrupt government agencies and scientific organizations, propagated by the even more corrupt "media". This is about control of the masses, if not the elimination of the masses. That's it. End of story.

This should go over well in Pennsylvania. And all those men and women that work in coal fired electrical plants. No coal, no oil, no LNG. Just windmills and miles and miles of solar panels.
Somewhere in China, the communists are gleefully rubbing their hands together in anticipation of the trillions in solar panel orders.

As pointed out by earlier posters, China has been putting TWO large coal-fired power plants into commission every week for the last few years, with no sign of slowing down.
India also is steadily building new Coal-fired power plants, with no plans to slow down.
The increases in coal use by these two countries alone will dwarf the reductions in coal use by the G7.
The whole 'climate change' campaign is a fraud and a scam.

The climate control freaks worldwide, are probably going to be the cause of WWIII; however, since the climate control freaks are the enemy of all first-world or emerging nations, democratic, authoritarian, islamic theocracy, monarchy, or communist, the war promises to be short and swift - and does not require a nuclear armageddon.

The Paris Accords had the year 2100 as the target year to achieve the goals so why the rush?

The Treaties clause requires congressional approval. And, how are we to pay for all the sunk costs.? (This insanity is a taking). How are we to pay for all the new capacity? Are China and India agreeing to this?

In the early 1980's the Palm Springs, CA area had approx 3500 - 4000 windmills installed in the pass west of the city. The windy pass is subject to winds of 30 to 5o mph. So extensive tests were run to determine how effective the windmills were and what percentage of the day and night was there sufficient winds to produce electricity.
Over a one year period the windmills were producing electricity for only 17% of the day and night. When the report came in it was estimated that only 3% to 4% of the annual power requirement could be produced by windmills. Multiply the existing number of windmills at the time of the survey by 33 and we were estimating that well over 100,000 windmills would be needed to power the Palm Springs area for 17% of the day. Fossil fuel plants would be required for the 83% of the days and nights when the wind wasn't blowing.
As far as solar - we'd have to cover the entire country with solar panels and restrict our work and personal needs to when the sun was out. Imagine the pollution caused by battery storage and to power the 600,000,000 cars or countlass 18 wheelers to ship or food and other necessities around the country.
Does Government EVER think of the consequences of their actions?????

in todays world it takes absolutely no qualifications to be a representative of a G-7 country ... just tow the line and go along with all of the ridiculous and subversive agreements on the table and you'll do just fine
