Biden’s presser

President Biden lost his train of thought a couple of times, but didn’t melt down in any significant way in his first presidential press conference. He called on only 10 reporters in roughly an hour and 15 minutes. All of the reporters called upon were friendlies, some of whom, especially NPR’s Yamiche Alcindor, seemed to be helping him present his narrative. (snip) he stuck closely to a list of reporters on whom he would call (snip) when he answered, he read the answers from notes in front of him. Not just facts and figures, but prepared answers. (snip) he didn’t seem to shuffle through his notes at all.

Imagine what would have happened if Biden had dropped his notes and they got scattered and out of order. I wonder if he would have known the reporter's names who to call on, and if he could have given a coherent answer. Imagine the panic of his handlers. I wonder if he would have been hustled off stage as if an assassin were in the room.

It was very obvious that he not only already knew the questions, he knew what order they would come in and read the answers from his little binder. The media were complicit in this farce. Look for it to be exposed. There’s always someone who can’t keep their mouth shut.

What I saw was not a press conference. The guy is doing the best he can. The trouble is that his dementia is quite severe, and he needs to be prompted every minute or so. He knows (sort of) that he is President. But he cannot recognize reporters, he cannot respond to follow up questions, he is limited to reading the prepared remarks on his prompter screen. "Where am I now?" What I want to know is who IS making the decisions.

Scripted, coached, and choreographed and he could barely manage. He's so not home. The vacant look. The loss for words where he absolutely did not know what to say. The meandering answers that lead nowhere. The inability to even follow his part in a script. Who were the script writers, btw? Definitely not Biden. Guess his Board of Regents put it together, and the 'media' played along. What a farce. Hope they realize our enemies have no intention of following a script that Biden can follow. There is going to be a major league reality check. This isn't governing. It isn't even ruling. Its nothing more than a bunch of con artists trying to con the audience, and its not working at all.

Karma is coming calling for the disgraceful teachers’ unions that have kept children from attending school for a year in much of the country. Successfully shaking down the federal government for 9 figures’ worth of additional funding, they have ignored the science that says young children are at almost no risk from Covid. From the very first moment of Biden’s first press conference, one could tell that the days of Trump press conferences were gone. You remember those days, don’t you? Gotcha questions, lectures, fights, interruptions, blatant disrespect – not from Trump, but from the media. It was they who created a sense of chaos and divisiveness, not Trump. It was very different this time. The media were on their best behavior but even they couldn’t protect Biden from himself. Other posts here address more substantive issues raised in the press conference. This is just about style points for both Biden and the media.
