Actor Matthew McConaughey, a Lone Star State native, said he is “dumbfounded” by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) decision to lift Texas’s mask mandate, categorizing face coverings as nothing more than a “small inconvenience” that will lead to “more freedom” in the future.
“My reaction to that is, I was a little dumbfounded by the decision,” the Gentleman star said of Abbott’s decision during a Wednesday appearance on CBS This Morning. “I understand ‘go back to work.’ What I did not understand was ‘pull the mask mandate.'”
“It’s not the mask we’re afraid of, c’mon. It’s the word ‘mandate.’ Let’s not let the word ‘mandate’ get in the way of practical use

Star dude, if you are truly from Texas, you should already know what freedom means. Maybe Matthew is just to liberal to understand it.

Most actors are dumb as a post. I know; I was one for a while, and worked with more than my fair share. They also have a pathological need to be the center of attention. That’s a bad combination. Matthew, I like you...a lot. But, unless you plan on running as a democrat in Texas, you just screwed yourself to the wall.

A mask isn't a "small inconvenience" when you're exercising or doing anything that causes you to breathe heavily.

Proof that he wouldn't even grasp the things that are requirements for the job.
He's OK in movies, but I'd never vote for him.

Says the pretty boy who's never tried sucking hot Texas air through a face diaper while changing truck tires at Buckey's Truckstop on the 4th of July weekend. Minor inconvenience, my foot.

If you want to wear a mask, Mr. McConaughey, go for it. It's a much freer state today thanks to Gov. Abbott finally coming to his senses (or at least reading his polling numbers, which probably weren't looking good -- especially among his base conservative voters).
But don't tell the rest of us what to do. You aren't dictator yet (though this is a good hint at what sort of governor you would be if you had the chance).

Matt has spent waaayyy too much time with the Hollywood elites. On top of that, when he comes to Texas he apparently spends too much time cheering the Texas University Longhorn football program. They are steers for a reason.

The gov is probably more qualified to make that decision than Matthew.

Losing Freedom is not a "small inconvenience".dumbass.
Do we need a law prohibiting actor-speak that isn't from an official script?
Maybe a little reverse-fascism is in order for people who sell Lincolns

Nobody is stopping you from wearing a mask if you really want to still wear one! That is the joy of living in Texas...you are free to decide for yourself.

Don't sell this guy short as a candidate, Texas. Lou, I mean Greg Abbott has himself a pile of troubles, from the great Texas blackout/freeze to the border, not to mention dithering on COVIDS and masks, lockdowns, etc.

He is a good actor, but you might want to wear a mask around him because he rarely bathes.

I get your point about the "small inconvenience," Matt. But if that's all it is, why do Jon F'n Carry, Nancy Pelosi, and Gavin Newsome refuse to comply?

Can you all jump off the McConaughey for governor silliness now? We have to give people time to prove themselves. A little common sense doesn't always go a long way.
