Wall Street elite who flocked to Florida to ride out the COVID-19 crisis now have regrets — and are eyeing a move back to the Big Apple.“The main problem with moving to Florida is that you have to live in Florida,” Jason Mudrick, the founder of Mudrick Capital Management, told Bloomberg. Those among the upper crust are being drawn back to New York for its choice selection of private schools, restaurants and cultural institutions — as well as the city’s deep pool for young talent when it comes to finance jobs.“New York has the smartest, most driven people, the best culture, the best restaurants and the best theaters,”

The New York these elitists yearn for is the part of New York made up of blood sucking leeches that skim off of the hard work of everyone else in the country. Maybe Florida should issue them one more tax bill like New York does before forcing them to leave.

I’ve lived almost all of my life in California. Love it. The good so outweighs anything negative. No interest in NYC or Florida.

They miss the "culture"..... Several thoughts. Many wealthy people, many years ago DONATED their money by the bucket loads to build that culture. Government didn't build the Met. Government didn't build those restaurants. Central Park was DONATED. So......If you miss your precious snooty culture, BUILD IT!
Florida has plenty of culture. Just not the culture approved of by the wine sipping elitists. Florida is is a hot humid climate where its culture largely revolves around being outside, the beaches, fishing and diving. Something you can only do in New York three months out of the year. You may want to get a tetanus shot before jumping in the waters around New York. Florida is spread out. Floridians, even in Miami, don't live on top of each other. One has to drive to go shopping. Its a completely different lifestyle.
Florida has plenty of good food. Just not that crap you pay hundreds of dollars for. We do fish, BBQ and a lot of Cuban and Caribbean cuisine.
Its been my experience and observation that New Yorkers are the most obnoxious, inflexible, angry, rude, insufferable, arrogant, complaining elitists' snobs on the face of the planet. New Yorkers make the French look good.

Adios, you snots! Go back to your crime ridden, closed up, filthy city. No one will miss you. And, BTW, we don’t care how you do it up north.

The smartest? They want to return to New York. The best culture? As long as it's woke culture. The best restaurants? None of them are open because of the communist mayor. Best theaters? None of those are open either. Add in the defunded police, the subway stabbers, and the trash, for the idiot woke clowns, it's nirvana.

Hey genius, your “smartest people” elected Bill DeBlasio, AOC, and Hillary Clinton, and your “best culture, best restaurants and best theaters” are all closed, in case you didn’t notice.

I'll be large bagel Lia's editor directed her to come up with an article about New Yorkers wanting to return, and her loyal-Democrat editor was probably directed to do so by a Democrat publisher who rubs elbows with NY DemoMarxist elite who get their attitudes and ideas from political focus groups.

The return to NYC of the people quoted in this article is a good deal for Florida. While I can understand preferring the excitement of Manhattan to the lassitude of Florida, I have to laugh at the notion that NYC contains the smartest people. The three terms of Mayor Bloomberg followed by de Blasio as well as the ardent support for Governor Cuomo are proof that the residents of NYC are sadly dim-witted.

By coincidence, there's a similar article in the NY Daily News, this one dealing with exiles to Connecticut who miss the Rotten Apple's "diversity, buzziness, and staggering array of cultural offerings". No doubt the Florida locals are dancing with joy, but this smells like a professional PR campaign to lure back the taxpayers the city needs to pay its pension obligations. "We left NYC because of COVID—and can’t wait to return"

I hope people remind them of this when the next crisis pops up. Put signs at the state line saying, "New Yawkers, go home. They do things better there, remember?"

#9 - I'll take ANY Florida beach over Coney Island or Brighton. Better to live in Florida and visit NYC rather than the other way around. But, then, I'm not an elitist so I wouldn't know.

#6, Earlybird, where are you in CA?
[It was a 10-year prayer to get another masters and study in LA (@Masters’) and loved it... was there from ‘06 til ‘21... Newport Beach overlooking Catalina sunsets every night, then Monterey, stopping by Aloha Cafe for a smoothie or coffee on way for daily mile walk along Monterey Bay... Caring for Grandblessings each Mon-Wed, but Newsom became too oppressive, even though our church in Cupertino only missed services the first two weeks... after months of prayers, blessed to be here in SC on way to FL Gulf Coast, serving other ladies using my degree, walking and praying on their white ‘sugar’ beaches.]
