Romney helps GOP
look for new path
on climate change

Hill, by Alexander Bolton

Original Article

Posted By:tisHimself, 3/25/2019 5:48:12 AM

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who is emerging as a pragmatic leader among Senate Republicans, is at the center of private discussions among GOP senators about crafting a legislative response to climate change. Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) has tried to put the focus on Senate Republicans for not having a plan to combat global warming, which has been linked to erratic weather events costing American communities billions of dollars in damages

FTA: “There’s no question that we’re experiencing climate change and that humans are a significant contributor to that,” Romney told The Hill. There´s no question WE are experiencing the stirrings of a gigantic, flawed ego slouching towards another doomed run for president by this putz. And in case you thought there was any chance Graham is not a McQueeg-like jerk, this, FTA: “I’ve talked to Romney. The Green New Deal is kind of a ridiculous proposal, but denying the problem is equally as bad,” Graham said.

The ´climate´ is what it is... simply by definition, it cannot change. Nor are there ´fossil fuels´ or even ´sustainability´. I remember the frenzy that the atomic bomb would destroy the planet... and that ongoing scam about the end of the world in ___ days.
Community organizers are always crying Chicken Little to stir up angst, $$, and votes. They are despicable to us deplorables.

"Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who is emerging as the latest in a long line of republican Senators who have betrayed their country and the voters who put them in office, is at the center of sleazy, corrupt, private discussions among GOP senators about crafting a legislative response to the bogus climate change garbage, which will further erode the liberties of the American People.

There, fixed the opening sentence of this communist propaganda article.

The meaning of "pragmatic" is "practical" . What is practical abut pushing a scam on the American people? Well, it would enrich certain high up people. Why does the phony baloney green deal lets kill off the American economy and enslave her people con game require a response? It only does if you intend on making money and acquiring more power by seeming to be be a moderate in this scam. " The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule". Mitt Romney is a crook. He has always been one, always will be one. Now that he is in the Senate, he is going to let that part of himself come out to play finally. He must be absolutely exhausted from having to hide that part of himself for all these years.

His sleazy smiling countenance was made for the current climate of the Senate. When the chickens he hatched at Bain start coming home to roost, I hope he remembers the lack of support he showed to other innocent men, and doesn´t get too disappointed if nobody offers him any support either.

I thought Mormons, like Romney, believed that God is sovereign over all. That He alone is in control. That the Creator of the universe is more powerful than mankind.

Has Romney now succumbed to Satan and his lies that man can control global weather? That if we only taxed enough people we can control erratic weather events in specific areas?

Sorry, Mittens, I´m not buying your blasphemy.

They are called “flood plains” and “100 year flood plains” for a reason. And as areas get populated and built out with housing developments it changes the terrain, which changes the scope of flood plains. Area where there used to be farms are now heavily populated and concrete is everything - so naturally there’ll be heavy monetary damages and some loss of life. Floods happen, droughts happen, tornadoes happen, hurricanes happen. We humans are in Mother Nature’s way - simple as that.

They are among us, #21.

Romney´s advocates on this site are well-known and were prominent in reassuring us that he would be a reliable conservative senator for the good people of Utah.

They have now fallen silent as they always have in the past once Mitt Romney´s immediate political objective has been achieved. They no longer defend him here because they no longer need to.

And that´s fortunate for them because Romney is, of course, indefensible. A political weather vane who spins on the winds of opportunity and self-aggrandizement, Mitt Romney is utterly without principles. He lies about his conservative opponents, lies about his positions on issues, and even lies about the little things in life like how long he´s been a hunter, when he joined the NRA, and why he became pro-life when previously he wasn´t.

It would be difficult to find a more perfect poster child for the dishonest self-serving Republican Party Establishment than Mitt Romney.

In the movie The Maltese Falcon, there´s a wonderful scene where the villains congregate on one side of the room, whispering conspiratorially. Humphrey Bogart´s Sam Spade leans over to they´re hired gun and says, "Six, two and even, they´re selling you out, Sonny."

Whenever you see Mitt Romney meeting with Republicans and reporters, it´s six, two and even they´re selling us out.

Romney is that dumb.
Take an orange and look at its skin.

He says the president hasn´t taken on the mantle of president. And that moderating of the more entertaining to me part of the president is probably what is needed to win in 2020, pragmatically speaking.

#26- Indeed, God is sovereign over all. God controls the universe, including weather. Scripture is the inerrant Word of God:

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?...” (Job 38:1-3)

(Matthew 5:45, 8:26-27; Mark 4:39-41; Luke 8:24-25; Acts 14:17

If I recall, he was endorsed by PDT. Why, the President tweeted, "He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch and has my full support and endorsement!"
"
And Romney was so happy we replied, "Thank you Mr. President for the support. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah."

Don´t know what all the griping is all about. It´s not like Romney lied, or behaved differently than he had in the past. And now watch Lindsey play the same game, albeit in "defense" of PDT and most of his agenda. It´s all boob bait.

This is all about 2020...

What is the evidence that we’re experiencing climate change and that humans are a significant contributor to that??

I fully understand that human activities can pollute the air, and through our capitalist system, the United States alone has made more progress to lower emissions than the Paris Accord required...and no other country has really made an effort.

Just as there is no "pee free" end of a swimming pool, one country can not be the only one trying to control emissions. As long as China, India and other countries do not take the necessary measures, then the efforts of the United States will be undone by the "bad emissions" from all the rest of the world.

The lying politicians who support devastating our economy to lower emissions, while the rest of the world are not even taking the smallest steps in this area should properly be voted out of office.

Any recommendations should include a plan to include other countries in the effort.

Robert Mueller’s hit job disguised as a counterintelligence report would not be complete until America heard from its favorite Bain Capital founder whose dad was a governor: Willard “Mitt” Romney. The senator from Utah was “appalled” at Mueller’s revelations, but not in the raised eyebrow sort of way you or I would be when the baseball manager signals the bullpen and brings in the struggling pitcher. No, Romney was upset like the guy who forgets to lock the bathroom door in first class and suffers an intrusion by a confused kid from the cheap seats who blurts out, “Sorry, dude.”

We’re at a time in our country when most of our elected officials apparently have forgotten their responsibilities. In truth, U.S. politicians in their capacity as politicians have one moral imperative: to promote, protect, and advance the interests of the American people they represent. Everything else is secondary. To do anything other than promote the interests of the American people—or worse, to promote behavior that is detrimental to the interests of Americans—is, in fact, immoral. So what does it mean, then, to be a moral public official?

The Democratic Party has a simple strategy: Continue pumping funds into Democratic candidates until traditionally Republican-leaning states turn purple, and then finally flip blue. It may have taken decades, but the steady stream of dollars to the Left is finally moving the needle. In Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz defeated Beto O’Rourke by less than two points, even though it’s been 40 years since a Democrat came within five percentage points of winning a Senate seat in the Lone Star state. Before Lucy McBath defeated Karen Handel in Georgia´s 6th Congressional District, a Democrat hadn’t held that seat since 1976

Today is Earth Day, a celebration originally conceived by then-U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson (D-Wis.) and first held in 1970 as a “symbol of environmental responsibility and stewardship.” In the spirit of the time, it was a touchy-feely, consciousness-raising, New Age experience. Most activities were organized at the grassroots level. In recent years, however, Earth Day has become an occasion for professional environmental activists and alarmists to warn of apocalypse, dish anti-technology dirt, proselytize, and raise money more to sustain their movement than to sustain the planet. Provability inevitably takes a back seat to alleged plausibility.

From late 2015 until April 2019, the media, the Left, and the Obama administrative state hierarchy warned us nonstop that candidate, president-elect, and inaugurated President Trump “colluded” with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton, to assemble a suspect cabinet, and to rule in treasonous fashion in the interests of Vladimir Putin. The former head of the CIA and the director of national intelligence were birthed as permanent analysts at MSNBC and CNN to sermonize—with wink-and-nod assurances that their past billets and security clearances substantiated their authority—that the treasonous Trump would likely be impeached, indicted, or quit.

The task was simple and at the same time a bit silly: Each of the 12 leading French candidates for European Parliament elections was to bring an object that symbolized Europe for them to the first TV debate. The conservative candidate with the Republican Party brought a copy of Homer´s "Odyssey;" the leftist politician Raphaël Glucksmann brought a piece of the Berlin Wall. Jordan Bardella, the lead candidate for Marine Le Pen´s right-wing populist Rassemblement National, held up a red kitchen sieve to the camera.

The Trump administration is proposing a new rule to try to block some 32,000 illegal immigrant-led families from claiming public housing assistance, saying it’s unfair to hundreds of thousands of Americans who are stuck on waiting lists. Housing and Urban Development notified Congress Wednesday of the new rule, kicking off a schedule of publication and notice and comment that could have the plan finalized later this summer.

Rush Limbaugh thinks Team Obama may be strategizing a Michelle Obama run for president in 2020. The radio host said Barack and Michelle are so ticked off that Trump won that they "want back in." Limbaugh cited Michelle´s extensive, never-ending book tour as a sign that the Obamas´ lust for power could result in the ever vicious and vengeful former first lady announcing her candidacy. This past Sunday, during another promotional interview for her book at London´s O2 arena, Mrs. Obama sounded an awful lot like what she sounded like in 2008.

President Trump’s nomination of Stephen Moore and Herman Cain (full disclosure, both are friends and Moore an occasional professional colleague) to the board of governors of the Federal Reserve has become something of a cause célèbre in Washington. Moore’s and Cain’s attackers outnumber their defenders. But their defenders have the better argument. The Cain/Moore mutiny of the Establishment is a perfect microcosm of the existential crisis of modernity. Canadian public intellectual John Raltson Saul called this persistent existential crisis, in his eponymous book, Voltaire’s Bastards. (Penguin Books, 1992.)

America’s founders enshrined property rights in our Constitution, not just because they thought it would provide a strong blueprint for a free market but because they saw ownership as an essential human right. Thus, the final draft of James Madison’s Fifth Amendment has no wiggle words or loopholes. It states unequivocally that private property shall not “be taken for public use, without just compensation.” And yet despite this clear guidance, courts are expanding what can be considered public use, steadily eroding protections in takings law.

When it comes to the drug pricing debate, it´s often easy to let the details obscure the heart of the issue. Even understanding the Trump administration´s newest proposal to bring down high drug prices requires understanding the supply chain at a considerable level of detail. However, when one takes a step back, the broader principles at play become easier to see. Government policies should enable the market to function, letting companies make more money when they offer a better product at a lower price.

No matter how much the general public abhors political correctness is higher education, the monitors of the Left continue to find methods of surveillance. Two Villanova professors described the latest development last week in the Wall Street Journal. It’s a revision to the course evaluation form that professors distribute to students at the end of the semester. Typical questions address workload, assignments, classroom management, grading, and the availability of the professor. But we now have an extra query. I’ve heard it floated before, but this is the first concrete implementation of which I am aware.

Hillary Clinton said Tuesday she believes Donald Trump would have been indicted in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe if he weren´t president, though stopped short of calling for his impeachment. Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president in 2016, he argued during a Q&A session in New York that Mueller’s report “could not be clearer” in making the case Trump tried to obstruct the Russia investigation -- even though Mueller did not come to an explicit conclusion on that question. “I think there’s enough there that any other person who had engaged in those acts would certainly have

Helen Meigs thinks about climate change. A lot. “It’s always in the back of my mind,” said the Macalester College sophomore. Concern about climate change isn’t rare on campus. In fact, she’s convinced it’s widespread. “My whole generation wonders if we’re getting cheated out of a full future, and we can’t put it out of our minds,” she said. “It’s an anxiety-inducing situation.” That anxiety has a name: climate grief. In 2017, the American Psychological Association recognized the complex mental health burden in people who have experienced losses from natural disasters associated with climate change. Pete Buttigieg opened up about his faith Monday night, expressing confidence that he will be able to unite many different groups of people because "God does not have a political party." During a CNN town hall in New Hampshire Monday, the South Bend, Indiana, mayor was asked how he planned to unite conservatives, moderates and liberal Christians. "It can be challenging to be a person of faith who´s also part of the LGBTQ community and yet, to me, the core of faith is regard for one another," Buttigieg said. "And part of God´s love is experienced, according to my faith

A Los Angeles road will officially be renamed in honor of former President Obama on May 4, City Councilman Herb Wesson announced Tuesday. Along with the unveiling of the road’s new name, the councilman will host a street festival with music performances, vendors and food trucks at the intersection of the new Obama Boulevard (currently Rodeo Road) and West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The name change was first suggested by Wesson in 2017. In his proposal, Wesson noted that Obama held a campaign rally at Rancho Cienega Sports Complex on Rodeo in 2007 when running for president. Hispanics have “legitimate fear” of the Trump administration and its quest to query Americans about their citizenship on the 2020 Census, Justice Sonia Sotomayor said Tuesday, as the Supreme Court debated whether President Trump has the power to add the question back in to the decennial count. The government’s lawyer, Solicitor General Noel Francisco, was less than two sentences into his argument when Justice Sotomayor pounced for the first time, keeping up a steady stream of questions suggesting Mr. Trump and his team invented reasons to ask about citizenship, and that Hispanics in particular will refuse to take part, souring

Former President Barack Obama and twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton were ripped for their failure to use the word "Christian" in their responses to the devastating attacks in Sri Lankan on Sunday, instead referring to those slaughtered as "Easter worshippers." (Video) Not only was it notable that Obama and Clinton both used the term "Easter worshipers" in their reactions, but it was highlighted that the politicos were sure to use the word "Muslim" in responses to the horrific slaughter of Muslims in a New Zealand mosque last month.Suicide bombers targeted churches and hotels on Sunday in Sri Lanka as Christians

There’s a concrete reason for Mayor de Blasio’s notion to ban New York city’s “classic glass and steel skyscrapers” — he’s got rocks in his head.Has any officeholder ever turned so viciously on his own town? De Blasio’s poisonous City Hall reign is distinguished by corruption, laziness and incompetence — but not by rank stupidity. Until today. He wants New York to be “first of any major city on the Earth” to make building owners “clean up your act .?.?. to save energy.”

MANCHESTER, N.H. — There are no policy positions on his website. He has virtually no paid presence in the states that matter most. And his campaign manager is a high school friend with no experience in presidential politics. This is the upstart campaign of Pete Buttigieg , the 37-year-old Indiana mayor who has suddenly become one of the hottest names in the Democrats’ presidential primary season. Yet there is an increasing urgency, inside and outside of the campaign, that his moment may pass if he doesn’t take swift action to build a national organization capable

Starbucks Corp.—recognizing it’s often a safe space for the most vulnerable visitors—has installed needle-disposal boxes in some locations. The coffee giant started adding the boxes in several U.S. markets this January after receiving requests from employees last year, a spokeswoman said. It will add them to any store where employees cite a need, she said. “We are always working with and listening to our partners for ways we can better support them when it comes to issues like these,” Starbucks said in an email, citing “scary situations” and a need to ensure its workers “are out of harm’s way.”
