Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Friday granted clemency to Tina Peters and made the former Republican county clerk eligible for release from state prison as soon as next month, capping months of speculation that the Democratic governor would shorten a nearly nine-year sentence related to Peters’ role in a scheme to breach secure voting equipment.
Polis announced Friday afternoon that he was shortening Peters’ sentence from eight years and nine months to four years and 4.5 months, making her eligible for parole on June 1. Peters is currently incarcerated at La Vista Correctional Facility in Pueblo.
Judge Matthew Barrett denied Tina Peters’ motion to disqualify him on Monday afternoon. In a 16-page order, he accepted every factual claim in the defense affidavits as true, then concluded none of them meet the legal standard for recusal. The bond question now sits on his desk under the 48-hour window Colorado Appellate Rule 9(b) sets for ruling on bond pending appeal. The defense’s reply on that motion, filed late Sunday night, set up the dispute that follows—a factual challenge to Barrett’s letter to the governor, and a procedural argument that the bond question is already heading to the Court.

Last month, 12-year-old Ava Little committed suicide. Apparently, she did so because she was being chronically bullied at Byron Middle School, Peach County, Ga.
According to Little’s family, none of the school’s anti-bullying measures or guidelines was implemented, even as “other students targeted her over and over again.” The bullying began in fifth grade and intensified this year. According to Paige Day, Ava’s aunt, her parent’s tried to get the school to intervene, but Peach schools were “consistently underwhelming. They failed her 100%.”

Insufferable NeverTrumper John Bolton has worked out a plea deal and will plead guilty to a single count of “illegal retention of sensitive national security documents,” reports far-left CNN.
Bolton was originally charged with “eight counts of transmission of national defense information and 10 counts of retention of national defense information.” A conviction on any of those counts would’ve meant serious jail time.
On this one count, although the penalty is up to five years in prison, the deal apparently comes with Bolton agreeing to plead guilty and pay a fine of $2.25 million without jail time. However, a judge could still sentence the 77-year-old to prison regardless of the plea agreement.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted 215-208 to end the war with Iran.
This is the first time the House has voted to stop Trump’s military action in Iran.
Four Republicans voted with the Democrats: Thomas Massie, Brian Fitzpatrick, Tom Barrett and Warren Davidson.
The resolution is likely dead on arrival in the Senate. If it passes the Senate, Trump will veto the resolution.
The Hill reported: House lawmakers on Wednesday passed legislation designed to force President Trump to end the Iran War, marking a victory for Democrats and the constitutional purists who say the conflict is illegal without explicit congressional approval.

Cardinal Robert McElroy stripped Monsignor Stephen Rossetti of his role as an exorcist for the Archdiocese of Washington on June 3, the archdiocese announced. It also severed every tie with Rossetti’s St. Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal, a Washington nonprofit he led. Rossetti is a priest of the Diocese of Syracuse, New York.
