Longtime "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley is out of the famed news program.
Pelley, who spent over 30 years at CBS News, has been fired from the company after a clash with new "60 Minutes" top producer Nick Bilton, Business Insider has confirmed.
"Your antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear," Bilton wrote in a memo to Pelley that was seen by Business Insider. "I therefore write on behalf of CBS News, Inc. to inform you that your employment with CBS is terminated for cause effective immediately."

Jerks like him don't think their job is to 'inform' Americans ... they think it is to tell Americans what to think. And I guess the owners and bosses too!

If 60 Minutes really wanted to do a better job for their audience, they would fire Lesley Stahl too. She adds nothing of value to the show.

Pelley thinks that he is irreplaceable and 60 Minutes will die a horrible death without liberals like him and his already terminated colleagues. 60 Minutes will survive with new, better hosts. CBS will survive with a better, hopefully rejuvenate, less liberally biased 60 Minutes; and the other journalists will have learned an important lesson: Get with the program or get out. Everyone is replaceable. There are lots of aspiring journalists just waiting to take your place.

This self-absorbed fathead thought he could brace his boss in a meeting and tell him he was incompetent. I’m surprised they waited a day to fire him. Good riddance.
Now, fire Lesley Stahl. And do away with “60 Minutes.”

Scott Pelley should re-read Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Ozymandias, a testatment to the hubris those n power often feel. As a journalist, I always found Pelley to be incredibly biased and his reporting-if you can call it that-was misleading. His MO was to shoehorn the Left's narratives into conversations and events, leading the audience instead of informing them. This stunt of his wasn't noble-he saw the writing on the wall and knew his days freely spounting leftwong propaganda were over, so he made a spectacle of himself (Ozymandias!) by criticizing his bosses in front of the whole staff. He made it about himself (Ozymandias again) and knew it would get him fired. Adios Pelley, thanks for ridding us from your smug self.

Mr. "Smug Pug" thought he was "too important" to be "let go," and he just found out that insubordination and outright mutiny in the workplace will put a cardboard box into one's hand faster than one can say, "Do you know who I am?" As I've been witness to over decades of employment, most any HR Department holds a very dim view of any open acts of defiance, being that it's about as corrosive as battery acid in any workplace. 'Smelly' Pelley will next find out that it's very tough to find as good a 'gig' as he had at CBS and "60 Minutes" and that it might have worked better for him had he simply acted more like a good employee, rather than elect himself to play the part of "Lt. Fletcher Christian" to Bari Weiss's role as, "Captain William Bligh" in the (very) public play, "Mutiny on the HMS CBS."
People who "stand on principle" in the workplace almost always find themselves making that "stand" on the "street" looking for future employment, almost never finding any better than that which they'd once had... just ask Don Lemon, or Dan Rather, or ...

Either he has a martyr complex or he has another gig lined up elsewhere.
Like Dan Rather before him, he will not be missed.
I look forward to a 60 minutes expose on Dem corruption.

Wah, wah, wah! Good riddance to bad rubbish. I think Pelley wanted to get fired, but notice, it said “for cause” in Bilton’s statement. Let’s see who gets hired to replace these losers. It would be nice to see if there were some way these super rich guys could buy the NY Times and clean out that den of slime.

This is great and shows CBS' determination to make real changes from living in liberal la la land. Weiss has stated that she wants both sides of the story told, not just the narrative. She has squashed stories that refuse to obtain comments from administration officials or provide contradictory well known facts that don't fit the liberal narrative.
Of course that's a problem for liberal reporters because if they can't fake things up, they have nothing to talk about.
CBS is in no danger of becoming a Conservative news source, but closer to neutral would be a good start. Hopefully the message gets through to the reporters, ANYONE can be let go so stop playing games.
Time will tell.

Now we will have to endure this clown's new martyr status and listen to him drone on about how he was persecuted for reporting the truth about Trump and conservatives.

Pelley had a very romanticized notion of what his job was. He was far from being an ‘independent journalist’. He was a corporate employee. What he did wasn’t journalism. It was performative. Other people created the stories he presented. His mistake was in thinking he was irreplaceable. No one is.

Every human relations department, including the CBS Human Relations Department, should have an internal form to be filled out whenever someone is terminated, with a list of possible reasons for termination and a box next to each that can be checked. In the case of Pelley, they would check the box next to "hubris."

#21: Reminds me of the great lines from the opening scenes in "The Outlaw Josey Wales".
Senator: "There's an old saying. To the victors go the spoils."
Fletcher: "There's another old saying, Senator. Don't whiz down my back and tell me it's raining!"
Pelley thought that his dung emitted no noticeable aroma. How wrong he was. If you ever want to get an idea of how insufferable and pompous he truly was, dial in his commencement speech from some college very recently. Talk about painful! I was sneaking a few swigs from a flask, and I wasn't even in the audience!

If the "60 Minutes" staff stood and gave Pelley a standing ovation after Bilton left the room, they all need to be fired and the show put on hiatus until a new staff can be hired.
