The United States Customs and Border Protection announced Monday the appointment of Rosario “Pete” Vasquez as the new Chief of U.S. Border Patrol.
The move comes after former Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks resigned last month to spend time with his family and return to his Texas ranch. Banks began serving in the post in January 2025.

In a May 2025 ruling, the Supreme Court allowed the “Hegseth policy” prohibiting members of the military from openly identifying as transgender, when a lower court attempted to stop it. The Federal Court of Appeals ruling on Monday, however, denied the Hegseth policy from removing current members of the service affected by gender dysphoria, according to ABC News.
Judge Robert Wilkins, an Obama appointee, and Judge Judith Rogers, a Clinton appointee, ruled that current transgender service members cannot be removed.

Cops on both sides of the US-Mexico border are investigating a sprawling underground passage uncovered in the Tijuana area that is believed to extend toward the US.
The tunnel was found Saturday in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood during a raid carried out by Mexican federal authorities with support from the Mexican Navy, according to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office.
Investigators said the hidden passage stretches roughly 869 feet and sits about 21 feet below ground, making it one of the more substantial cross-border tunnel discoveries in recent years. The underground route was uncovered after authorities executed a search warrant at a property in eastern Tijuana.

The Department of Justice on Friday asked Georgia federal judge Eleanor Ross to recuse herself from a pending case involving election records, citing media reports identifying Ross as the same judge who was disciplined for attending a victory party for a district attorney’s campaign.
The DOJ said that if Ross is that judge, “it creates the appearance of bias,” because the victory party would have been in May 2024 for Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who prosecuted President Donald Trump for an alleged conspiracy to overturn the results of his 2020 election loss in Georgia to former President Joe Biden.
Eleanor Ross is the federal district court judge who was subject to a private reprimand for having sex with a police officer in chambers in earshot of law clerks, according to a person familiar with the situation.

It’s been a rocky spring for President Donald Trump, at least as far as his favorability ratings go among voters. That’s the bad news. But there’s also good news for Trump: His ratings showed little change in the latest I&I/TIPP Poll, as he moves toward a deal with Iran that will reopen the Mideast’s oil spigots.

REalloys, a Florida-based rare earth materials company, has signed a 15-year offtake agreement with Critical Metals Corp. covering 15% of Phase 1 production from the Tanbreez project in southern Greenland.

At present, Katz has failed to live up to his title. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a letter to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's office submitting his resignation, London-based anti-regime outlet Iran International reported on Sunday.
An anonymous official told Iran International that the letter had called out the fact that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had effectively taken over large portions of the government, and that the president and other high-ranking officials had been cut out of vital decision-making.
