Tuesday’s California primary election results will answer one essential question: Is it bad enough yet? Are things bad enough for voters to cast their ballots for candidates who promise to make things better by reversing the crazy? That is what voters must decide before reelecting Karen Bass or elevating Xavier “My Turn” Becerra. Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton are there for the taking. Will either of these would-be problem solvers secure one of the top two spots in California’s “jungle” primary?

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Friday granted clemency to Tina Peters and made the former Republican county clerk eligible for release from state prison as soon as next month, capping months of speculation that the Democratic governor would shorten a nearly nine-year sentence related to Peters’ role in a scheme to breach secure voting equipment.
Polis announced Friday afternoon that he was shortening Peters’ sentence from eight years and nine months to four years and 4.5 months, making her eligible for parole on June 1. Peters is currently incarcerated at La Vista Correctional Facility in Pueblo.

Judge Matthew Barrett denied Tina Peters’ motion to disqualify him on Monday afternoon. In a 16-page order, he accepted every factual claim in the defense affidavits as true, then concluded none of them meet the legal standard for recusal. The bond question now sits on his desk under the 48-hour window Colorado Appellate Rule 9(b) sets for ruling on bond pending appeal. The defense’s reply on that motion, filed late Sunday night, set up the dispute that follows—a factual challenge to Barrett’s letter to the governor, and a procedural argument that the bond question is already heading to the Court.

Some thoughts and notes I recorded two decades ago may help explain why Trump became president...
As a writer, had I chosen to be an historian, I would have written a history of the West that showed how haters of Christ plotted from Year One to block the Voice of the Creator in human affairs. I would start by demolishing the myth that Christianity is a set of opinions of any person or group and show that Christianity is the best link in human endeavors to the source of our being, God—in simpler words, the best path to our physical and spiritual wellbeing.

Last month, 12-year-old Ava Little committed suicide. Apparently, she did so because she was being chronically bullied at Byron Middle School, Peach County, Ga.
According to Little’s family, none of the school’s anti-bullying measures or guidelines was implemented, even as “other students targeted her over and over again.” The bullying began in fifth grade and intensified this year. According to Paige Day, Ava’s aunt, her parent’s tried to get the school to intervene, but Peach schools were “consistently underwhelming. They failed her 100%.”

In 2023, the FBI arrested two Chinese-Americans, Lu Jianwang and Chen Jinping, for operating a Chinese police station in Manhattan. [snip]
What is concerning, however, is that this is not an isolated case of serious infiltration. Nor is such activity limited to the U.S. alone. Safeguard Defenders, a Madrid-based NGO, has identified 102 Chinese police stations in 53 countries.
The audacity of operating police stations in other countries highlights how far China is willing to go to silence critics as it seeks global dominance in economic, military, and cultural fields. This ability was not built overnight.

England, one of the world’s oldest nation-states, has long stood as a symbol of continuity, tradition, and cultural propriety. From the consolidation of the monarchy to the expansion of the British Empire, it helped shape Western civilization, anchored in Christian heritage and legal principles (Magna Carta). It also historically protected minority communities, including Jews, from persecution. Yet in the twenty-first century, England (and Britain) faces unprecedented internal crises—in governance, national identity, and cultural cohesion—that suggest, not just a period of transition but the possible unraveling of a once-cohesive civilization.

In the vast expanse of the Western Hemisphere, the Greenland saga is as old as American ambition itself. But in our latest chapter, the push to bring this Danish-held island into the American bay kicked off in earnest back in August 2019, when President Trump’s first administration floated the idea of purchasing that frozen strategic gem. It wasn’t some whim; it was a calculated step at securing our future.
Let’s be clear: Trump’s vision for Greenland isn’t pie-in-the-sky fantasy. Like it or lump it, his insistence that it’s vital to U.S. national security rings true, backed by cold, hard history. Flash back to April 9, 1940, when Hitler’s forces...

Donald Trump’s determination to bring Greenland under American control has been widely mocked as eccentric or theatrical. That reaction misses the point. Beneath the blunt language and headline-grabbing delivery lies a strategic argument rooted in geography, military physics, alliance realities, and the accelerating competition among global powers in the Arctic. Trump’s fixation on Greenland is not a whim. It is the product of a long-running belief that the island represents one of the most valuable pieces of territory on Earth for American security. Failing to secure it would amount to a historic act of negligence.

For a brief, shining moment in 1945, the United States stood astride the world like a colossus. In four years, we had built the greatest military machine in human history, liberated half the planet, and dropped the sun itself on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to prove the point. Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, and imperial Japan (three empires that had terrorized the globe) lay in smoking ruins. The message was unmistakable...[Snip] What we are living through in 2025 is not a series of unrelated crises; it is the culmination of an eighty-year campaign to hollow out the greatest republic the world has ever known.

Zohran Mamadani’s stunning victory as the newly elected mayor of New York was salt poured in the open wound of an even more titanic blue wave that swept aside any hopes that the nation had turned back to traditional sanity. He’s an old-school communist who made no effort to cloak his Marxist bona fides behind the charade of democratic socialism, and secured a victory that we could see coming from a mile away.
It's a turning point for the nation as a disciple of the deadliest ideology the modern world has ever known is empowered to beset this terror upon Americans [snip].
Which begs the question, how did he do it?
Comments:
Gov. Polis gets himself, S-o-S Griswold, AG Weiser, and Colorado judicial off the hook. Including lefty district judge Matthew Barrett. This is how the Colorado dims fix a wrong. But I'm most happy for Peters that she will soon be free. Sitting in that hell hole gulag in La Vista was not pleasant.
