The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is likely to hold a vote or vote on a resolution on the Strait of Hormuz as early as Friday, April 3.
"The proposed resolution will authorize member states to use "all necessary and appropriate means of defense in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, including in the territorial waters of coastal states within or bordering the Strait of Hormuz," said Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on Thursday, quoted by Antara via Sputnik-RIA Novosti.
According to him, the effort is to secure transit routes and prevent attempts to close, block, or disrupt international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George is retiring “effective immediately,” a Pentagon official announced Thursday amid reports War Secretary Pete Hegseth asked the high-ranking military officer to step down.
“The Department of War is grateful for General George’s decades of service to our nation,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell wrote on X.
“We wish him well in his retirement,” he added. George, 61, was nominated by former President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate for the Army chief of staff post in 2023. The Army chief of staff typically serves a four-year term.
Hegseth reportedly wanted someone in the role who would implement the vision he and President Trump

The Rutherford County Library Board in Tennessee fired its top librarian for refusing to move LBGTQ books out of the children’s section.
The board voted 8-3 Monday to fire library system director Luanne James after she said she would not move more than 100 LGBTQ books from the children to the adult’s section, The Associated Press reported. The board voted earlier this month to move the books, saying they cause “gender confusion” for young children, especially those going through puberty.
“Follow the law,” a Rutherford County school board member said when speaking in favor of moving the books “Protect the children. Hold the line.”

Now, more than 80 years after the end of the Nazi dictatorship, anyone can click through millions of index cards in the US National Archives without registering, and search for the names of their own grandparents and great-grandparents. The data contains information on 6.6 million Germans who were members of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) until 1945, stored on more than 5,000 digitized microfilm reels.
But the records are incomplete: According to the German Historical Museum, in 1945 "one in five adult Germans was one of a total of 8.5 million party members" and thus, at least on paper, supported the fascist regime.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., is threatening legal action against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as it reportedly considers releasing potentially damaging files just weeks before he faces voters in California’s wide-open gubernatorial race. Lawyers for Swalwell sent a cease-and-desist letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, warning the bureau would violate federal privacy law if it moves ahead with releasing records regarding the congressman’s decade-old relationship with a suspected Chinese spy named Christine "Fang Fang" Fang.
"[Y]our attempt to release the file is a transparent attempt to smear him and undermine his campaign for Governor of California," Swalwell’s attorneys

An African nation is calling for Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., to be extradited after Vice President JD Vance claimed during an interview that the lawmaker committed immigration fraud. The Republic of Somaliland, a partially recognized state in the Horn of Africa, reacted in a post on X to the claim that Vance made in a podcast interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson.
"Deportation? Please you’re just sending the princess back to her kingdom. Extradition? Say the word …" the post read.

Maryland Del. Kathy Szeliga, R-Baltimore County, is calling out Maryland Democrats for backing a bill that would stock tampons in men’s bathrooms in state-owned buildings — an idea she says is emblematic of Annapolis’ misplaced priorities. Szeliga said that after she was made aware of HB 941, she took to the House floor to question which public buildings would be impacted. In particular, she wanted to know if the state's professional sports facilities, such as where the Ravens and Orioles play, would be impacted. During her remarks, the GOP Maryland lawmaker also questioned language in the bill ordering "appropriately sized tampons"

On March 17, Ilya Remeslo, a blogger, lawyer and former member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, posted a sensational "manifesto" entitled "Five reasons why I stopped supporting Vladimir Putin" on his Telegram channel. He said the war against Ukraine was "failing" and also criticized online censorship and the lack of freedom of speech.
Remeslo went on to argue that the Russian president had been in power for too long and was apparently planning to "remain on the throne for at least 150 years." He also described Putin's press conferences as a "circus" and concluded by saying that he was not a legitimate president: "Putin must resign

Democrats who want to defund ICE aren’t getting away with the political hostage-taking they’re using to do it.
They’re trying to hold the Transportation Security Administration’s funding hostage until their demands for weakening Immigration and Customs Enforcement are met.
That means they’re also subjecting millions of air travelers to added anxiety, and worse, as security-line wait times stretch into hours.

Leftists from around the world descended on Cuba over the weekend for a “humanitarian” trip aimed at protesting the United States’ oil blockade, and they played the role of useful idiots perfectly. Nothing says solidarity like going to an impoverished country and staying at a five-star hotel.
Hundreds of delegates from dozens of countries brought several tons of food, medicine and other supplies to the island, which is struggling through an energy crisis. The best way to help the Cuban people, of course, would be to free them from a dictatorship that has failed to meet their needs for more than half a century. Yet the roster of attendees was more

President Trump is clear: Long-standing threats like the one emanating from the Iranian regime cannot be managed indefinitely. At some point, they must be confronted directly. That moment has arrived.
The region is under attack. Missiles and drones are targeting infrastructure, economies, and civilian life.
But this is not a story of a region breaking. It is a story of a region proving the resilience of what it has built.
Because what is being tested right now is not just security. It is the economic and strategic model the Gulf has spent years, and in some cases decades, building. And under pressure, it is holding up remarkably well.

So Prince William is a good Anglican after all. He has told the Times, through an aide, of his commitment to the Church, on the eve of attending the installation of the new Archbishop of Canterbury. But does he consider himself a Christian believer? The statement awkwardly dances around that question. It leaves the impression that he does not really consider himself a Christian, but knows that he must keep this semi-veiled. The statement is difficult to analyse because the words are not quite his. They come from an aide; he presumably signed them off, but there is an air of vagueness and deniability in such a not-quite-statement.
