We focus a lot on the various forces of Islamic terrorism around the world, and that's justified; there are far too many jihadi goblins out there. But once in a while we are reminded that we have our own, home-grown nutjobs, too. One such is one Dawson Noah Maloney, who sent himself to his own just desserts after an aborted attack on a Las Vegas-area power substation.(snip) Oddly, the attempted attack was allegedly carried out by someone who had driven all the way from New York, which is curious in itself. Why come all that way? Why Las Vegas?

Hmmmm. Someone deliberately damaged a power substation near Des Moines Iowa about 2 weeks ago. 3 weeks ago the eastern suburbs of Denver had a power failure affecting nearly 200,000 people. Cause was a mysterious transformer failure. News media had little interest in following up on either event.

A total nutcase. Goes in like he's ready for war....bumps into a couple of 100 lb cable reels about 2 ft in diameter, cracks his bumper.....no body shows up, so he blows his brains out without using anything he brought and doing any significant damage exept busting a gate and his own bumper....and brains all over the car, probably. Shoulda stayed home and checked out in his own back yard.

Schizophrenia. Many years ago I interviewed a schizophrenic patient who had been arrested outside an Air Force base in California. He claimed he had a message for the Base commander and had traveled from Philadelphia by airplane by writing a bad check for the airfare. He was delusional. Maybe we should "harden" critical electrical substations, at least enough so that a nutcase can't just drive up and bust in?

This week, former Obama advisor and current Netflix board member Susan Rice pulled back the curtain on what Democrats plan to do once they’re back in power, and it was pretty fascist. On Preet Bharara’s podcast, Obama’s scandal-scarred former U.N. ambassador promised that any corporation, law firm, university, or media outlet that “took a knee to Trump” will be targeted when the left is back in charge. “It’s not gonna end well for them,” she warned, casting basic engagement with the Trump administration as a kind of original sin that must be punished. And now President Donald Trump wants accountability. On Saturday, Trump called on Netflix to fire Rice.

The memo puts an end to any rumors or partisan talking points; internal emails and memos outline briefings, coordination, and presidential approval before federal agents entered Trump's home. In January 2022, the National Archives and Records Administration received 15 boxes of presidential materials from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Staff members found documents bearing classified markings, and requested additional materials from Trump's team. Archivist officials believed more records remained at the property. According to reports, radical organizations are organizing a demonstration at the site on April 11 under the slogan “Keffiyehs in Buchenwald,” accusing the memorial’s management of “spreading Israeli propaganda” and not being “hostile enough toward Israel.” Among the groups involved are the student wing of Germany’s Left Party, the anti-Israel group Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East, and the German Communist Party.
