California’s already sky-high gas prices are expected to surge after Valero abruptly shuttered its Benicia refinery amid a spiraling “oil crisis,” a new report claims.
The Benicia refinery began shutting down on Saturday, four months earlier than planned, a former Valero manager told the California Globe Tuesday. Thermal imaging showed the facility went cold as the Crimson Pipeline – which transports crude oil from Southern to Northern California – was also taken offline.
“We are in an unprecedented oil crisis,” oil expert Mike Ariza told the publication.
Valero Energy Corp. announced its plans last spring to pull the plug on its 145,000-barrel-per-day refinery by April,

The Kalifornia socialists In Sacramento are entirely the cause of this oil crisis. There is no where else to find blame. If free market capitalism is allowed to thrive unfettered, we would all be enjoying cheap, affordable gas! There is no shortage of oil!

The Californicators have soiled their own nest by continuing to look to democrats for leadership. Unfortunately, it appears that the smart republicans from that state are leaving or have already left. Has the tipping point been reached?

The FAFO result of Leftist policy. This outcome is the logical and predicted destination of their sanctimonious policies.
The cruel and humorous irony is that, at the same time, the certitude of their reasoning about why they needed to kill the oil industry is crumbling. The boogey man of "warming" is now being admitted as, at worst, a manageable annoyance instead of an existential threat.
Both their definition of the "problem" and their "solution" are being exposed as incompetent thinking. And all the finger pointing blame they cast has been shown to have been unjustified.
The result is going to be well deserved suffering in Kalifornia. It's great that industry, people, and wealth are fleeing the state. Let's hope they don't bring their Leftism with them when they leave.

My son and I were in Tucson a few years ago, staying in a motel before our flight home the next day. We had turned in our rental car and wanted to go downtown and have a nice meal. Called a Uber. The driver was a nice black guy and told us he had moved from San Diego because even with him and his wife both working, they couldn't afford the cost of living. Some of the billionaires and millionaires might be able to stay and enjoy the beautiful state and weather, including the Hollywood types, but if middle-class families are leaving, the state is heading into what pilots call the 'graveyard spiral'.

It is evident that Ca planned to external its gas production to other states as ithey shuttered their instate refineries. Problem with that is…Ca requires their own special blend. Special blends cost more to make, especially when a us-standard blend refinery has to reconfigure to make Ca blend. This, and transportation, will raise fuel prices in Ca…and l expect the non-Ca refineries will be well rewarded for their efforts

California is double timing the public. They decry the evil oil companies while intentionally pushing them out. Remember the 15 minute cities and the High-Speed Rail system they started decades ago?

Isn’t it strange how all sorts of policies are making the Golden State, perhaps the most beautiful state with the most hospitable climate in the USA (and that’s saying something), unlivable? It’s almost like it’s being emptied on purpose. Why would that be? Could there be anyone else who would like that space? I’m thinking maybe native Americans but they never get much of anything from the policy makers so probably not. Mexico? China? Buehler?

I paid $2.29/gal. yesterday, up from $2.19 a week ago. Guess the crisis is affecting us here in S. Louisiana also. But next week, it will most likely be back down, as it cycles constantly.

Ouch! I wish I could drive out to Louisiana for that, as San Francisco has had prices over $4.50 for years.

Things are a bit weird here in my northern California mountain town. This week gas was down from last week's $4.49 to $4.29. A month ago we hit a high of $4.99/gallon. Plus, I used a pump that wasn't working properly. As I started the pump, the price on the display read "$3.63", but there was also an "error message" on the screen as well. When I went back to the cashier to get my change, I told the guy about the pump price and the error message. He seemed unconcerned. So, yesterday instead of spending $50 for a fill-up, it was only $36 and change. Woo-hoo!
TK and I have too much invested in the homestead to move at this point in our lives. Besides we have our solar system and are off the grid. We also have our own well. We store about 40 gallons of gas. I sure wish I had the empty cans with me yesterday on that "error" pump!

Newscum can't blame this one on Trump or te GOP. This was 100%, no-doubt-about-it, self inflicted. If this guy still thinks he's got a shot in 2028 then I'd love to know what he is smoking.

California regulations working precisely as intended. They INTEND and PLAN to make gasoline so rare and expensive that no one can afford to own and operate a gasoline powered car.
They found that they couldn't mandate buying only EVs....so they decided to make a gasoline tank fillup cost $1,000. Well in their way.
And yet, the majority will still vote Dem.
Or do the majority actually vote Dem? How many ILLEGAL votes get the Dems into power in California? Is there any possible way to force the state to stop letting illegal aliens and dead people vote endlessly?
Seems almost impossible once they have completely corrupted the entire voting system, top to bottom.

Some of the rationale for high gas prices in CA has always been that the oil pipelines serving the rest of the country don't cross the Rocky Mountains, so how is it that gas is much cheaper in Nevada?

Newsom isn't just unconcerned -- he acttually wants it. He wants to shift everything so much to electric cars that we can't turn back. Until after our whole economy tanks, that is.
