FORT PIERCE, Fla.—A federal judge on Feb. 4 sentenced Ryan Routh to life in prison for attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump.
Routh was also sentenced to seven years behind bars on a gun charge. He also received a $500 fine.
The sentencing hearing came months after Routh, 59, attempted to stab himself in U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon’s courtroom following a guilty verdict on multiple counts.
Federal prosecutors said in a court filing that a life sentence was appropriate given what they described as months of deliberate planning and a clear intent to kill.
“He took steps over the course of months to assassinate a major presidential candidate, demonstrated

A University of Minnesota student group has emerged as a leader behind illegal—and sometimes violent—anti-ICE agitation gripping Minneapolis. It's a significant shift for the school's Students for a Democratic Society chapter, which roughly one year ago stormed a campus building in an anti-Israel raid, trapping employees inside and causing tens of thousands of dollars in property damage.
The group, known as UMN SDS, organized a Jan. 28 protest outside a hotel located on campus that was allegedly housing ICE agents. Dozens of agitators swarmed the Graduate by Hilton and rocked police barricades, pounded on drums and pans, set off noisemakers, and shouted "F**k ICE" at local and state law enforcement.

The Left’s fervent anti-ICE rhetoric continues to rain down, even though it’s incited progressives around the nation to commit acts of violence — or get caught in deadly incidents themselves, like Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Each day, you think they can’t get any worse, not after miscreants like Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz continue to liken Trump administration officials to Nazis and compare ICE agents to Third Reich SS forces.
Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler (NY-12), though, wants to get some publicity of his own, and on Tuesday, he laid out a disturbing scenario where it would be totally justified for

Grady Demond Wilson, the actor best known for playing Lamont Sanford on the popular 1970s series "Sanford and Son," has died at his home in California, according to The New York Times. He was 79.
His son, Christopher Wilson, said his father had prostate cancer.
"Sanford and Son" premiered on NBC in January 1972 and starred comedian Redd Foxx, who played sharp-tongued junk dealer Fred Sanford.
But Wilson’s Lamont provided the show’s emotional backbone, a frustrated, quick-tempered son constantly at odds with his father while keeping their messy world from collapsing.

In a brief video clip that resurfaced on Saturday and quickly went viral, Boston’s far-left Mayor Michelle Wu summed up what no doubt many of her fellow leftists take to be axiomatically true. If it even came close to being implemented, it would destroy the United States utterly, but after all, what do leftists care about preserving what they think of as a racist, imperialist entity existing on stolen land? And so as far as they’re concerned, the destruction of the nation wouldn’t be a bug, but a feature.
In the clip, which actually dates from March 2025 but which Mass Daily News reposted on X Saturday, quickly racking up

During Thursday's cabinet meeting, Donald Trump mentioned that he'd spoken with his little Venezuelan pawn, "acting President" Delcy Rodríguez, and that the call had gone well. We later found out that they talked for a quite a while, at least half an hour, and that both Trump and Marco Rubio were on the phone.
The actions that have followed in the few days since sort of give you an idea of exactly how that phone call went down. I'm guessing Trump may have reminded her that there could easily be a "second wave."
First of all, Ms. Delcy has dialed down her rhetoric.

Sha'Carri Richardson, an Olympic gold medalist and one of the world's fastest women on the track, was arrested Thursday in Florida and accused of driving over 100 mph, according to jail booking records. Richardson, 25, was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding at 100 mph or more, records showed.
Bond was set at $500.
USA Track and Field and a representative for Richardson did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Richardson is a titan in the arena, having won silver in the 100 meters and gold in the 4x100-meter relay at

Dear Patriot,
Our ask is simple: Help us stand with ICE.
The men and women of ICE who are arresting and deporting dangerous illegals across the country need our support now more than ever before.
With the left-wing media and Democratic politicians calling ICE President Trump’s “Gestapo,” “Nazis,” “the SS,” “fascists,” and more, the truth needs to be told about who’s really creating the chaos and mayhem in Democrat-run sanctuary cities and who’s trying to keep the public safe.
The radical Left’s dangerous rhetoric has now resulted in the deaths of two Americans. Due to Democratic politicians and their lapdogs in the media lying about the mission,

First came the tolling of bells: the First Church of Boston, then the Second Church, then smaller ones joining in, the sound rolling through Boston like a summons. The streets cleared quickly, barefoot boys darting to claim the best vantage points. It was summer, and the air stank of old straw laid down to soak up urine and horse droppings, mixed with the sharp tang of fresh fish hauled in from the harbor that morning. Inside inns and taverns, conversations fell away as people shifted toward windows mysteriously clean for the first time in weeks.
British officers and soldiers quieted. Something was happening, and they didn't think they'd like it.

A Minnesota grand jury indicted nine defendants in the Cities Church riot. The indictment was unsealed yesterday. I posted a copy here. All defendants are charged with violation of the law against conspiracy to violate the civil rights of third parties and with violation of the FACE Act. The indictment specifies the statutory provisions in issue.
Two of the defendants are journalists: Don Lemon and Georgia Fort. The fog machine at the Star Tribune is working overtime to obscure the issue raised by their alleged illegal misconduct. Assuming they committed the misconduct in issue, does the First Amendment shield them from the law? In other words, do they have a First

Next Monday is Groundhog Day, but it needs updating. No, not because the PETA lunatics want us to replace Punxsutawney Phil with a hologram (see Section 3 below), but because there are other persistent things for which the groundhog indicator could be redeployed. Like ICE protests, because it is the categorical imperative of the Omnicause that protests must go on no matter how cold the weather. Or like Sydney Sweeney. If the groundhog spots Sweeney’s new lingerie line hanging on the Hollywood sign, it means at least six more weeks of Sweeney in the news. As our pal RS says sagely, if Sweeney doesn’t win all the

House Republicans just dropped what might be the most important piece of legislation of our lifetimes. The Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act hit the floor on Thursday, and it's a full-throttle effort to secure elections in ways Democrats have long fought against.
For starters, the MEGA Act would require a photo ID to vote and mandate proof of citizenship to register nationwide. The bill also directly targets practices that became major flashpoints in 2020 that undermined confidence in the 2020 election. This legislation mandates that mail-in ballots must arrive by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted, with one exception for military personnel overseas.
