The Washington National Opera (WNO) is taking its final bow and leaving the Trump-Kennedy Center in what one WNO director called the “takeover” of the institution by President Donald Trump.
“Today, the Washington National Opera announced its decision to seek an amicable early termination of its affiliation agreement with the Kennedy Center and resume operations as a fully independent nonprofit entity,” the opera said in a statement to the New York Times.
The company said its board of trustees voted to move all its upcoming performances out of the center’s 2,364-seat Opera House. They intend to find new locations in Washington, DC, but no leases have yet been signed.

Oh no! Not the Opera. Soon the liberal abandonment of the Trump Kennedy Center might lead to Trump suggesting that it be torn down and rebuilt as something that normal people could attend. How about a pro football stadium. Maybe an arena for pro wrestling WWE type. Even a NASCAR track. All would be more enjoyable and attended than the junk from the alleged artists boycotting the current venue. Plus we get the benefits of liberal heads exploding everything there is an event.

Why should conservatives have had to finance the Kennedy Center. At least now, conservatives get some shows they can watch.

Arrogant Fools!
But.... entertainment 'stars' are often notoriously arrogant and prone to fits of childish selfishness. Opera singers in particular often suffer from a 'Prima donna' syndrome.
I am not surprised.
I wonder..... how well attended are any opera performances in Washington DC?

Well considering the abysmal quality of modern opera, no one will miss much. Bad opera doesn't make money and 90% of what is out there is bad opera.
If I have to sit through another minimalist, modern take on a classic piece from the repertoire but all bathed in shades of gray and brown and everyone wearing sack cloth dresses (even the men) with little to no lighting, no staging, no acting, I will puke.
And don't get me started on modern operas most of which have the charm and delicacy of hocked up ball of phlegm.
The last good Opera I saw was a full blown, no holds barred classical take on Aida. It was a glorious spectacle. Grand on all fronts. NOW THAT was opera. The house was packed to the rafters too.

Word has it that they will invite Trump to an exclusive one-time production of "Our American Cousin."

They would rather perform in a dump than in a refurbed and upgraded facility that POTUS Trump brought back from its former trashy state. What insanity must inhabit the artistic mind!

Not just opera turned bad.
Last time I went to Shakespeare rendition they "made it their own" and turned it into some oddball pseudo Japanese style all black staged no set uh thing.
Just shut it all down.

The WNO is having financial problems, ticket sales weren't covering the cost of the productions, and the WNO was not meeting its financial commitments to the Trump-Kennedy Center. The Center has taken steps to improve finances, and one of the ways is to expect performers to meet their financial commitments. It isn't a charity and shouldn't be expected to allow marginal groups to perform there for free.

Adios . Why don't you look for a place for the Opera in Anacostia or North east across the river.

This is otherwise known as, "self-destruction." Where are they going to be singing? The local VFW Hall?
Don't they have nearby resident "patrons" whom they must please with occasional performances? Can the leftist billionaire class fork over the money to build the Soros-Steyer (SS) Opera House?
