Raffensperger Says 2020 Election Blunder
"Does Not Erase Votes" Despite Over 300k
Questionable Votes

Original Article

Nearly two weeks after the December meeting of the Georgia State Election Board, some continue to claim Fulton County was fraudulent because tabulation tapes were not signed that included 315,000 votes. Five years after the 2020 election, challenges continue despite multiple audits. (snip) Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger addressed the accusations in a social media post. "Georgia has the most secure elections in the country and all voters were verified with photo ID and lawfully cast their ballots. A clerical error at the end of the day does not erase valid, legal votes," Raffensperger said.

Comments:

The "some continue to claim" framing by Georgia's chief elections officer (repeated as fact in the body of the article but not its headline) is astonishing. Certification of these tapes is not merely clerical because it guarantees that the machine began the day at zero and stopped adding votes the moment actual voting ended. Including these uncertified figures in the state's popular vote totals was therefore clearly illegal and Donald Trump was the actual winner of Georgia's electoral votes.

One could also logically infer that both current Ga senators received the majority of these fraudulent ballots and are therefore illegitimately elected. Invalidate the election and remove these frauds from office. No pension, no nothing. Force Ga to hold another election for senators only.

What a dope. Every one of those 315,000 illegitimate "early votes" disenfranchised the legitimate votes of 315,00 living, breathing people... and notice that I didn't mention for whom the living voted. I don't live in GA, but I implore Republicans to primary this clown. Were I there and faced a choice of Raffensperger or Stacey Abrams on a general election ballot, I would write in some fictional name like Rhett Butler, because I just wouldn't give a damn.

Re #4, had Raffensperger done his job those uncertified totals would never have been included in the final vote count. The only reason he survived the last Republican primary and continues to warm the Secretary of State's chair today is that a large number of Democrats crossed over to reward him for delivering Georgia's electoral votes to Biden. He likely hopes that Democrats will hand him the Republican gubernatorial nomination next year as well.

I know some say "math is hard" but I don't think it's too difficult to state counting 315,000 ballots that did not meet the state standard of having signature verified ended up padding the ballots that were processed. I still would like to see every ballot have a sequential number applied and be associated with the voter registration list. That they announce publicly how many registered voters at least 90 days prior to any ballot being sent out by mail. All registrations after that announcement would be provisional, until verified and certified. Same with all ballot collection boxes - all would have tracking device and a number posted to help remove the "lost boxes" suddenly discovered. Any drop box would have ATM-style technology - camera, date/time stamp and only 1 ballot inserted at a time (no more large bundles dropped in at 3 am). None of this would infringe on anyone casting a legal ballot. The imperative should be to ensure legal voters aren't disenfranchised (remember when Democrats were so concerned by this in certain communities just a few years ago?).

The missing signatures does not mean that all 315,000 votes were fraudulent. But, it DOES mean that all 315,000 votes failed to meet the legal standard required for certification. Now... put yourself in Raffensperger's shoes... you learn that these votes had a set of signatures missing. Do you TOSS all of those votes out, knowing that the vast majority were very likely legitimate votes that were the subject of clerical errors? Do you have another election? It is easy to say 'they should not count' but you and I both know that most, if not all, of these votes were properly cast but improperly handled thereafter. It is not easy to actually remediate this mess.

"Do you TOSS all of those votes out, knowing that the vast majority were very likely legitimate votes that were the subject of clerical errors? Do you have another election?" YES there were invalid votes that exceeded by 26 Times the margin of decision, which is exactly what Trump was demanding, a "Finding" that over 11,800 votes could not be certified, voiding the election, thus, by Law, it would need to be reheld. Which was NO BIG DEAL as a special election was already scheduled to be held in the state, the ballots for THAT election just needed to be printed to include all candidates/offices of the 1st election, instead of Single Race which was already scheduled. Trump was not asking for "Votes for HIM to be Found" he was asking that a "Finding" of invalidate-able votes being cast/counted exceeding the margin be made...which under Georgia law invalidates the election, it is declared null/void, and a new election must be held. They asked the same thing in Wisconsin and elswhere...Courts refused the cases, the ballots were used to establish slates of electors which were being challenged one by one on Jan 6th...where for the 1st time the evidence of unverifiable votes was being presented to an adjudicating authority, in this case the Congress...The peoples "Revolt" at the Capitol cut that short, stopped the process, and when Congress reconvened they by passed to contestation of each tranch and certified them all...Once the slate of electors has been accepted? It's over, the election is done. Wisc. Legislature later looked at the facts, declared their own election null/void, uncertifiable, as did their Supreme Court...but it doesn't reverse the outcome at that point. At least 10 other states affirmed via their legislatures/Courts that what took place in those states in 2020 was NOT "Lawful" and could never be repeated. There is no way to "Overturn" the election of 2020, there IS a need for a massive astarisk for it in the history books and election Laws. Ga/Wisc/Az were all under 1% margins, with later findings of "Invalid" votes in excess of those margins.

The certification rules exist to minimize doubts about election integrity. By ignoring them, Georgia has cast doubt about their ability to support a fair election. This happened all over the country in 2020 and continues to. Republicans have been locked out of ballot review in dem controlled districts. Who knows what the outcome of those votes really was. What is clear is that the number of uncertified votes was sufficient to change the result of the election. What we need is new federal laws that outline the requirements for a fair election and stringent punishments for failure to comply. We need to make the cost of sloppy or deliberate election procedural failures so high that no one can afford to do it. The reality is, we cannot fix these problems in real time. Irregularities discovered at the time of the election cannot be fixed. We can't wait months for the results to be sorted out. But maybe, for example, it Fulton county was subject to Federal observation teams and control (improper validation voids the vote, period) for 3 years after they do this type of fraud, they would stop doing it. We would know the most egregious violators are being watched for a while.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's downplaying of a 2020 election blunder as a mere "clerical error" has done little to quiet a growing backlash within his own party.
