Comments:

I wondered why EVs were stranded until I saw they were shut down (from somewhere) because they rely on traffic signals.
Is there anyone who hasn't, encountered an inoperative traffic signal? What happens then? Just hope you're not stranded at the corner of Malcolm X Drive and MLK Blvd.

Since when are "self driving cars" any sort of "vital transportation"? You couldn't get me into one of those death traps except at gunpoint.

Western civilization arose in Greece in the 8th century BC, when some 1,500 city-states emerged from a murky, illiterate, 400-year Dark Age. That chaos followed the utter collapse of the palatial culture of Mycenaean Greece. But what re-emerged were constitutional government, rationalism, liberty, freedom of expression, self-critique and free markets — what we know now as the foundation of a unique Western civilization.[snip] From the Atlantic to the Persian Gulf and from the Rhine and Danube to the Sahara were a million square miles of safety, prosperity, progress and science — until the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century AD.

In recent years, the Democrat party has steadily shifted left, embracing ideas once considered fringe, including open borders, transgenderism, and the Green New Deal. In abandoning the political center to Trump and his MAGA base, Democrats effectively cost themselves the House in 2022 — and the presidency and Senate in 2024. Rather than recalibrating in anticipation of the looming 2026 midterms and 2028 presidential race, today’s Democrats have accelerated their embrace of far-left ideology, blending with socialist movements — particularly the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

When it comes to hit jobs, the 10,000-word Vanity Fair spread on Susie Wiles is a classic of the genre. Chris Whipple, a veteran journalist, producer and author with a career spanning the constellation of left-wing media — CBS’s “60 Minutes,” ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, Politico, The Daily Beast, The New York Times, The Washington Post — has craftily framed the president’s chief of staff in a narrative of typical Trump-derangement fantasies. The wonder is that she let him do it. And there’s no doubt she did. Washington journalism veteran Mark Halperin on his 2WAY podcast says Wiles may have thought the 11 interviews Whipple said she did this year were off the record.

Huang Yisong, 54, crossed the US-Mexico border in 2023 and was released under Biden administration policies, eventually ending up in Brooklyn and snagging a commercial driver’s license from the state, federal homeland security and transportation officials said. “Far too many innocent Americans have been killed by illegal aliens driving semi-trucks and big rigs,” Homeland Security Secretary Kirsti Noem said in a statement to The Post.

Do you know what a “neopronoun” or a “xeopronoun” is? The teachers’ unions want to make sure your little kids do. Earlier this month, the National Education Association held an “Advancing LGBTQ+ Justice” event. Documents obtained by the education watchdog group Defending Education (full disclosure: I am on the group’s board) contained slides illustrating these neo- and xeopronouns. Neopronouns are “new” “pronouns” such as “xe/xem/xyr,” and other letters randomly shoved together. Xeopronouns are for “conceptual identities” such as “cat/cats/catself.” Got it? No? But our kids are being force-fed this garbage in America’s public schools.

The Bondi Beach attack in Australia was shocking, but not at all surprising. Some of the details were distinctive — an idyllic spot on the Pacific Ocean instantly turned into a killing field; a father-son terror squad — but the basic picture of radicalized Muslim immigrants targeting a gathering of Jews was drearily familiar. These events follow the same pattern because the fundamentalist version of Islam is, at its root, hostile to Jews. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that there was a refugee flow of Unitarians, and some proportion of those Unitarians were antagonistic to traditional Christians — such that they vandalized their businesses, harassed them in the streets,

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has agreed to hold elections if there is a ceasefire. However, eastern Ukraine citizens, those currently living in the Donbas region, who are supportive of Russia, will not be permitted to vote. This creates a rather bizarre official hypocrisy within the Zelenskyy regime. The official position of Zelenskyy is that Eastern Ukraine will never be accepted as a part of the Russian federation. Zelenskyy has recently noted, with EU leadership support, that his government will never recognize Eastern Ukraine as part of the Russian federation. However, this same region, approximately 20% of Ukraine, will not be permitted to participate in his controlled election.
