Afghanistan’s Taliban made a 13-year-old carry out a public execution in front of thousands of onlookers, shooting a man who had killed more than a dozen members of the boy’s family.
An estimated 80,000 people gathered at a sports stadium in the southeastern province of Khost to witness the horrific spectacle, condemned by the UN as “inhuman and cruel”.
The convicted murderer, called Mangal, and two others had been found guilty of killing 13 members of the teenager’s family, including several children and women.
The killer was sentenced to ‘Qisas’ - a retaliation punishment under Sharia law similar to the Biblical principle of ‘an eye for an eye’. The Supreme Court said

People must be taught to be civilized. They did not need 80000 spectators. They did not need a family member (a minor!) carrying out the execution.
That being said, if what is being reported is accurate, justice was harsh, swift, and justified.

Swift justice is always preferable. But the community of world nations does not do it that way in the 21st century. But that’s what these savages do, while they are not blackmailing refugees in our country to murder our security personnel!

Maybe the past State of Minnesota, that could well become named New Somalia in the future, will then be prone to emulate such Somalian execution practices, as there are already enough native Somalians there to fill an 80,000 sports stadium.

The executed murderer was one of three men who slaughtered 13 of the shooter's family, including several women and children, according to this piece.
I wish there was some explanatory notes here. Why did a trio of men decide to massacre these people?

FTA: "a retaliation punishment under Sharia law similar to the Biblical principle of ‘an eye for an eye’ "
What a load of hooey by the author to compare Sharia law to the Bible, but consider the source. “Eye for an eye” is not a scriptural endorsement of retaliation or revenge. Biblical context emphasizes accountability and that the offender’s punishment cannot exceed the extent of the crime, and uses the law to maintain proper balance between the two. Sharia law is obviously not a legitimate authority for that purpose.

IJ know a couple of responses here are understandably squeamish, but sometimes the barbaric answer is still the right answer. As pc504 pointed out, this is a broken clock using up one of its two daily points of accuracy.

80,000 gathered in a stadium to watch is a drop in the bucket compared to the viewers that would tune in to watch a public execution of a heinous criminal...say a mass shooter of a school/daycare/childs birthday party....in the USA.
Both send message to the general populace..."We will NOT tolerate that kind of crime in THIS society"
In this particular case...chances are very good that the "Hit Team" that slaughtered the family also had "Taliban Ties" in some way.
Compare to the Aug 29th 2021 drone strike that killed 11, including at least 7 children, the family of a USA Aide employee...who had been being followed every minute for 6 hours, by six drones, and under rules implemented by Biden ALL drone strikes in Afghanistan HAD to be overseen and approved by Whitehouse staff directly. What should the "Punishment" for that be?

I remember seeing videos, in the 80's when the Taliban would drag women into those stadiums for some alleged offense and in front of thousands of screaming orcs ''execute' them.

An 13 year old Afghan is not the same as a 13 year old American. One is a young adult probably working for a living, the other is a coddled, privileged lazy whiney tween.
In the 3rd world, 13 year olds are often in the front lines of any war. In Muslim nations, they often wear suicide vests.
So......I'm not seeing the problem here. We're I in his shoes, I would have happily pulled that trigger.....several times.

No matted how guilty the man was, nothing justifies this sort of execution. The world should expect no less from 8th century minded barbarians.

I believe the family of murdered victims should be allowed to execute the culprit. I do not believe they should ever be forced to do so, nor should the killing of other human beings ever be presented to spectators. I refuse to watch real footage of people being killed for this reason. In a much smaller way, I also try not look when passing the scene of a car accident. My curiosity should not be satisfied at the expense of someone else's misery.

Those people still live in the 6th Century. No country that calls itself civilized should ever let them into their countries and that means that they should not be allowed here either.

I wonder if the boy had been given the OPPORTUNITY to execute the murderers of 13 of his family members and ACCEPED. I am all for capital punishment of murderers. That said, how many victims and family members of victims would gladly execute the murderer or rapist of a father, mother, wife, sister, husband, son or daughter? Especially after they are set free or under-punished by our justice system. Doing it in front of 80,000 is debatable, to me, anyway...
