Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced an end to the delays caused by health insurance prior authorizations. During Tuesday's televised White House cabinet meeting, Kennedy said, "We convened the insurance carriers representing 280 million Americans and got them to agree -- most of them by January of 2026, two months from now -- to remove prior authorizations for all procedures we want them removed from." "And that means that American patients at the point of care will be able to get an answer immediately," he added.

Now doctors don’t have to defer to the decisions of poorly trained and paid clerks for medical decisions.

Good! It's just scam anyway, along with the doctor's orders that I have to come into the office to get my test results rather than giving them to me by phone or via email. Both are just a means for doctors to get more of my money without doing a damn thing to earn it!
SPIT! I despise the medical field, and that's doubly true since the plandemic!

Does that mean I can get my CPAP supplies without jumping through hoops? I have just been called by my CPAP supplier (two months after I ordered my supplies) that they can't send me my new tubing and mask until I have an appointment with my doctor, where he will ask me in person if I use the machine, I will say yes, and then he will fill out a sheet of paper to fax them that says I said I still use my CPAP. Sheesh! Yeah, you don't want that rampant fraud of people buying tubing and masking! And this is the 21st century, my CPAP is connected to the internet, they could just log into my machine and see I use it regularly (which they probably already do!)
What a racket are CPAP supplies. Why on earth does anyone need a prescription to buy CPAP tubing and masks? And then they charge medicare hundreds for equipment that I could buy for $20 if on the open market.

This just means United Healthcare will deny even more procedures without the excuse of having studied the doctor's recommendation and supporting test results that caused the doctor to make the recommendation in the first place.

Poster #4 is probably right as far as UHC is concerned. All those wonderful promises they make during open enrollment is all BS! They are NOT there when you need them and try get out of paying whenever they can. They wield "denials" like a sword. If a procedure or medicine early on would help someone from getting worse and stay out of a hospital it would cost less than if they worsen and end up in a hospital which costs much more in the long run, not to mention the fear and anxiety they cause the patient during their claim "review" process. UHC sucks! Kennedy needs to take on the entire Healthcare industry for unfair practices that cause people more harm and even possibly death, I doubt UHC is the only one who does this crap!

per 3: Why on earth does anyone need a prescription to buy CPAP tubing and masks? And then they charge medicare hundreds for equipment that I could buy for $20 if on the open market. You've answered your own question.

I think some of the delay of approval by insurance companies is designed to frustrate the patient into giving up - saves money, or waiting for the patient to die - saves money.

The requirement of "Prior authorization" being used to deny claims has been an obvious scam committed by the Insurance companies for ever. Kept alive by Lobbyists corralling our elected representatives Thank you RFK Jr for doing REAL improvements of the health care industry..

For years, people always complained about the dreaded prior authorization from health insurance companies. Now that RFK Jr is the one who finally arranged to get rid of it, people are still complaining. They're mad that RFK did it which somehow makes it bad. They gripe more about their insurance companies. Geez... stop all of the bitching and moaning about finally fixing something that everyone wanted fixed! This is a positive thing for everyone.

At least one Kennedy turned out great. Even the dentists pull crap like this. The hygienist cleans your teeth for $80. The dentist drops in for a five minute look and charges another 80$. It's all a huge racket with the first step of the insurance company being to deny your claim. If the insurance company would just pay up front for medical treatment they would not need to pay claims processors and middle management, thus saving everybody money. The ICD-10-cm system has almost 70,000 codes for medical problems, which is bureaucratic lunacy.

We are left to wonder if Satan recently changed his name to United Health Care. I had never heard of UHC until a couple of years ago when a bunch of scam artists got in a group hug and changed the name to United Health Care.
