If there’s any good that’s come from the government shutdown, it’s exposing all the fraud being committed to exploit the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. To be sure, there are millions of needy Americans who were hurting from being deprived of SNAP as they tried to support children and keep their families from going hungry. This is not about them. This is about the other people — the individuals who dip into this program unjustly at the expense of the taxpayer. Antonio De Jesus Moreno Escobar, who was living in Texas, was arrested by law enforcement officials after he was discovered to be using falsified documents to work different jobs and rake in health care benefits, Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Wednesday. The apprehension is the latest in Paxton’s ongoing work to root out illegal alien fraud in the state.

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot and critically wounded in Midtown early Sunday morning and is now clinging to life at Bellevue Hospital, police and sources said.
The shooting took place on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue around 2 a.m., according to police, who did not identify Boyd as the victim.
However, sources said it was the 29-year-old NFL cornerback.
Cops said there have been no arrests and the shooting is under investigation.
Boyd, a 5-11 defensive back for Gang Green joined the team this year after coming up with the Minnesota Vikings before the 2019 season. He has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans.

Several years ago, my husband Steve and I were watching TV as an American politician of Hispanic descent responded to a challenging question by an antagonistic reporter.
The politician gave such an eloquent and informed answer, sprinkling his response with historical facts, literary allusions, and even dashes of humor, that when he completed his answer, Steve said, “Damn...that is one brilliant guy!”
Reflexively, I expressed what I’ve privately suspected for ages when witnessing similar scenarios: “He’s probably Jewish!”

Many stakeholders in the resolution of the Israel-Gaza War insist that a tenuous but legitimate agreement is in place to resolve this war. The exception to this understanding is…Hamas.
Recently, an official for Hamas, Osama Hamdan, made clear in no uncertain terms, that Hamas will “negotiate” Phase 2 of the agreement. But their definition of negotiating is “stalling for time.”

COP30 is the thirtieth “conference of the parties.” The first took place in Berlin in 1995. At COP21 in Paris in 2015, more than 190 countries signed the Paris Climate Agreement, pledging to cut emissions and to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

I saw this story out of Chicago today and it made me think of all the similar stories in places like Seattle, Portland and New York. The person in this story is a violent offender named William Livingston who has a long history of punching random women in the face and then walking away. Livingston has been arrested dozens of times and even gone to prison in the past, but no matter how many times this happens, he is always back on the street and going back to the same violent behavior. This week he was arrested yet again for two violent attacks that occurred in June.
