Longest Shutdown Ever Reveals U.S. Could
Stand To Fire A Lot Of Federal Workers

Original Article

With the federal shutdown into its second month, left-wing corporate media have invested no little energy in bemoaning the effect of the now unprecedentedly long shutdown on more than 670,000 furloughed federal employees, and the more than 730,000 others working without pay. CNN last month reported on struggling federal workers whose emergency funds had evaporated, while the Associated Press reported: “Federal workers endure financial strain and fear layoffs as the government shutdown drags on.” An Oct. 27 commentary on MSNBC blamed President Trump and House Republicans for “abandoning federal workers who have now missed two paychecks.”

FTA - "An Oct. 27 commentary on MSNBC blamed President Trump and House Republicans for “abandoning federal workers who have now missed two paychecks.”" How funny. And how the dims used the shutdown to inject fear into those federal workers who are furloughed or working for free. What better way to get extra dim votes during the November 4th election process. Meanwhile the dims repeatedly vote "no" to prolong the shutdown. Oh, I forgot, it's all about providing free health care and subsidies to the illegals. Right, dims?

All the federal employees are going to get paid. Happens every time there has been a shutdown. If you're a federal employee and you go to your bank, credit union, etc - they will give you a zero or very low APR loan as they now you will get back pay. So all this moaning (by DOT Secretary Duffy) about missing paychecks is just melodrama. And the whining about the air traffic controllers having to work overtime and being stressed is BS. Many/most ATCs regular work overtime regardless of a shutdown because its good money on top of their very generous salaries. That's the dirty little secret why so many air traffic facilities are chronically understaffed. Under staffed = lots of overtime. It's not a shortage of ATCs.

Republicans are so weak and pathetic that they have gotten little done in 10 months, and only then when Trump is standing behind them with a whip. It's so sad. Thune pleads he doesn't have the votes. That is really whipping your caucus, Thune.

It's not John Thune's fault - he has 52 GOP votes to open the government. It's Schumer's, who won't allow the Dems to vote to open it.

From the article: Yet if it’s true that large numbers of federal employees are truly wasting away their furlough days doing jobs that don’t actually cover their expenses, this doesn’t speak particularly well for a significant chunk of the federal workforce. They are either fiscally stable enough to get away with fanciful, unlucrative side hustles, or they are so unskilled or lazy that they simply can’t find alternatives that can cover even some of their bills.

They have missed two paychecks but we have not missed them. Gone are the days when you accepted a government job for job security. Every day that the shutdown ensues reinforces to us that we don't need most of the drones in the hive. Good timing too because the Queen Bee is retiring.

Fire them all and replace them with H-1Bs at 1/3 the salary. Done to me 3 times. Last place I worked had 4,000 employees. Then manufacturing got moved to Mexico and China. Software dept Americans fired and replaced with Indian H-1Bs. Then covid came along and all were moved back to India and afterwards didn't move them back. So now it's totally outsourced from India. Engineering moved to another Asian country. Nothing left. Probably get the chain link fence and boarded up windows pretty soon like so many other facilities in the area. Trump is in and he is trying to get manufacturing back but too many companies have been doing this for 10 or more years and they can't stop their momentum. It will take generations to turn this mess around.

Thieves are stealing millions in cargo from American trucking companies every year, beleaguering an industry already reeling from a string of horrific highway crashes. A pair of highway truck crashes, caused by Indian nationals who entered the country unlawfully, sparked national outrage over trucking regulations and prompted the Trump administration to issue sweeping restrictions on commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) for illegal migrants. Trucking experts point to a combination of mass illegal immigration and lax vetting procedures as the recipe that not only attracted unqualified migrant truckers, but also a significant uptick in freight thefts. “The unprecedented influx of unvetted foreign individuals into our trucking industry has precipitated a national security crisis,”

About ten years ago, German leaders sold their citizens on a utopian plan: import millions of young Muslims to flood the workforce, rescue a collapsing pension system, and secure the nation’s prosperity for generations. The theory sounded far-fetched and absurd, but Germans bought into it. However, the reality was a total disaster. Fast-forward to today, and Germany is now raising its retirement age to 70. The German people were lied to. The plan to rebuild the workforce through mass immigration didn’t just fail; it cratered. It didn’t revive the economy

If a customer steps within four feet, then the service rep is instructed to ask whether they need help or how their day is going, the new guidance said.
