Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine), dubbed the most conservative Democrat in Congress, has announced he will not seek a fifth House term next year. “I’m confident that were I to run again, I would win,” Golden said in a statement on X attached to an op-ed announcing his decision in the Bangor Daily News. “But recent events have made me reconsider whether the good I can do in Congress still outweighs the cost to my family.” (Snip) Notably, Golden, 43, was the lone House Democrat to vote to fund the government through Nov. 21. Senate Dems have blocked that bill 14

Comments:

His district voted for Trump. Will be a good chance to flip a seat to Red in 2026.

There are no moderate or conservative Democrats in elected office any longer. They are being purged by their Progressive / Liberal / Socialist base who represents today's Democrat party.

Those demanding family needs always come up suddenly, don't they? What's cost to his family? Are he and his family being threatened? The critter job is relatively easy. They should try living the life of some of our military serving their country and doing "good."

WASHINGTON -- As Democrats savor their Election Day victories, some are capitalizing on the victory of New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani and calling out party leaders for snubbing progressives, warning that alienating the left could cost them crucial House seats needed to take control and counter President Donald Trump’s agenda. (Snip) “There are no people, I think right now, who have a worse read on what electable means and less of a pulse on voters than the Democratic establishment,” said Morris Katz, who managed Mamdani’s campaign. Mayor Brandon Johnson is calling for more taxes on big companies in his 2026 budget proposal. Under the mayor’s plan, businesses in Chicago with more than 100 employees would have to pay $21 for each employee every month. Johnson said the extra charge would generate $100 million to fund local services like violence prevention. But it’s sparking heated debate as critics say the tax would hurt the local economy. Johnson defended the plan in a news conference Thursday, saying companies should invest more in the city. He told reporters that the tax would only impact 3% of the city’s largest

The race for Minneapolis mayor did not conclude Tuesday night. With nearly 100 percent of precincts reporting, no candidate reached the threshold needed to be declared the winner after first choice ballots were tallied. Mayor Jacob Frey received nearly 42 percent of first choice votes. His closest challenger, state Sen. Omar Fateh, received nearly 32 percent. Minister DeWayne Davis and business owner Jazz Hampton are farther behind with 14 percent and 10 percent respectively. City officials say tabulation will continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday and into Thursday if necessary. Frey told supporters last night that he’s optimistic about his numbers.

Greetings, Dear Reader, As usual, they’re all wrong and I’m right. How can we interpret the two conflagrations in our midst? Let’s get into it. THE PIED PIPER OF BUSHWICK There are a couple of fires right now for conservatives. To our front, the Heritage Foundation is in the midst of a generational struggle session over allegiance to Israel. While I think the reckoning is worthwhile and ultimately inevitable – especially considering future American conservatives are not apt to carry Jerusalem’s burden – the one to our rear is much more immediate and consequential. The story we’re hearing from the left (and the right) about Mamdani’s win in New York City is pure mythology.

Call me crazy — but a socialist who, until five minutes ago, was gleefully tweeting to defund the police and who refuses to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada” is not my ideal steward for this glittering center of progress. On social media, there’s a relentless schadenfreude chorus of “You deserve what you vote for” from out-of-towners who don’t seem to understand that massive swathes of New Yorkers did not, in fact, vote for Mamdani. Wang stole hundreds of files containing trade secrets from a $11.4 million military project on or around July 1, 2016. The stolen data included manufacturing technology for specialty optical fibers used in high-powered laser weapons. President Joe Biden even took one for a spin, calling it ‘quick as hell.’ But the hype faded fast.
